Crazy Rich Politicians

Crazy Rich Asians is screening to full house in the US, Singapore and neighbouring countries. It is a bit of fresh air on the dull thinking of Asians that rich people are angmohs and Asians are poor. It used to be when they came to plunder our wealth and took away everything they wanted and needed to build European cities. The Asians, particularly those influenced by Confucianist culture, tend to be low key and would hide their wealth to the extend that not many people know they are filthy rich.

The SPGs need to wash their heads, not brains, for thinking that only angmohs are rich. The crazy Anton or Anton crazy believed he is rich. Wait till he has watched the Crazy Rich Asians and he would not know where to hide. The rich people here, with some exceptions, are the Crazy Rich Asians. SPGs, please readjust your homing device, aim at the Crazy Rich Asians or politicians.

The Crazy Rich Asians may be crazy on the screen. But the really crazy ones are the rich politicians. Anyone see the politicians behaving like the crazy rich Asians, flaunting their wealth? No, they would not dare to. It is political suicide. But everyone knows that they are filthy rich, many are multi millionaires or billionaires. But they walked around like paupers, no flashy cars but production line cheap Mercedes and BMWs at most. No Richard Mille or Parmigiani, Hublot, Blvgari, no diamond rocks or moon rocks hanging on their necks.

But Singapore is the place for the rich to flaunt their wealth. They are completely safe, they would not be robbed or kidnapped for doing that. And for the politicians, there are more reasons to show off what they owned, having earned them honestly, legally and cleverly with their above mediocre talents. Why called themselves natural aristocrats when they moved around like hoi polloi? Aristocrats must look like aristocrats, must look rich, look classy and a bit snobbish, speaking with a stiff upper lip.

At least there is one such politician that is not pretentious for displaying his real worth. Unfortunately a minority of loud mouth Singaporeans are filled with envy and showing scorn when they see his beautiful stately white Bentley parked at his country club. For goodness sake, owning a Bentley is not a crime and the politicians deserve it. If politicians cannot effort to drive Bentleys, who else can afford? Some are criticizing him for this inappropriate showing of wealth as an MP. How disgusting, I mean the critics. This man made his fortune, not inherited old rich. He is an MP, a politician, a multi millionaire and not a mediocre man. He is entitled to live well and enjoy his wealth.

What, would it be better if people like him pretend to be poor, hiding all their wealth under their beds and eating in hawker centres? Would they then look like hypocrites, pretenders, fakes, dishonest, not genuine? I rather the politicians be honest and strut around, or move around in their Bentleys and Rolls Royces or in luxury toy cars that cost millions.

Is this not about transparency, about honesty, about meritocracy, not hiding anything? There is also a saying, money not spent is not yours. Why work so hard to earn so much money and wanting more every day, but not spending, afraid to spend the money? Is this not crazy?

There could be good reasons for some wealthy people to hide their wealth when the source of their wealth is less than clean or respectable. But the politicians here earn their money in the most honest way one can think off. Not by cheating, stealing or conning the people, not be illegal means. They should be proud of their wealth. They deserve every cent they earned and no one shall gripe about them living well, living very well. It is really crazy and silly for having so much money and not using the money to enjoy a better life, a Swiss standard of living. And worse, to be accused of pretending to be poor or not rich and so insincere.

What do you think?

PS: Happy Hari Raya to all Singaporeans.

Actually, I am turned off by these Stupid Articles and Dramas showing what's these Crazy Rich Asian flaunting their Wealth and what's Elites Status.

Not said that I am envious and green with jealousy of their Earthly Wealth.

Remember the saying, What's go up will also come down.

They be Wealthy with Riches made legally or illegally but I do not envy them as they might not be blessed with other Wealths.

Superfically, they may looked Grand full of happiness.

Have to put up with their equally bitchy Jonesess in competition who is One Up on the Other.

What's tiring Artificial Lifestyles.!!!

When they are been shoved into the Furnances or Buried Underground, All also turned to dust.

What's temporary Rich Crazy Elites you are NOTHING but dust in the next Nether World.

When you are poor, without status and used to have a meal a day, you be still comfortable in good and bad times.

When you are Rich and have used to your Affluent Lifestyle. When you are down, DEATH is the only solution as you are unable to cope with your change of status and your Water Face.

So just be humble even if you are Crazy Flushed with Wealth.

Any one that begrudged the rich politicians their hard earned wealth failed to see that they are a special breed. They are not mediocre pariahs. While ordinary folks can survive on porridge, they need special diet. No eating at hawker centres. That's for peasants. Rich politicians eat at clubs and posh restaurants. Singaporeans must not envy them. Just try to cultivate the Ah Q spirit.

RB, I think you are correct. Politically and non-politically corect. (But not necessarily "right").

Legally obtained riches, through a parliamentary demon-crazy (read democracy) with more than 90% of seats most of the time, with the WHIP go ensure conformity and obedience, with $million carrots and multiple directorships on the sideline, with the liberty to be part-time or no-time MPs, can also be seen as filthy. Can also be perceived as corrupted, in the eyes of the less educated, less intelligent and less endowed, though may be not through the courts.

Politicians are public figures or, crudely speaking, public property. There are not private personnel any more. Therefore, their behaviors are subject to public perception, interpretation and scrutiny. Any slightest indication of flaunting their wealth even by their children or parents, not necessarily by themselves, can be regarded as insensitive and opulent, or disgusting and despicable, by the common taxpayers. Because, in the final analysis, it is the taxpayers' money that are being flaunted and displayed with obscenity unconscionably.

When something is fundamentally, morally and ethically wrong, no amount of justifications, or new laws, can make it right in the eyes of the commoners, the masses, the peasants, the lowly educated, the powerless, the weak and the meek.

Might is never right!
For might comes from power.
Power corrupts.
Absolute Power corrupts absolutely.
Therefore, Absolute Might corrupts mightily.
Might can never be right....

REAKING NEWS:

President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen has pleaded guilty in a Manhattan court to violating campaign finance laws.

He said he did so at the direction of "the candidate", for the "principal purpose of influencing [the] election".

Mr Cohen's admission was related to hush money paid to Mr Trump's alleged mistresses.

The 51-year-old admitted eight counts, including tax and bank fraud in a plea deal with prosecutors.

President Trump ignored questions about Mr Cohen as he arrived on Tuesday evening for a pre-scheduled rally in West Virginia.

Trump is a crazy rich politician?

Lee Kuan Yew Quotes

"But we either believe in democracy or we don't. If we do, then, we must say categorically, without qualification, that no restraint from the any democratic processes, other than by the ordinary law of the land, should be allowed... If you believe in democracy, you must believe in it unconditionally. If you believe that men should be free, then, they should have the right of free association, of free speech, of free publication. Then, no law should permit those democratic processes to be set at nought, and no excuse, whether of security, should allow a government to be deterred from doing what it knows to be right, and what it must know to be right..."

Lee Kuan Yew, Legislative Assembly Debates, April 27, 1955.

"If it is not totalitarian to arrest a man and detain him, when you cannot charge him with any offence against any written law - if that is not what we have always cried out against in Fascist states - then what is it?… If we are to survive as a free democracy, then we must be prepared, in principle, to concede to our enemies - even those who do not subscribe to our views - as much constitutional rights as you concede yourself."

Opposition leader Lee Kuan Yew, Legislative Assembly Debates, Sept 21, 1955

"Repression, Sir is a habit that grows. I am told it is like making love-it is always easier the second time! The first time there may be pangs of conscience, a sense of guilt. But once embarked on this course with constant repetition you get more and more brazen in the attack. All you have to do is to dissolve organizations and societies and banish and detain the key political workers in these societies. Then miraculously everything is tranquil on the surface. Then an intimidated press and the government-controlled radio together can regularly sing your praises, and slowly and steadily the people are made to forget the evil things that have already been done, or if these things are referred to again they're conveniently distorted and distorted with impunity, because there will be no opposition to contradict."

Lee Kuan Yew as an opposition PAP member speaking to David Marshall, Singapore Legislative Assembly, Debates, 4 October, 1956.

"If we say that we believe in democracy, if we say that the fabric of a democratic society is one which allows for the free play of idea...then, in the name of all the gods, give that free play a chance to work within the constitutional framework."

Opposition leader Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore Legislative Assembly, Oct 4, 1956.

"Repression can only go up to a point. When it becomes too acute, the instruments of repression, namely the army and the police, have been proved time and time again in history to have turned their guns on their masters."

Opposition leader Lee Kuan Yew, Straits Times, May 5, 1959

"If I were in authority in Singapore indefinitely without having to ask those who are governed whether they like what is being done, then I have not the slightest doubt that I could govern much more effectively in their interests."

Radio Interview, 1960. Quoted in South-East Asia: A Political Profile, Damien Kingsbury (2001, p. 337)

Crazy Rich Asians is satire lah. Kevin Kwan writes satire. He pokes fun at cultures. As we all know, but often refuse to accept---all cultures contain aspects of stupidity which defy logic, and are "sticky" i.e. the "stick around" through many generations, for a long time...even if they no longer apply because the world has changed.

Kevin is Singapore-born lah. We should be proud of him. He's definitely amongst the current breed of "hot writers" on "the scene".

You might want to remind yourself that: politicians are the MINORITY. If not for the MAJORITY who are The Sheeple, those politicians would not have the office. So if a politician becomes wealthy because of their status and their office, it is in full-view of The Sheeple. If the Sheeple complain but not act according to what they spew from their ever louder and louder cheebye mouths, then why blame the politicians?

Najib and his Berkin-bagged wife Rosmah got fucking rich in broad daylight corruption for years and years. Everyone knew what the fuck was going on. Even if you blinked and missed a clue, when you opened your eyes a whole bunch of other clues was staring you right in the face---yes, it was that obvious. And people went crazy. The mob went insane. Yet NOTHING was done, until Dr M seized the opportunity. When the FBI got involved, they pointed to "inconsistencies", and Malaysian authorities dragged their feet, or just looked the other way. There was alot of hand-waving and throat-clearing, and a ton of PURE BULLSHIT in the press, before "investigations" got going.

Politicians are the MINORITY. Yet they have all the power---power granted to them explicitly and implicitly by The Sheeple. Forget "Government of the people for the people". Let's all take a deep breath and admit it, the truth might set you free, but it will piss you off first:

@ All

I'd be very suspicious of any politician---especially CAREER politician---who plays "the man of the people card" and tries to put on a facade that they are "just like one of us".

Occasionally you get an outlier like José Mujica, former president of Uruguay. He was humble and austere before he won the presidency, and he continued being himself. Whilst it is possible to have such a character in the highest office in the land, it is highly improbable that this will occur. Nice people don't usually get jobs like these.

Politics, wealth, power, professional sport, art, film, music and so on follow a power law pattern of distribution, characterised by "long tails". There are only very few at the top who earn the most money, achieve the most fame etc. and the rest of the ones counted have substantially less power, money influence etc. fall in the "long tails" of this distribution.

So yeah, I definitely do not trust any politician who plays to the masses by trying to come across as "the average person". That cunt is lying. He or she is gaming us.

@ 353 Virgo

To have something imposed on you is not an obligation. You are only obliged to do something if you first agreed to some form of "contract". A "social contract" is just a bullshit phrase designed to trick you into doing something you didn't voluntarily choose. NS is not an "obligation" even though people/ govt use that term. It is a form of LEGAL kidnapping/ slavery---take your pick, imposed by law (fiat) and backed up the threat of LEGAL violence (arrest, fine, imprisonment).

So anyone who "escapes" NS, IMO is a fucking champion. Any parent who manages to protect their male child from this nonsense deserves a sort of honour and prize.

Be proud of people like Kevin for what he has produced. Action, that's always the key. Action directed to your goal, by your passion, effort and will. Or as another banana---a jambu Asian American scientist Angela Duckworth puts it: GRIT. Bananas like Kevin have GRIT. That's why they achieve. (The science shows that GRIT is more important than intelligence, skill, station in life etc. science is backed up by numbers. Everything is NUMBERS )

To be elite at anything also conforms to numbers---as mentioned before the various patterns known collectively as "power law distributions"...winners take all. 80-99% of the "goodies" go to 1-20% of the TOP operators. That's fucking life mate. The numbers back it up.

You can take your "morality", "philosophy", "complaints and grievances" and shove them all up your ass, because in reality, they don't mean SHIT. Look at the motherfucking numbers. You like to gamble, so you know about probability. Why do you separate gambling from real life? They have more in common than you think! BTW, probability theory was derived from gambling. i.e. gambling came first, maths came later.

There is very little equality, and virtually no "fairness". So get used to it. Or don't. Up to you lah 🤓

WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 (Xinhua)

-- U.S. President Donald Trump Wednesday accused his former long-time personal lawyer Michael Cohen of "making stories" in order to get a "deal."

"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don't retain the services of Michael Cohen!" Trump tweeted.

Cohen has pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges, including campaign-finance violations, tax evasion and bank fraud at a federal court in Manhattan, New York.

"Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime," Trump said, adding "President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!"

In another tweet, Trump praised his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort as "a brave man."

"I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. 'Justice' took a 12 year old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to 'break' - make up stories in order to get a 'deal'. Such respect for a brave man!" Trump tweeted.

Manafort was found guilty of eight out of 18 criminal charges at a federal jury in Virginia on Tuesday. He has denied all the charges.

In court on Tuesday, Cohen reportedly said "in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," he kept information that would have been harmful to the candidate and the campaign from becoming public.

Cohen didn't mention Trump's name but it's widely thought his claim was a clear reference to the president.

"On or about summer 2016, in coordination and with and at the behest of the candidate, I and the CEO of a media company worked together to keep an individual with information that would be harmful to the candidate from publicly disclosing this information ... under which she received compensation of 150,000 dollars," Cohen was quoted as saying in court.

Cohen surrendered to the FBI earlier Tuesday. It remains unclear if the former Trump lawyer has committed to cooperate with the ongoing Special Counsel Robert Mueller probe over the alleged Russia meddling into the 2016 U.S. general elections.

Federal investigators raided Cohen's office, home and hotel room in New York earlier this year and seized various electronic devices and documents which reportedly include information that Cohen paid porn star Stormy Daniels so as to keep her silent about accusations of an affair with Trump.

Judge William Pauley set a sentencing date for Cohen for Dec. 12.

Kevin already 40 plus living in the USA and has not set foot back in sg. It will be stupid of him to come back just to serve jail time. USA is a big country so he won't have the need to come back. The only thing he needs to be concern about is when he travels, he may step inside a country that has a treaty with sg where he may be tangkat and send back here. In fact I think my Wife friends have two sons also run to Australia becoming Doctors there and no intention to come back to serve jail time also. Only the parents visit and I think they did not pose any bond as the kids left at a younger age they just scoot.😝 So wondering whether they can arrest the parents as they are the one who took the kids to Australia with the intention of migrating and evading NS so may be the law need to be updated? Humanity is at the crossroads. What seems to be the problem is always not the problem. But it takes up all our time and energy to try to solve it. Yet, with highly intelligent people and leaders, all over the world, past and present, humans are still unable to solve it. Because they are barking up the wrong tree!

So, what is the real problem with humanity?

If you can (if you have the capability, courage, resolve and wisdom) emigrate to a bigger and reasonably better country of your choice. Think not of yourself but think of your future generations.

99% of Singaporeans are either migrants (new citizens) or have migrant roots (old citizens). Therefore, each of you have your own roots - your fatherland.

Singapore was only meant to be a temporary place to escape hardship from the terrors of war and famine when the early migrants set foot here. Some of them were brought in by force by the British colonial masters. None of them had intention to stay permanently. In their hearts, they have always thought of returning to their fatherland. But political situation changed and Singapore became independent 53 years ago. All British Subjects automatically were forced to adopt Singapore Citizenship. Some smart one continued to retain their British Subject identity. With that, they could move to any of the 49 Commonwealth Countries like Australia, New Zealand, UK, etc.

Those who adopted the Singapore Citizenship just accepted their fate. They settled down and hope for the best. Their only hope was a better tomorrow. They procreated as many as they could. Until a new law came forth: "Two Is Enough". Procreation slowed down. Families became very small. More money to spend. Life became better and more comfortable. But the struggle continued..... Until today.

Is life better now? Has your life improved?

If yes, good for you.

If not, why not? What are you going to do about it? Can you do something about it? Can you?

Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️ said...

@ 643

When it comes to dodging the govt and its unjust laws, it is a free for all.

NS absconders do not directly affect anyone, and they ar a very small minority. Dodging NS is a BIG FUCKING DEAL because you can never return to Singapore and not be punished once you do it. You seal your fate...forever.

This is why although I applaude those who successfully do it, I don't recommend it. Do the NS, then emigrate. That way you can have the best of both worlds, elevate yourself to International Banana Status, treat your birthplace as Hotel Singapore, and make the loud-mouthed-absolute-moralists jealous.

Many people find living in Sinagpore very "siong". You have a govt who doesn't ever shut the fuck up and leave you alone (they control everything), it can be expensive if you're not earning much etc etc. However if you have PR in another cuntry, Singapore's strengths which accrue to foreigners more than they do to locals can be EXPLOITED for your PROFITABLE benefit.

Singaporeans are GREAT at seeking out LOBANGS and EXPLOITING THEM to maximize personal benefit. Even simple stuff like drving to JB to shop and fill up with petrol...if there's a lobang, Singaporeans will find it.

Overseas Singaporeans are a mighty force. Over the years the govt's relationship with the Singaporean diaspora has been distant, dismissive, accusatory and cold. However in recent times the govt has realised that overseas Singaporeans are actually a benefit to the cuntry and its international image.

Play the long, smart game I say. Do the NS, get it over...and then you have a significant advantage over the locals, and those who ran away.

The FHOG First Home Owner's Grant is only available to 1st home buyers. Many Singaporeans don't qualify because they've owned homes before.... many sold up to gather the funds to emigrate anyway.

Rules for new immigrants have changed since previous times. New immigrants cannot access many social programs until they've stayed a few years. Before many immigrants were grabbing as much "free stuff" as possible, as soon as possible. Then the govt changed the laws.
