Elected Presidency – Another Uniquely Singapore innovative idea

The most creative and innovative people in Singapore must be the political leaders. They are coming up with mind blowing ideas that no one could think of and always work. The latest is this great idea called Elected Presidency. It is like a genie coming out from a bottle to solve all the critical problems of Singapore, ie, to protect the nation’s reserves from being squandered by rogue govt, to unify the country, to give the minority a chance to be the president, thus be seen as participating in the main stream of the country’s politics. The unifying factor in a multi racial society, where he is seen as a symbol of racial unity is really crucial.

Whenever I write a piece praising the govt I know for sure that I would get a lot of walloping from my readers. But I am just saying the truth. This EP idea is so innovative and so effective that soon other countries would be borrowing it from us. There is a genuine fear that the ruling govt of the day would turn rogue, and Parliament and all the parliamentarians, all 87 of them, could not do anything and someone must rub the bottle to release the genie in the form of a EP who would then be able to slam down the rogue politicians from running amok. I am not sure whether a minority president is more important or the protection of the nation’s reserves, the rush to make the next EP election a Malay President election would give an indication of which is which.

One genie, a very exceptional one, with all the stringent qualifications, with no compromises on meritocracy even if chosen from a reserve minority EP election, will be able to take on a whole Parliament of rogues.  This EP is the last man in the defence of our nation’s reserves, incidentally include the people’s CPF savings, so don’t pray pray.  Your savings in the CPF depends on the EP to protect. With this genie EP, your CPF savings are safe, forever.

And there is no worry that the genie would turn bad himself. His power can also be limited by the non elected but appointed Council of Presidential advisers that are smarter and more powerful than him, to control him if the genie misbehaved. If this is not enough, the Parliament could overrule the EP with a 2/3 majority I think, correct me if I am wrong on this. The genie is the most powerful factor, but can also be controlled. This is called checks and balance.  Who says Singapore got no checks and balance? Some may think this concept a bit ‘mao dun’, but the virtue of it is that it works to the point of flawlessness.  Many million dollar heads, the best in the island, have been put together to ensure that this is the perfect thing to have, so how can it be wrong, or how can it not work?

I don’t think any genius or any country could come up with a better and sounder idea, a better man, a unifying figure, all powerful to protect the nation’s reserves from a rogue Parliament,  all rolled into one man, but its power can still be curbed when needed, by the same Parliament it was designed to control. With the EP in place there will be stability, no gridlocks, and our democratic Parliamentary system will be safe. And this is a responsible thing to do for the future generations. Anyone opposing this idea or offering alternative ideas is irresponsible.

PS. Someone said that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both qualified with flying colours when the stringent criteria for an EP are applied on them. This is a good proof that the formula and criteria are good since Trump and Clinton are good enough for the USA, so cannot be wrong. The formula has been tested.

I refer to yesterday's article ,    'Gunther Ottinger, You 'slit eyes and sly dogs'

White men think too highly of themselves. In the last few centuries during the hay day of their imperialism they were able develop and enrich themselves at the expense of the people of Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. With the might of their guns they were able to attack, invade,  kill , slaughter and rob off the wealth and resources of  their colonies with impunity. They have forgotten that before the 17th century the Europeans were by and large living a drab and miserable poor life compared to that of the Chinese in China. But the twist of fortune seems to have changed against white men now and they don't seem to realise that their fortune is at the ebbing tide and will soon reach the nadir of their misery again. They are too full of themselves and like to disparage and cast aspersions on others with very rude and uncivilise remarks.

Some years back in 2010 , a  British  musician had seen fit to call Chinese people as subspecies, and I had to object to what he said and wrote a reply to tell him that he and his likes are not only uncultured and uncivilised but also worst than subhuman. Below I reproduce the article of my reply to his ill remark.

Low class British singer calling Chinese "subspecies".

A low class British singer called Morrissey described the Chinese people as "subspecies",saying that he did not like the way some Chinese treat animals. He said this in an interview with a British poet Simon Armitage in the Guardian Weekend magazine. This most uncultured and uncivilised barbarian whom I will describe as lower than subhuman conveniently prefers to ignore that his own kind the Westerners or Europeans have for centuries willfully illtreated animals in the form of sport or game and as a stake in mass gambling. I refer to the wanton and extreme cruelty meted out to bulls in the rings where their matadors stab the bulls repeatedly with very sharp steel daggers causing the bulls to die a slow agonizing death. While the matadors were carrying out the senseless and merciless killing of the bulls ,the whole horde of spectators would watch with scintillating delight by clapping, stamping their feet and shouting endless encouragement to the matadors , treating them as heroes. In the meantime millions of dollars were made by the organisers and the matadors , while the masses by and large made or lost further millions in betting. It is a casino at the expense of cruelty to the innocent bulls. A similar kind of cruelty to dolphins are being carried out in certain Scandinavian countries. Here the European contestants challenged to see who can club to death and cut off the most dolphin heads. The only difference here is that the arena of death for the dolphins is in the beaches. But just as in the bull ring money is made at the expense of killing the innocent dolphins and when the killing is done the sea is turned into a sea of red with the dolphins blood.

The sport of killing innocent animals was extended to killing of innocent humans as a sport. The wild marauding White men from Europe would descend on Africa and the Americas in the cruel days of colonisation in the seventeen and eighteen century . Here the white men would challenge to see who could shoot the greatest numbers of natives - men, women and children , no exception taken.

May be Morrissey and Simon Armitage would like to clarify how civilise and how human Westerners are compare with other people.In the case of other people, cruelty to animals may be sporadic and limited to small group of individuals, but in the case of Westerners cruelty to animals is a national sport as witnessed in the bull rings in Europe and United States and the bashing of dolphins to death in some Scandinavian countries . The sad thing is that the sport of killing animals is extended to the killing of innocent and defenseless natives in both Africa and America. Maybe Morrissey would now like to let the whole world know who belong to the "subspecies" and whether he himself is uncivilised , uncultured and worst still less than subhuman.

Under the guise of championing Human Rights and Democracy, whitemen led by white Americans are now on a killing spree again. They are now creating wars everywhere, killing innocent people by the hundreds of thousands , bringing great suffering and pains to millions more, destroying countries and toppling regimes to achieve their evil objective of world hegemony and total control. They are uncivilised, uncultured and being lower than subhuman they are lacking even in the most fundamental limits of ethics and morals of human conduct and behaviour and must not be allowed to go on a killing path again with impunity.

Gunther Oettinger – You ‘slit eyes’ and ‘sly dogs’….

This is the 21^st Century, and the world is getting smaller, but such racist remarks are still coming out from the mouth of not ordinary westerners but a Vice President of the EU, a German that thought it was ok to call Chinese ‘slit eyes’ and ‘sly dogs’. The Chinese would definitely be offended. Singaporean Chinese would not, I supposed, since they are Singaporeans and not Chinese, and definitely the bananas would nod in agreement with Oettinger, that Chinese are ‘slit eyes’ and ‘sly dogs’, bananas don’t have slit eyes and are not sly dogs.

Though under pressure from the threat of losing his promotion, he made an apology for his rude and racist remarks, his explanation actually made things worst. He said his remarks were ‘free from the liver’ or gut feel, not intentional to insult the Chinese, but just gut feel, if you know what gut feel meant. It is inside him, part of him, how he actually, really felt about the Chinese, a second nature reaction, nothing more, nothing less.

And he is not alone, he said, ‘his remarks merely reflected the colourful language typical of his home state, Baden Wuerttemburg’. Yes, he confessed and revealed that those were what his home state Germans are calling the Chinese, ‘slit eyes’ and ‘sly dogs’. He and his German did not intent to offend, just saying what they are saying all the time when referring to the Chinese.

This is his apology, appearing in the ST. ‘This was not my intention and I would like to apologise for any remark that was not as respectful as it should have been.’ How many Chinese would accept this as a sincere apology? Or would the Chinese said it is ok, he did not intend to insult, he was just saying things from his gut, all the Germans in his home town said it, it is common, normal, the Chinese are ‘slit eyes’ and ‘sly dogs’?

You fucking racist Germans. Please go to China and see how they would return the favour. But not to worry when you are in Singapore, we have no Chinese, only Singaporeans and they would not be offended, some may like it even.

Below is a quote taken from the Statestimes and I believe they have quoted it from the main media and must be true. I stand corrected.

I think all businessmen would love this formula. They should all make an application to the govt for a guaranteed profit figure and then promise to improve the quality of their service or products. How about that, go takers or not?  Let’s start with SIA, can buy back NOL and use this formula, who else want to take up this formula? How about HDB, profit guaranteed, no more billion dollar losses, and quality sure to improve. How about our universities, guaranteed profits to produce quality graduates, no mismatch? How about the telcos, SBS, the taxi drivers?

All the shops in Orchard Road would be forming a beeline to the government office to apply for guaranteed profits to improve products and services. This idea or concept is simply brilliant. I would never have thought of it and I don’t think anyone in the whole wide world would be able to come with such a clever idea. Count on the million dollar talents to come out with such an ‘out of the world idea’ to match out of the world salary. Now you can see the result of paying million dollars for million dollar ideas. Be grateful.

Soon all the companies in Singapore would be making profits and improving the quality of their products and services. Praise must be given when it is due. Another Uniquely Singapore innovative idea. Nevermind if the risk is borne by taxpayers. Our taxpayers are very rich. Sorry taxpayers, or shall I say thank you taxpayers, you are so kind and generous?

PS. I also want to go into business when profits are guaranteed.

Sue the stock exchange

OK I must be careful here. When I said sue the stock exchange I am referring to the NYSE, not SGX. SGX is the best stock exchange in Asia, maybe the best in the world, with excellent governance, good checks and balance system in place, good people in charge, the best money can buy, and with a lot of stringent monitoring and controls to make sure everything is fine, and no donkey or monkey business, no foul or fraudulent practices allowed. Investors playing in the SGX are so blessed to be investing in the safest and best regulated stock market in the world.

OK let me return to the NYSE. The people managing this stock market must be sued till their pants dropped and be put behind bars for mismanaging the stock market and allowed all kinds of frauds and fraudulent practices in the system and pretending that all is ok, legal and good practices. How can it be ok when the stock market is turned into a casino?

Let me just briefly list a few things that the stock exchange did. Bringing in IPOs from countries far far away that they have no effective control and no means of taking legal measures against fly by night companies and allowing such operators to cheat the innocent investors of their hard earned monies. These half baked companies were allowed to list, to take the money from IPOs and then let the companies collapse and the investors losing their pants. And the stock exchange just look the other way, appearing so innocent, not their business, you play with your eyes open while they pocketed the listing fees. They would not take responsibilities for allowing snake oil salesmen selling fly by night companies to list. Not their problem. They did not do anything wrong, not just one case but hundreds of similar cases, and the poor investors left to lick their wounds, money gone. This is crime against the innocent.

What about algo and computer trading, high speed trading? These buggers were allowed to take advantage of their super computers, to even locate their computers next to the exchange to be nearer and faster, to trade against the innocent investors. Such unfair practices, uneven playing field, are accepted as normal, nothing wrong, fair practices? Aren’t these cheatings? Why are the innocent public investors being made to play in a stock exchange that was rigged against them and the stock exchange management proudly claimed that there was nothing wrong? Unfair practices, unfair advantages and nothing wrong? OK, I never said the exchange was rigged. I only repeat what the western media and experts were saying.

Is the stock exchange supposed to provide a level playing field, ensure fair practices, ensure that everyone has a fair and even chance to trade and make or lose money? Why are the supercomputers allowed to trade against ill equipped ordinary people? Fair? Where is the fairness, where is the justice when small investors are cheated or taken advantage of by the computer traders?

And there are many many advantages that the computer traders have over the small investors and the stock exchange management just closed an eye and said nothing wrong. The computer traders with their super computers are allowed, legally sanctioned to do what they are doing by the stock exchange!

Now, should not the American public sue the stock exchange and the management and send them behind bars? Difficult, because many senators and congressmen and women are in some way paid to shut up and not to look at the crimes committed against the small investors.

Surely there must be some righteous and honourable senators and congressmen and women that would be willing to take up this injustice in the stock exchange, to protect the interest of the American public, the small investors, from fraud and malpractices. No? no fraud, no malpractices?

Who is bluffing who? When rights and wrongs are brushed aside and ignored, it is time for the American stock exchange to collapse. The rot is at the top, at the management of the stock exchange, including the government. They must be sued and justice brought to bear on them.

Save the small investors and the stock exchange. Why are the Americans living in such ignorance and being cheated without protesting when they are so good at suing? They have many very clever lawyers to frame the charges to bring the crooks managing the exchange to justice.

Freedom of navigation a threat to who?

Who is afraid of Virgina Wolf, not the silly lamb of course. Who is afraid of lack of freedom of navigation in the South China Sea? China is the biggest trading nation in the world and should be the most afraid of lack of navigation. Would China impose restriction on freedom of navigation on others and affect is trade with the world and its reputation and its national interest? Only fools would cut their nose to spite their own face.
 
Why would China want to cause such friction and mess up its relations with its neighbours? Did China mess up its relations with the countries sharing common borders with China? No. China needs good relations with its neighbours to show to the world that it values peace and good relations with its neighbours and countries around the world. But the Empire, the ex colonial masters are conning their silly former colonies that they must fear China and not them, and the silly colonies believe in the lies.
 
Who is really afraid of freedom of navigation being curbed? Actually no one would do such a thing in this era. What would or could China do, or what would be the likelihood of China’s presence in the South China Sea? This is what the Americans are afraid of. Today, the Americans sail their navies all over the world to challenge and threaten countries it tagged as enemies or called Axis of Evil. What the Americans are afraid is that China would install military surveillance in the SCS, include anti carrier and naval ship missiles that would pose a threat to the Americans that till now, could do what it likes without being challenged and untouchable. With China’s military presence, the Americans would be watched, monitored and could be challenged and sunk if they misbehaved or tried to bully other countries.
 
Is this not good for small countries in the region? What have small countries got to fear when they are not in contention for military power and domination in the SCS? They are being silly to think that China would be bothered with their little warship in SCS. China only has eyes on the world hegemon, the warmonger in the USA that have been threatening every nation with their military power.
 
The Americans would not want China to be able to threaten their military. It could nothing to do with small nations. This is the crux of the problem on freedom of navigation. The freedom of navigation of American naval fleet, aircraft carriers, would be monitored and could be threatened by China’s anti ship missiles.
 
To the rest of the Asean nations, please, don’t think silly and think so highly of yourself, that China would be bothered with your little naval craft. China got no time for you. Do not fight the fight for the Americans. Freedom of navigation is between the big powers, between China and the Americans and other pretenders.
 
Go home and have a nice sleep and stop pretending that freedom of navigation in the SCS would affect you if you are a little nation. In fact China would court your friendship and would make things better for you to win your goodwill. China would protect and ensure freedom of navigation for everyone to promote trade and exchanges.
 
Stupidity cannot be cure.

Asean – The Empire strikes back

The American hegemony has been shaken by recent moves by the Philippines and Malaysia to improve ties with China. The Empire will not take this sitting down and is striking back. The Empire has always regard Asean, in fact the whole world, as part of the Empire. The Empire rules the world and dictates to the world how it should behave or else. No independent country is free or really independent from the Empire.

The prosecution of the Malaysian PM Najib by the American Department of Justice is a clear case that the Empire rules. The embezzling case involving Malaysian govt, state funds, and Malaysians was though, in fact obvious to all, a domestic affairs of Malaysia. But the Empire said no, every state must be answerable to the Empire and Malaysia and its PM are no exception. They committed an act that the Empire would not allow and the Department of Justice had acted against its subjects. Full investigation would be conducted by all the subject countries to bring the PM of Malaysia to justice, in the courts of the Empire.

PM Najib of Malaysia has joined the rebels and headed to the rebel stronghold in China for protection. The rebel forces are strong. The Force is with them with Russia and China standing up to the Empire. Duterte, the President of the Philippines were even more rebellious by openly defying the Empire. Not only did he declared to break away from the Empire, he added that he would join the rebel forces led by Russia and China.

Duterte wants the Empire to pull out its remaining soldier in the Philippines. But the Empire said no, that the soldiers were there to help the Philippines to quell resistant forces. With that excuse, the Empire hopes to keep its soldiers in the Philippines, the way it is keeping its forces in Japan and South Korea,

Pressure is mounting to check on the Philippines. The Empire has told the Philippines that it would not be able to buy weapons from the Empire. It is a matter of time before sanctions would be applied to the Philippines for defying the Empire, attempting to break away.

The Philippines and Malaysia are now top of the list of countries targeted by the Empire. What else would the Empire do to remove Najib and Duterte and install more Empire friendly leaders to replace them? Would there be military coup or an invasion of these countries led by storm troopers?

In 1898 America invaded the Philippines and after slaughtering hundreds of thousands of heroic Philipino resistance fighters it brought the Philippines under its colonial control. The Americans treated the Philippinos with derision and disrespect as low class conquered people. Throughout the half century of American imperial rule , the Americans have always plundered the rich resources of the Philippines to serve its colonial masters' interest. It had never occured to the Americans to lift up the welfare and status of the Philippinos and therefore either nothing was done or only  the bearest minimum was done to help the Philippines in education, commerce, industry or running a government with good governance. Transportation and infrastructure was never developed . That's why the Philippines today remains as the most backward among the Asean countries.

After the Second World War America wanted to build up  a defeated Japan as a powerful industrial base to serve its interest of confronting Russia and China  in the Cold War. The Americans made use of the Philippines mainly as the supplier of raw materials for its military industrial bases in Japan . And Japan was brought up as deputy sheriff to protect and oversee American interest in Asia. The dignity and pride of the Philippinos interest was never taken into consideration.

Below a US secret report ( The Dodds Report  ) pertaining to the Philippines was accidentally discovered. When the Philippinos came to know this report they went wild with rage and hatred for the Americans.

    Proving that Duterte was right all along re his strong feelings against the US..!

    Curious how such an important fact that Japan is resource-poor is often forgotten. No doubt that's why Japan waged war in the Pacific. They wanted it all. But now they've partially gotten what they wanted - aided by an imperialistic America seeing the chance to dominate the world but needing a strong and submissive Japan to oversee Asia. So the former colony of the US, the Phillipines, becomes Japan's resource 'factory' and the Phillipinos their slaves, their labour feeding Japan's (and America's might).

    Why couldn't Japan seek win-win deals with their Asian neighbours? Surely that's better than war. But to the government at the time, and as now with Abe that's a no-no. That would mean Japan was no longer the superior nation in Asia; it's just one of us. And that's unacceptable! The notion that they're the 'whitest' nation in Asia, a fantasy fed to Japanese nationalists by egotistical US politicians seduced by their own 'exceptionalism', has to be maintained.

    But now there is Duterte, and the Phillipinos have their hands on the steering wheel for a change. Good for them!

    By some strange quirk Duterte has within his reach the chance to change history in Asia - from tension, animosity, possible war, poverty and more poverty to that of accommodation, win-win for all, peace and prosperity...

    I pray for him and hope he is well-protected...

Duterte may try to convince Abe US is no good for Japan just as he see US is no good for Philippines. Abe of course try to convince Duterte US is very good for the alliance and he should welcome US military forces.

If Duterte cannot convince Abe, he might present him a "dog on a leash" photo to impress on his host not to be that dog. A very subtle way of telling his host to have a backbone.

This little western outpost in Asia, occupied by Europeans that came to rob the natives of their land, is thinking that it is big enough to be the Little White Sheriff in the South China Sea, to rule over the silly and hapless Asian and Asean countries. And to make its role more legitimate, it is playing on the ego of the Indonesians, the undisputed regional big brother, to join them to patrol the SCS.

And this only happens after the Philippines refused to be dragged in to be the pawn in the American/western power game to control the SCS.  According to an Agencies report, ‘In February, Washington took the unusual step of publicly asking Australia  to undertake “freedom of navigation” operations by sailing naval patrols within 12 nautical miles of Beijing controlled territory.’

When the Empire was riding high, with the Aquino govt willingly playing the sacrificial pawn, they totally ignored the sensitivity of the Indonesians as the big brother of the region. Indonesia was transparent, ignored, Indonesian interests were not in their cards.  The Empire just muscled in as if they owned the SCS. Now that the Philippines have abandoned that role, the Little White Sheriff thinks the Indonesians, with a little flattery, would be silly enough to be roped in to play the role that the Pinoys had rejected.

Would Indonesia be dragged by the nose by the Little White Sheriff to do its donkey work for the Empire, to confront China like Aquino used to do? Or would the Indonesians show the middle finger to the Little White Sheriff who really believes it is a super power in the region and want to rule the waves in the SCS. What about the rest of the Asean states, do they have a say whether they accept the Little White Sheriff as the law enforcer in their backwaters? Who is Australia by the way?

Wages are too high - Lim Swee Say

I quote below from an article in the Statestimes with the title, 'Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say - Wages are too high'

'Speaking at a conference for businesses, Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say complained that wages in Singapore are too high and that productivity gains are not catching up with wage growth.

The Manpower Minister then complained about the lack of productivity growth in Singapore, and that the country’s GDP has been badly affected:...'

My immediate reactions, is he referring to salaries at the top or wages at the bottom, like cleaners getting $1000? Can Singaporeans survive in this world's most expensive city if the wages are too high and be lowered?

By the way, whose problem is it that productivity is low? What is he or the govt going to do about it?

MH370 – The strange mysteries

The disappearance of MH370 without a trace after 3 years is itself a mystery waiting to be solved. The tragedy of losing 239 lives on board is unmentionable and if this is the work of some evil men and women, let them be condemned when the truth is revealed. The truth will surfaced, only a matter of time. It is too big an object and too many lives involved to be covered and forgotten.

The disappearance is a big mystery so far. But there are many other mysteries happening surrounding its disappearance in the followup actions and search for this missing aircraft. I will try to list down some of the mysteries that demands an explanation.

The first mystery is the wild goose chase in the Antarctic Ocean for an aircraft lost in the South China Sea while heading towards China. Today, after the silly searches by silly reasonings, the truth that the whole search was a hoax becomes more obvious. Only very wicked people would mislead the affected and concerned parties to search in the wrong place and wasting precious time and resources from looking at more likely places.

Another mystery, the world’s Number One busybody,  the one that knows everything, the USA, was unusually silent on this incident. They did not bother and did not want to show how clever they were, their technical knowhow, the aircraft was American, to lend a helping hand.  The reticence and non participation of the Americans is suspiciously mysterious.

And the next mystery is the little western outpost, Australia, assuming the role of experts in missing aircraft and searching for missing aircraft. When has Australia acquired such expertise and became the voice and authority in this incident? Did Australia build the aircraft, was there a specialized centre in Australia to do all the testing of aircraft parts that no other countries could do better?

What about the mysterious resurfacing of little bits and pieces of aircraft parts, supposedly to be from MH370 appearing in African coast? For these bits and pieces of airframe sheet metal to be washed ashore in Africa is already a mystery difficult to explain and very strange. The strangest thing is that every little bit of the sheet metal found seemed to have been stamped with numerals to announce that they came from MH370. Anyone familiar with the aircraft industry would know that rarely were numerals imprinted on sheet metal on an aircraft. And the whole airframe is sheet metal, mostly with no identification or need to have numerals printed on them. Numerals or serial numbers are normally on instruments and pieces of equipment on the aircraft imprinted by their manufacturers.  Numerals on sheet metal?  It was like someone made it a point to print identification numbers on every piece of sheet metal found to ensure that everyone would believe that these were from MH370 and the bogus theory that it crashed in the Antarctic Ocean is true. And as the story goes, nearly every piece of the sheet metal has numerals on them to say, ‘I came from MH370’. How coincidental, and how evident?

What can be more mysterious that all the parts must be sent to Australia, the overnight experts, to do the testing to confirm that the parts were from MH370, and in most cases pronounced so only to be rejected or denied later as not true or not sure? In reality, every piece of sheet metal is practically the same and no one can tell the difference or where it came from, unless there are specific numerals imprinted on them. No amount of test can tell otherwise. There are no ‘thumbprints’ to talk about and to rely on.

Do these mysteries tell a story, explain the bigger mystery of the missing MH370?

Why are the Americans so silent about the missing MH370, none of their business when everything in the whole world is their business? When an embezzling case involving the Malaysian govt and Malaysians, nothing to do with the Americans, could lead to the American Justice Dept ordering an investigation and to recover the missing money that did not belong to the Americans but to the Malaysian govt? Why the Americans did not deem fit to commission an investigation as the aircraft was a Boeing 777, American made?

Why is this busybody so quiet, so unusually quiet, exceptionally quiet about the missing MH370? This is the biggest mystery of all the mysteries surrounding the MH370 disappearance.

Globalisation is Good – Depends

The US and Britain are closing their doors to immigrants and to globalization. Whether this is good or bad would depend on where you are coming from. To Trump and the Brits, globalization is bad, and that I also agree. But I would want to take another angle to view this position and say that globalization is not only good to the US and Britain and also to Europe but also a natural eventuality of history. And here are my reasons.

America does not belong to the Europeans or white Americans. It originally belonged to the native Americans. The white Americans called them savages or Red Indians. They massacred them and robbed their land to call it the USA for the migrants from Europe. See the point I am making?

The USA does not belong to the migrants from Europe. Thus, globalization, brining in more immigrants is not new. Every migrant has a right to be in this new country that the earlier migrants devastated and disemboweled of its original natives. It is open country now for every migrant. The early migrants and the new migrants have all the right to be in this ‘No man’s land’ robbed from the native Americans. My apologies to the remaining survivors of the native Americans that are now as good as non entities in their homeland. No one, not the early migrants, asked them if it was alright to bring in all the migrants to their country to replace them. Now there are so few of these original natives to make their voice heard, that this was and still is their land and they have a right to say No. But who cares? Did the white Americans bother to ask for their opinions, to protect their rights to their country, to massacre them?

The moral of the story, if one loses his country to the new migrants, forget about getting it back. The new migrants would take over and in the name of globalization, share the country to anyone they want. How is this related to Singapore? Are the Singaporeans also losing their country to globalization?

What about Britain and Europe? Look at history, Britain and Europe were built on the wealth and riches of the countries they conquered and looted. It is time they share their countries with the natives of those lands they conquered and raped. This is only fair right? This is pay back time for Britain and Europe.  The wealth in Europe to a great extent belonged to the rest of the world, especially Asia, Africa and Latin America, including the Middle East of course.

So, be generous, return the favour, yes globalization is the right thing, to share your wealth and countries with the rest of the world. No one will accuse them of being traitors to their people and countries. They owed everything to the rest of the world and they are coming to Europe to take back what was theirs. Britain and Europe are just returning what they took in the past.

Do I sound logical, fair and just? I think it is historical correct. What you sowed you shall reap. But there will be those who said forget about history. It is the past. Let’s move on.  Don’t be so sure. The fairest and most just natural law is what you sowed you shall reap. The Asians called it karma.

Is globalization good for Singapore and Singaporeans? It depends on whether you think this island is yours or if you are silly enough to give it away or daft enough not to know what is happening to your island. Then you deserve it when it is lost to globalization and to the new migrants.

When racists and religious bigots rule

How sad it would be if this island is taken over by racists and religious bigots that went around attacking everyone and claiming to be victimized and discriminated but the truth is that they are the real racists and religious bigots using racism and religion as a tool to attack the innocent.

These racists and religious bigots are hiding in every corner, especially in social media to attack everything under anonymity. They accused everyone as racists or anti their religion at the slightest excuse and putting themselves as the righteous ones. There are also many cases quoted in the main media of such reckless and wild attacks and the innocent victims that have no intention of discriminating anyone ended up feeling so guilty and having to apologize to these racists and religious bigots.

The govt must step in, take a stand on this, be the main arbiter of who and what are racist/ racism and anti religion. The racists and religious bigots must not be allowed to rule the day and dictate to the people what they think things should. These racists and religious bigots must be taken to task for their wild and spurious attacks against the innocent.

Singapore is the most free from racism and religious discrimination country and must not allow the racists and religious bigots to blow their trumpets as and when they like, like Singapore is a highly charged racist country and intolerable to different religions. No one in Singapore has been attacked and spitted at because of the colour of their skin or their religion.

This menace must not be allowed to spread. The govt has the responsibility to nip this in the bud, starting with exposing and naming the racists and religious bigots hiding under anonymity in the internet and attacking the innocent. If this is not stopped, anyone dying his hair blond could also be accused or racism because he is insulting others for not having blond hair, like discriminating against black or brown hair.  The stupidity of racists and religious bigots is beyond your imagination.

Stop racism and religious bigots before they think they could set the agenda for the rest of the people. This scourge is rising and must be stopped immediately. The racists and religious bigots are attacking everyone when they are the real racists and bigots.

Duterte unsettles Asean

The move by Duterte to patch up relations with China, to lean closer to China is now touted as unsettling to Asean. When the Philippines were leaning to the USA, be the barking dog of the USA, raising tension in the South China Sea, that was not unsettling to Asean. What this new slogan is saying is that Asean should be leaning to the USA against China, and this is what the Asean states wanted. What about Thailand and Malaysia turning to China, to raise their relations to a higher level, are they also unsettling to Asean?

Look at it from another angle, the only gang in Asean that is unsettled is the pro US camp, the cronies and barking dogs of the US, aka little USAs. These cronies would be very unsettled now that Asean is no longer the puppet on a string to be dragged on by the nose by the Americans to create tension in the region. Their only agenda, is to let the US use Asean to encircle and contain China of which Obama is so proud and bragging about it.

Would not Asean countries be happier now with lesser tension in the SCS? Would not the Asean countries praise Duterte for maintaining peace in the region and bringing more economic development to his country and bettering the lives of the Pinoys instead of trying to pick a fight that it could not win?

For Singapore, there is nothing to worry about. Singapore is neutral and did not take sides. Singapore will support an independent and neutral Asean balancing the interests of big powers without being a crony or barking dog of any big power.

Let those cronies and barking dogs get unsettled for trying to be little USAs or Trojan Horses. Singapore is a principled country and meant what it said. Singapore does not take sides. Singapore is neutral. How brilliant of our leaders.

Singapore is safe while Asean is being unsettled by more Asean countries turning away from the USA to China. Singapore can sleep well, very well while those American barking dogs would have sleepless nights wondering what to do next, to cosy up to their American masters and to plot against China.

Uniquely Singapore – or another fiasco?

There are more than 2m foreigners in the island of 3.5m population. Several hundred thousands of these foreigners from half past six countries and half past six universities are gainfully employed, happily employed, replacing the supposedly better qualified Singaporeans in their jobs. And the Singaporeans, the experienced and well qualified, the young graduates, are crying for jobs. They are unemployable, underemployed, they are mismatched!

 

And all we heard of is that it is all because of mismatch. And these jobless
Singaporeans are told to go overseas to find their rainbows. Not in Singapore. They are mismatched, they are misfits in their own countries. Their hundreds of thousands dollar education and degrees are useless, cannot eat, cannot find a job. They are only good enough to compete overseas, forget about in the US and Europe if they can’t even find a job in home town, unable to compete with half past six degree foreigners. They should go to third world countries to sell their skills and earn cheap currencies. And don’t think of coming back, don’t think of earning and saving enough to be able to survive back home. The cheap currencies they earned will become cheaper when brought home to spend in the world’s most expensive city. They are failures in Singapore and how could they expect the third world countries to hire them and pay them well? Even if they wanted to, they could not afford to.

Singapore is not for Singaporeans. Singaporeans are only good enough to work in third world countries. And the govt knows that and are helping them with a lot of courses and training programmes to equip them to survive in third world countries. Probably they will teach them how to lower their expectations, how to live life in a third world countries, how to get use to third world standard of living, how to tighten their belts.

Singapore is good only for foreigners, especially those from third world countries. These are the highly skilled and trained talents Singapore needs, with half past six degrees. Though they came from half past six universities, they have no mismatch problems. They matched beautifully with the needs of this first world city. The proof, a few hundred thousands of them are already here, employed in jobs that mismatched Singaporeans cannot do.

Did anyone say Uniquely Singapore? With so many silly mismatched PMETs, what more proof is needed to confirm that Singaporeans are daft? The daft Singaporeans don’t even know why they are unemployable, why they became mismatched, misfits. The only thing they know, is that they are told that this is the reason. And everyone accepts this silly reason with no further question asked. Several hundred thousands of half past six foreigners are fit, not mismatched and taking over the jobs of the misfit Singaporeans. To laugh or to cry?

 

And we are boasting about having three of the world’s best universities run by foreigners, the bulk of the academic staff and administrative staff is foreigners. I am waiting for the Parliament to be taken over by foreigners and pronouncing that Singaporeans are misfits to be in Parliament and should go elsewhere to live. This is only a matter of time.

Where is the real mismatch?

My adventure into alien territory

It took me a long time to decide on this adventure, to venture into alien territory on a Saturday morning. I have never done this for decades and whatever memories of this place were from the time when I was a kid. Finally, with much reluctance, I bravely trotted into this corner of Singapore that I have never treaded for a long time.

I arrived just about a quarter to 10 in the morning. I was a bit lost with the geography of the land and had to ask to get to where I want to be. I was shown this queue machine and got my Q number.  There were quite a lot of people and also ample staff to guide the new visitors like me. I waited for 10 minutes before my Q number flashed on the big screens. I registered and the customer relations officer was all helpful and friendly. What a pleasant start on this adventure. She even explained to me the procedure to save waiting time. I could make an appointment from home by logging into the system. She apologetically said I would have to for an hour before my appointment for just walking in.
To me, recollecting on my childhood experience, an hour of waiting was fair game. I went for coffee and still had a lot to time to take a look at the waiting area and the Q numbers called. Wow, another 100 numbers ahead of me.  Now how to kill one hour of time doing nothing? Ok, visited the restroom. My, another big surprise, spanking clean, dry and odourless, as good as home. Because it was so comfortable, because I had one hour to spare, I took my time. I thought I had more than half an hour and strolled out casually only to find I just missed my turn. Spoke to the customer relations officer and she took up my case and yes, I was called immediately to see the doctor.

I have this blurring or clouding of vision on one eye for a couple of years.  After the preliminaries he asked which hospital would I want to get the cataract done. I told him to get me the cheapest. He broke into laughter. Ok, the most convenient is Ng Teng Fong Hospital. What about the fees? Not to worry, they charged the same rate. It was a quick appointment. And I also asked for some medicine for my flu and cough. All over in less than 5 minutes.

I went to the Pharmacy and collected my medicine in less than 5 minutes and happily wanted to leave the place. Then I remembered her saying to go to the counter behind. Oops, I got to pay for my medicine. I could have just gone home without knowing that I got to pay for it.

At the payment counter the cashier said three eightty five. I said, uh, so expensive. She was apologetic and explained that I had two kinds of medicine. Ok, gave her $10 and got my change of $6.15. There was GST but absorbed by the govt, ie not GST.

My next stop was for an appointment for my ops. The cashier said go to counter 10 and press 3 on the machine. A bit puzzled but just did as told. Found the counter, found the machine, and yes there was a button for 3. Press it and was wondering what’s next. Oh, a Q number.  That was wbat the button 3 was for. Took the Q number and wait. This time waited for 15 minutes, the longest wait in the whole process.

When my turn came, the customer relations officer entered my particulars and said Ng Teng Fong Hospital would contact me for the appointment. And that’s it, all over in less than an hour, without making an appointment in advance.

This was my adventure to a Polyclinic on a Saturday morning. It was simply not the same as decades ago when waiting time was long and waiting unnecessarily was the norm.  Everything was so organized and befitting for a first world experience. I could not find any fault with the organization, the set up and the staff. It was clockwork precision, too efficient that I almost missed my appointment when I thought I would have an hour to wait but actually half an hour.

Every staff was professional and courteous, and, you don’t believe this… I thought I was entering alien land, at least that was what I was told. If I am not mistaken, all the staff, including the doctor, was Singaporean. At least their names and the way they sounded when they spoke. No aliens!
Whoever reinvented the Polyclinics, the organization, the processes and procedures, and the staff operating them, one could not ask for better. This is the standard to be copied by all the ministries.  My adventure was in a way a very pleasant experience and a very comfortable one, for $3.85, inclusive of consultation and medicine.

This is my Singapore, the Singapore Singaporeans are proud to call home, the efficiency and quality of service that made Singapore a hallmark and model for the rest of the world.

Please keep Singapore this way. I must say I was happily surprised that the Polyclinics are still Singaporean territory and in tip top condition.

Asean – The Obama foul up

Asean was originally an organization built by its founding fathers to be a neutral and independent regional organization free of big power interference. Over the years, willingly or otherwise, some members started to lean closer with the Americans, even signing military alliances to be part of the American Empire. Though Asean still maintained its neutrality, and the American allies played their American card close to their chest, gradually the mask came off, and they openly took sides with the Americans and fronting up for American interests. On the Chinese camp, a couple of new Asean countries joined the organization wearing their historical ties with China on their chests.

The expansion of Asean also led to the transformation of Asean with two opposing camps and allies strutting around with pride that they are allies of big powers. The veneer thin Asean neutrality was history and no longer touted as the key principle of what Asean stood for. The myth of a neutral Asean, built on the cardinal principle of neutrality has become bullshit.

As recently as the beginning of the year, the Americans were boasting about their pivot to Asia, a veiled expansionist move to stay in Asia by relocating their military hardware into the region. This move was generally supported by some Asean countries, namely Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore and to a certain extent Thailand. The rest of the Asean states were neutral except for Laos and Cambodia that were traditionally China’s close neigbours. Asean totally ignored the interest of Indonesia as the big brother and brought in a monster to rule the region, making Indonesia looking like a part of the Empire.

Obama was riding high and American projection of military power in Southeast Asia was as good as done with the Philippines and a few hardcore Asean states openly and covertly egging the Americans to stay in the region. Obama had 5 aces in his hand in Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. And the Americans agitated the SCS dispute to its full advantage, encouraging these countries to confront China and to make counter claims on Chinese islands.

All this is history. The aces in Obama’s hand have turned to 2s. The Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand have switched sides. They refused to provoke China on the SCS claims, choosing to court China for economic development and trade and opting to talk and negotiate with China for a peaceful solution. The tension and threats of war in the South China Sea fizzled out. Obama is now left with only Vietnam and Singapore as the two aces in his hand.

China on the contrary have turned around and now holding 5 aces in Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia with the rest of Asean states remaining neutral other than Vietnam and Singapore.  Vietnam is looking like making a U turn as well with China waving the carrots of more trade and economic development, with no interference in their domestic affairs.

Obama’s hand is now weak, as weak as his last few days in Office. There is an Asean Revolution against the Americans. The stoking of tension and probability of war in the region failed. What Ash Carter said about isolating China has backfired. It is the USA being isolated and the last nail onto this coffin would be the killing of the TPP, the futile American attempt to isolate China.

Bye bye America. Or as Duterte has said, America, you lost. Southeast Asia would not be dragged into a war and turmoil at the will of the Americans. The Asean leaders are not that stupid (there are exceptions) to be at the becks and calls of the Americans to destroy their countries and the lives of their people. They want peace and progress for their people, not war, not death and destruction.

The American nightmare is just beginning.

The Asean Revolution

The Duterte Revolution in the Philippines has set about a rethinking of the Philippines history, the colonization and massacres of Pinoys and the pathetic state of the economy under so called American aid, and the unending rebellion in the South the Americans claimed to be quelling but instead fuelling and financing. The Pinoys have woken up to their sorry state of affair after more 100 years of American domination. The Philippines are one of the poorest and least developed Asean countries and still dependent on foreign aid, ie American junks and crumbs and expected to be grateful.

Look at Indonesia and Malaysia and Thailand, all three economies have surged past the Philippines in economic growth and have higher quality of lives for their people. But the Revolution in Asean did not start in the Philippines. The Asean Revolution started a few months prior to Duterte’s ascendency as the President of Philippines, right in the heart of Malaysia!

Unbelieveable, but the Chinese are moving into Malaysia in a very big way. Duterte was successful to clinch $24 billion of contracts for the Philippines in 4 days, a very good result. The Malaysians have an earlier start. 4 major projects in Malaysia, some started a few years earlier, are worth at least $100b, from the Forest City in South West Johore, the Greenland development in Johore Bahru, the megacity in KL that would be the new transportation hub for high speed trains linking to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar and onwards to China and Europe, and the newly commissioned Malaysia China Kelatan Industrial Park. 

Malaysia is getting an economic boost from the Chinese investment and would take off way ahead of Indonesia and the Philippines.  If you have not heard about it, the Chinese have started production of high speed trains from their factory in KL in preparation for the building of the high speed trains in Malaysia.  Najib is visiting China to raise Malaysia China relations to a new height.

What is happening in Malaysia could be the things that the Philippines could also be expecting in the Duterte Revolution. Philippines could go the same path as Malaysia, for economic growth and development and not be made the quarrelsome barking dog of the Americans, everyday dying to fight a war, raising and provoking tensions in a conflict that it can never win except to drain its limited resources, the lost of more Pinoy lives and forever be dependent on the Americans to dole them with junks and crumbs. What are the Americans offering, more military training to fight a green monster, selling of weapons and stoking rebel activities in the South.

With Malaysia taking the lead, showing the way, the Thais and the Philippines tagging along, Asean is going to see rapid economic development and growth while the world economy goes on a downward swing. Singapore got to be very careful not to lose out in this Chinese stimulus and miss the train, literary and otherwise. Yes, if the high speed train linking to China and Europe just ends in KL, KL will be the new transportation hub, replacing Singapore or at least taking away half of the transportation and logistic business.  With all the goods between Europe and China travelling by train, by passing Singapore, you can expect a drop of 50% of sea traffic calling at Tuas. Oh, before I forget, Thailand would be the biggest land transportion hub in Southeast Asia with high speed trains linking to China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia.

The Asean Revolution has started and hundreds of billions will be injected into the Asean economies to drive the needed growth to keep Asean countries afloat in a world economy shrouded by dark clouds and uncertainties. The poor Americans did not have the money to finance such huge projects at an international scale. Worst, they could not think of it, unable to conceptualise such an intercontinental idea and lost the initiative to the Chinese. They forgot that money can be made in other economic enterprises other than inciting wars and selling weapons.
