Policy changes coming up

Heng Swee Kiat was reported to have said that more policy changes are in the card in Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally speech next week. The key areas expecting major changes are Housing, health care and education. Nothing was mentioned on the influx of foreigners and the loss of jobs to foreigners due to discrimination? I do hope Hsien Loong will take a personal interest in this and put his weight behind Chuan Jin to give him more clout and confidence to deal with foreigners and foreign companies practising discrimination against Singaporeans.

Boon Wan has solved some of the more urgent issues of insufficient housing supply with his ramping exercise. The backlog of enforced demand due to bad policies should have ease somewhat. Now we will have to see what changes the Govt will come up with. Will there be a fundamental policy shift to ensure that ALL Sinkies be allowed to buy his homes direct from the HDB and to do away with all the silly and stupid Sinkie discriminating policies of the past? Will Sinkies be allowed to be prudent like Boon Wan has said, not to over commit in buying properties beyond their means and be allowed to buy properties/HDB flats that suit their needs and not the size of their income? Would Sinkies be allowed to buy smaller flats if they so desired without being forced by the Govt to buy bigger flats and compromise on their retirement savings just because the Govt think it must be like dat?

The exhorbitant medical care cost must be brought down, at least in govt hospitals, and that they are not allowed to charge like private hospitals just because they are now called privatised. Govt privatised hospitals are built using public funds and have a duty to serve the people and not merely profits. Many senior citizens are waiting to be bankrupt by high medical bills.

Would there be a comprehensive medical insurance scheme for the senior citizens that will minimise the amount they have to pay in govt hospitals or for the govt to fully pay for the medical premiums of those above 65 or 70 and above? The thinking behind medical policy needs a thorough relook as the population ages as the cost is running to frightening and unaffordable level. To what extent is the Govt responsible to the elderly for their medical care and medical bills?

The slippery education policy, the cost and how many to be educated to tertiary level and whether the Govt is seriously looking at a paradigm shift, to educate Sinkies to be crane drivers and hawkers is something mesmerising and truly innovative to watch.

More important is the population size and the size of foreigners in the country. Is the 6.9m a forgone conclusion and the people must accept it with no exceptions or changes? Will foreigners still be allowed to dominate our employment scene, to kick the citizens aside, especially the PMETs and to rule over Sinkies?

What is the ideal percentage of foreigners for the island and should there be a need to obtain the consent of the Sinkies? Or should 77 MPs be allowed to decide the fate of this nation and its citizens without question?

What is going to happen to the Sinkies and the high cost of living?

Poor PM! ESM GCT just thrown him a curved ball calling for change to avert crisis and restore trust-ST 12 Aug
I do not think he will touch on the FT issue at even though the last few days news have surfaced the FT issue again - murder in CJK and death of a Irish woman in Queenstown.
Hi RB you must have ruffled some feathers some where. Some people are calling you a racist. So got to watch it before Police come knocking on your doors.

What I would like to hear from LHL in the forthcoming rally.

1. Let citizens decide on the type of HDB flats they wised to buy rather than impose on them to buy flats based on salary. Why drag the into a 20-30years loan. Who can guarantee them a job for life or not get retrench during their employment cycle. Govt always tells us to be prudent but they must let us do so.

2. Drastic reduction in healthcare cost in govt hospitals. Current authorities mindset seems to be "you got medisave/shield, so no problem" - really??

3. Reduce scholarships to foreigners and with the reduction, increase local scholarships. Remember if our institutions are good, many will pay and study here. So why spend on them when govt can do more for its citizens.

4. Make a strong commitment to reduce influx of foreigners. Don't NATO. Reverse the 6.9M policy.

A lot more other wishes so cutting to a short post.

Procastination in reversing unsound policies will be detrimental to our country and its citizens. One can only wish and hope the govt is serious in righting a wrong.

Hi oldhorse,

Thanks for the feedback. The internet is full of fanatics and extremists and they can accuse anyone of anything. The police would have more sense to react to such will accusations or else they will be running around non stop.

By the way, the article was posted by SouthernGlory and it was all about fanatics making use of Islam and not about Islam as a bad religion.

Initially I wanted to take it down, but when I read his content it was only about extremists which is a danger everywhere even in Singapore.

The govt too has been warning about extremists and the danger they posed. That is why ISA is still around.

Aiya!!!

Simply said, WE HAD created all these problems thru our short -shorted policies.

Short of making apologies by making us lose face, we now said must change the past policies in order for Singapore to survive and compete in the world

Should be short -sighted policies.

Apologises

All policies and decisions of a time that may be necessary and good could turn out bad when circumstances changed.

The Stop at Two policy then was necessary, though the execution was very harsh. Unfortunately it was left untouched for too long and without a strong message to reverse it when it outlived its usefulness and became a problem.

In fact many policies were good initially and if maintained in a moderate manner could still be relevant. Once they are allowed to go the extremes like ministerial pay, influx of foreigners, high property prices, car prices, high cost of living, then they became problems themselves and creating other problems as well.

Sure, you can always question them. But in no way does that obligate them to change their minds once policy is formulated ;-). Those MPs have a MANDATE TO GOVERN as they've been chosen by The Sheeple (who always get the government they deserve).

Good governance is about doing the "right" but "difficult" rational thing -- inspite of the NOISE -- which is irrational, emotional and thus has no basis whatsoever.

They are going to be TAXED MORE (indirectly) to pay for all the "goodies" and subsidies.

The middle/ working class is going to get kicked in the balls yet again and they will DESERVE IT for bering such douche bags in screaming at the government for "help".

Government "help" always comes with collective anal rape. Better get some lubrication. The government is going to fuck you good :-)

"I guess Mr Heng may be our next PM ....................."

The PAPigs are very predictable people.
Just like soldiers on the parade square.
They obviously have to promote Lee Hsien Loong very soon to Senior Minister.
Otherwise Lee Hsien Loong will be blamed for not being able to solve problems even after 10 years as Prime Minister.

Some seat warmer will of course be chosen to pretend to be "Prime Minister".
But we all know who is actually actually running the country.

Yes.
My money is on Heng Swee Keat to succeed Lee Hisen Loong as Prime Minister.
And Lee Hsien Loong to be promoted to Senior Minister to start a second career as author of many future books.

Now where and when have I seen this movie before?

Former PM Goh talked with much confidence, appears more 'zai' steady-calm and decisive than you know who.

Seriously they need to address the leadership succession issue.

Who would become the new deputy prime ministers ?

Matilar, I agreed that you better get your lubricant ready as many would like to screw your ass. Haha... Tio Bo?

I m pretty good in day dreaming ...........

......Mr Heng may be our next one-and-a-half term PM before Mr Chan actually takes over as the next PM ..........possible ?

"Who would become the new deputy prime ministers ?"

Does it really matter?
It will be just a repeat of the last 10 years.
We need a regime change.
We need a WP government.
Does not matter whether Low Thia Khiang says he is ready or not.
Does any Singaporean seriously think the PAPigs are ready to be government over the past 10 years?

Maybe Moses and the Israelites can afford to spend 40 years wandering around in the desert.
Singaporeans cannot afford another 10 years of dumb fucks running the country.

Chua Chin Leng aka redbean said...

Based on past precedents, after announcing all the goodies they will then ask, where is the money coming from. And you know the answer surely.

Maybe there is a change, that the reserves is of a good size and no need to keep pumping in to wait for purple rain. So the govt may decide to use the annual profits to give back to the people. Maybe only.

It would really be a big surprise if Hsien Loong calls it quit and a new PM is announced. Heng Swee Kiat is a bit too young. Tharman or Chee Hean will be just the right age.

Anonymous said...

.....tharman and teo chee hean too old for next PM...........heng would just nice..........he would then pass the baton to chan.........

Anonymous said...

1.My boss used to call all this the "no-change, change in policies".

2.Big nose Pinnochio Teo as PM?
God help us.

3.Tharman. Unlikely. Hardly any PAP Ministers uses his term "inclusive". Only GCT used "inclusive" recently.

Tharman will likely be promoted to mayor to keep him from out-shining the new PM.

The new PM will be a general no doubt - so he will only 'yes man' all the way to his elite boss including eliminating his own fellow country man.

Housing - build more 3 room flats and give every singaporeans who turned 18 one free 3 room flat.

Medical- give every elderly who turned 65 free medical services. we are a rich nation.

Jobs- give every singaporeans a job that pays reasonably (at least 1% of the pm pay).

Education - give 90% allocation of universities seats and scholarships to singaporeans.

Throw away the entitlement mentality. It is all bullshits. PM and his ministers entilted to so high pay but still so many problems created and unsolved. Who really has the entitlement mentality?

Where is the money going to come from to pay for all these policy goodies?

- from coe, erp, gst, ict, various stamp duties, parking fees, foreigners levies. Wondering where did all these monies go into?
