Singaporeans need to reclaim their country
Unhappy Singaporeans are talking about taking back control of their country, to decide what and where they want the country to go. Taking back the country would mean changing the policies to favour Singaporeans, like the number of foreigners in the country, housing prices, taking back their money in CPF, among many other things.
The importance of taking back control of our own country is becoming more important and of greater urgency. And the next GE could be a time of reckoning and tough decision making. Failing to take back control of the country would mean another 5 years of policies that they are unhappy with.
The above are views and expressions of unhappy Singaporeans in some quarters. The happy Singaporeans will definitely want the status quo to continue. The ratio of happy and unhappy Singaporeans is anyone’s guess. From past records, the number of unhappy Singaporeans translated into votes for the opposition, for a new party in power, was low. Is it because of the lack of option or could it also mean that the number of unhappy Singaporeans is in fact small.
Who knows better?

Claim back Singapore? Did it belongs to You and me? Me does not have a single say at all, because it belongs to my bosses. At least to me, they seemed to have own Singapore and the inhabitants in it.
You do not feel You are being owned by some people who lord over us? You have freedom and liberty??
patriot
You are quite right actually. The lord just proclaimed that the MRT was not crowded enough and more could be squeezed in.
Unhappy is one thing. Making use of their vote to express their unhappiness is another thing.
If they do not make use of the only avenue left, which is their vote, to express their unhappiness, nothing will ever change.
And whining is not going to do the job. You want to reclaim your country, you must be willing to make the sacrifice, like the citizens of Hougang and Potong Pasir. Never mind the unfair treatment. There is such a thing as retribution.
How many freedom fighters are rewarded in the short term? People like Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela took years to accomplish what they set out to do.
Make good use of your vote, live with it for better or for worse. You come out mentally stronger, spiritually comforted that you have done your duty as citizens and continue to follow your heart.
Unshakable faith in their fight for justice is what opposition voters are made of. That is why they voted opposition, election after election. They have nothing more to loose.
The people get the government they deserve.
And if some reckon that they've "lost" their country, that's too bad.
The Happy Singaporeans have won!
You are right in that count. There are more happy Singaporeans than unhappy ones. At least 80% of Singaporeans are very happy seeing how their HDB flats appreciate in value daily. Up, up, up and up.
