Nothing is wrong with India reselling Russian oil to the EU and making a profit. Profiteering is a new mantra being used to target India, just like overcapacity is being used against China. In fact, it is perfectly in line with doing business that the West has adopted, lock stock and barrel or hook, line and sinker. The beef about the whole warp argument is that the EU is still buying Russian oil via India and China, not giving the USA all the benefits of slaughtering the Europeans. If the EU does not want to buy resold Russian oil, India has no way to force them to. Why are they still buying is because India sells oil to them cheaper, even with the touted profiteering, than what the USA is selling to the EU. The USA is not trying to be angelic and helping the Europeans and that it cares for the EU. It is all about their interest that is being affected with the EU buying Russian oil via India.
Aren't USA and European businesses, for example Apple, Luis Vinton, Hermes, Chanel and other luxury bag brands also profiteering, using China to make their products on the cheap and selling them at multiple times the cost. If that is not profiteering, I do not know what Scott Bessant is talking about.
It would be better for Scott Bessant just to tell India that what the USA can do, India is forbidden to do, as with every other country in the world. Satan never does what is good but always doing that by hiding behind an evil motive.

The biggest profiteering scam in history was conducted by the USA.
It profited from the products made by others using its toilet papers to pay for them. In the process it also exported its inflation to countries around the world.
Why did USA companies moved production to China in the first place? It was to benefit from the cheap labor that enabled USA companies to make more profit. The irony now is that China is no longer as cheap, the profiteers in the USA turned around and are accusing China of paying 'slave wages' to workers to make those products for them. The Chinese Government did not employ Chinese workers to work in USA factories in China and pay them 'slave wages'. USA companies and manufacturers who employed Chinese workers in China paid them 'slave wages'.
In spite of all that, J. D. Vance even called Chinese workers 'peasants' working hard to make things to sell to the USA in exchange for toilet papers and lending those toilet papers back to the USA by buying its treasuries, so that the USA can afford to buy more goods made by 'peasants'. J. D. Vance probably still buying eyeliners and make-up items with borrowed money from Chinese 'peasants', LOL.
What about the profiteering by high-end branded bags made by Chinese factories for profiteers like Hermes, Lius Vinton, Coach, Michael Kors and others that Scott Bessant is not talking about?

How the hell did Trump pick all these oddballs is mind boggling. It all just boils down to cronyism with credibility and merit hardly an important criterion. After all, if dismantling the USA was the intention, the choices should fit the agenda.
Overcapacity was and is also never an issue. It became an issue when the USA, EU, Japan and South Korea could not compete against China. They could not compete against China in the Global South and even on their own turf.
If China had still been backward, USA's overcapacity in money printing, Japan's overcapacity in car manufacturing and South Korea's overcapacity in electronics and shipbuilding would still be merrily taken as just globalization advantages. They would argue that all is fair, just leveraging on economies of scale, producing things at the lowest cost advantage, nothing wrong.
When China did that and just doing it better, it is overcapacity. What a load of rubbish. This is called loser's mentality. When someone cannot compete, they will find ways to bring others down to their level.
