Zelenskyy is now demonizing the International Paralympic Committee for allowing Russia and Belarus to compete at the Paralympics, claiming it is betraying the 'Olympic Value'.

What 'Olympic Value' is he talking about when the Olympics had already been betrayed by those controlling the body, by allowing its mission to be weaponized by political influence orchestrated by the West in order to deny participation by countries they cannot agree with. Aren't sports supposed to be apolitical?

On the same argument, aren't the UN betraying its credibility and value by allowing Netanyahu, a criminal wanted by the ICC, to attend and speak at the UN. On the other hand, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas was prevented from attending the UN meeting after failing to be granted a visa for his stand over the Palestinian Statehood.

Now another move is on the cards to punish Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, over his call to the UN to punish Trump over his complicity in genocides and the attacks on Venezuelan boats. Colombia is a strategic partner of the USA for decades and this could be the beginning of a falling out. Calls have already surfaced about banning Gustavo Petro from going to the USA.

As tariff collection goes up, consumer spending will go up too, due to price increases. That does not, in reality, shows that the economy is doing well and that consumers are spending more. The fact is they are only 'paying' more but buying less for the buck. How does that equate to a booming economy that only the USA leaders can boast about.

USA leaders like Howard Lutnick are still flogging a dead horse, telling USA consumers and people around the world that other countries are paying those tariffs. I can't figure out how in the world he is expecting USA consumers to believe him when they are facing price escalation each time they blink. Those who can see the picture must be wondering in what world is Howard Lutnick living in.

No more licensed websites after TR Emeritus went off line

 The TR Emeritus, the last of the licensed Singapore website on current affairs has been mothballed for a while. TOC is operating in Taiwan, I think. Oops, Mothership is now operating like a business concern, an approved main media. Looks like there are no or not many local current affairs website left other than those related to food and pets and hobbies.

Saw on the news that they are looking at unlicensed websites and may take actions. I presume this will include blogs like mysingaporenews as well. I have received a test prompt from MHA in my mobile. 

My position is very simple. If they don't like what I am posting, just drop me a line to close it and I will stop posting. No need to sweat the small stuff. The faces in Phoenix Park are all aliens to me now.

While China has a strategic planning process, America has neither a plan nor a strategy, says economist Stephen S Roach.

The stark leadership style between America and China cannot be more evident today. One depending on an ancient system of democracy but turning out more like democrazy, electing any Tom, Dick and Harry, to run a modern govt of a scale never seen before. The complexity of todays' govt is far from the economy of cowboys and Red Indians with so many areas of concern and interests that need specialists and well trained professionals to manage, not nitwits, scoundreds, cheats and conmen. 

Trump's cabinet consists of a bunch of D graders acting as if they are the smartest Americans to run the country when D stands for daft, dumb, degraded, dunces, dense, dimwit, disgusting, devious, dunderhead....... There is no way to run a country the size America with makeshift political clowns. Trump is treating the running of America like a mafia don, demanding this and that with threats and terror to get what he wants.

On the other hand, China carefully cultivated and trained an army of bureaucrats and statesmen who are in the business for life, and picked from the best of the cohorts available, not conmen, TV jokers and gangsters.

Their carefully built up national reserves are carefully and strategically invested in technology and industries of the future, not in anything that makes money, or simply going to war to acquire land to build holiday resorts or real estates. Here lies the difference, every investment is carefully thought through by experts with a long term view, not on the spur of the moment because one politician claimed he has connection or know someone and can make a quick buck.

The investments in BRI, investments in ports and infrastructure, solar technology, EVs, high end chips. quantum technology, AI, aeronautics, marine engineering, high speed train etc etc are the manifestation of deep and strategic thinkings, unlike the thinking or no thinking or gangsters and conmen.

Where is America today and where it is heading vis a vis China are all there for the world to see.
