If you cannot afford to buy, then rent
The high cost of living and runaway property prices in Singapore have started to affect Singaporeans in their choices in life. The early mantra of the PAP govt was to give every Singaporean a roof over his head, ie a house or flat. Home ownership was the way to win the hearts of Singaporean voters. Vote the PAP for a flat to call your own. Give every citizens a stake in the island.
This policy has done well for the PAP and also for Singaporeans. Singapore is proud to boast to the world that it has the highest percentage of home ownership in the world. Never mind if it is only for 99 years, or 99 year leasehold. It is long enough for one or two generations to live in.
Govt flats then were really cheap when it started. Yes, it is no shame to call the flats built in the 60s and 70s cheap. Less than $7,000 for a 3 room flat in Queenstown, less than $30,000 for a 5 room flat in Holland Village. The numbers are like fiction, unbelievable when the prices today for a 3 room flat could be $400k an a 5 room flat costing more than a million dollar.
For some Singaporeans, or more and more Singaporeans, it is no joke trying to service a $500k housing mortgage over 30 years with 2 incomes, ie two employees' pay. They pray that they would not lose their jobs in the 30 years or paying the instalments would not be easy. But with the changing economic landscape and the easy influx of foreigners, losing their jobs to foreigners is the norm. Many Singaporeans are getting sacked or retrenched prematurely or being employed on short term contracts. This is highly undesirable when there is a huge mortgage hanging on their necks.
Then there were the more adventurous that took profits took early, selling their two choices of the apple, ie two HDB flats and not allow to buy a third flat from the govt and unable to pay for a resale flat costing hundreds of thousands or more than a million.
Therefore, many Singaporeans would end up unable to buy a flat and have to rent. Yes, no fish, prawns also ok. Can't buy a flat, go rent one. This problem is going to escalate and accumulate over the years. Some rich people also cannot afford to buy private properties, and not qualified for HDB flats also started to rent landed properties as their residents. This is looking like a new trend. Even ministers are doing so. Perhaps they should raise the salary of ministers so that they can afford to buy homes instead of renting. Homeownership is for Singapoeans to have a stake in the island so that they have a stake to defend and protect. Maybe Singapore can depend on foreigners to defend the island now that many also have a stake in the island. Poor thing if Singaporean cannot afford to buy homes and have nothing to defend in the island.
Killing of minorities in Manipur is internal problem. The Americans would not care.
What happened in Manipur is exactly the same modus
operandi used against the Muslims in India by the Hindu Government. More
than 125 people have since died when the ethnic violence erupted in
May. Police reports were made over the parading of the two naked women
and the gang rape that followed more than two months ago, but the police
turned a blind eye.
The BJP Government in Manipur did not do
anything about it, until the video of the parading and gang rape started
circulating on Youtube, by which time it was not possible to hide the
truth after violence erupted. Troops were sent in, but failed to quell
the anger. As one person commented, after all the violence in Manipur
for over two months, Modi just came out days ago to talk about it, when
he realised the truth could not be covered. What was the PM doing all
this time? Enjoying his adulation by Indians in the USA! Obviously he
thinks it will work using the same way he dealt with the Muslim issue,
so long as the Hindus are in charge and overseeing the mistreatment. No
complaints by the USA right? It is what really matters.
The way
Indians do things, slow and lazily, seems to be the normal way of taking
care of things. But slow and steady is not going to work in a volatile
situation like this, and will not just go away. Slow and steady may work
with high speed rail building, where they can take half a century to
complete and nobody gets killed. Or building reasonable toilets after
five thousand years.
Oh, by the way, just listen to what Junkie
Joe had to say about the situation in Manipur - 'That is an internal
problem for India'. Really? Wasn't Xinjiang an internal problem for
China as well? If more than 125 people had died in Xinjiang due to the
action of the Chinese Government to stop radicalisation, what do you
think the USA and its poodles will say. The sky would have fallen and
rabid dogs would be barking day and night.
The hypocrisy is really absolute and stinks to high heaven.

India has a big role to play in USA's agenda vis a vis China.
The
USA knows how to leverage its bets knowing that India and China are not
on good terms. Same with Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Same with
Vietnam and China. Same with Japan and China and same with Taiwan and
China. How else can the prospect be so good for the Military Industrial
Complex without stirring shit. With Nato giving it unlimited businesses
resulting from replenishment of obsolete weapons sent to Ukraine for
target practice by the Russians, and with the China issue, things are
really looking good for the MIC.
Now trying very hard to pry
India away from Russia with their undying love for the Hindus. It is
very difficult for the USA to profess the same love for the Muslims in
India, as they did in Xinjiang, while at the same time professing their
love for the Hindus, so brushing that aside as 'internal problems' for
India, everything is settled as far as it is concerned.
In
Manipur, it is the ruling Meitei Hindus against the Christian Kukis,
with the Hindus in power and giving little benefit to the Kukis, which
gives rise to the present situation. All it needed was a spark to ignite
the ethnic violence. Now, the USA also cannot profess their loving DNA
for the Kukis and at the same time giving so much love to the Hindus.
So, like the Muslim issue, just brush it away as an 'internal problem'
for India.
India has lots of problems with its many ethnic
groups. There is the Muslim problem, the Sikh problem, now the Kukis
problem. But never mind, just let India solve it the Indian way, and
everything will be fine.

Solomon Islands - Australia is so scared! Really?
HUGE THREAT! U.S. Warns China Against Building Military Bases in the Solomon Islands
This is just another of the hysterical headlines of American and Australian propaganda machine against the China Solomon Security Cooperation Pact. And the Australians are acting and saying they are scared of this Pact, that China is putting a hundred policemen in the Solomon Islands to maintain order and security but would threaten the security of Australia. The next thing they might do is to make all scared Australians to seek psychiatric treatment before they go insane. Australia, claiming to be the most powerful military state in the region, is afraid of 100 Chinese policemen, they are having sleepless night, nightmares, and wetting their pants. Poor things! The pretension is hardly comical? Who are they conning?
And the Americans have signed a military pact with Papua New Guinea to station American soldiers and nuclear weapons in PNG. Are the Australians scared? Or are the Indonesians scared? The lying and mischievous white Australians may have something to be really scared about. Their forceful and unlawful occupation of Australia, stolen from the hapless and defenceless aborigines, will get more notice by the world.
The whole world is asking, on what legal basis are the white Europeans occupying the island continent of Australia? When are they going to return the island to its rightful owners? When and how are they going to pay for their crimes and massacres of the aborigines, abusing their human rights and the right to their homeland?
And their bullying and oppression of the Pacific Islanders, controlling them and preventing them from economic development and living a better life, not allowing the Islanders their freedom to choose their friends and to develop their economies of their own choice. The Australians and the Americans are still trying very hard to control and subvert these islands as their colonies.
The leaders of these islanders have been left on their own, to be poor islanders depending on the charity of the Australians when the Australians chose to be generous as and when they like it. Now China is coming in to show the islanders that they can work to improve their economic well being and attain a better standard of living, without having to live on the charity of others. And the Australians would not allow it, the Americans would not allow it as a richer island populations would be more difficult to control and suppress. They just want to put the islanders in their pockets like they have done for centuries and forget about them, with time stood still, no progress, no development, for the safety of Australians.
Oh, they recognise China and not Taiwan but want the islanders to recognise Taiwan and not China.
Below are some comments in Youtube on what is happening in the Pacific Islands.
@bluefood9720 2 months ago Why is the West condemning countries who switched from TW to CCP when they themselves made the switch decades ago? Maybe condemning is too strong a word. But you know what I mean don't you?
It's OK for America and NATO to build bases wherever they like, but not China. Hypocrisy and insecurity abounds.

The whole world is starting to get fed up of USA's hegemony and bullying tactics as if the whole world belongs to them.

China build economic infrastructures, America build military bases.
@sepam82 2 months ago
Even if China use the port for their naval service the USA has no right to interfere since Solomon islands is a sovereign state
@Alex-Rainmaker 2 months ago
US alone has more than 800 military bases worldwide. And they are warning China not to do it?
@larrysherk 2 months ago
If the United States would like to make suggestions about where China can have military bases, it would be a good start if the United States closed its 870 (more or less) bases and brought out troops and equipment home. The concept of "empire" has been dead for a very long time.
@osiris2u 2 months ago
If the US proceeds to build the 4 military bases in the Philippines and continues to supply weapons to Taiwan, China should add a naval base to the port in Solomon Island.
@victorteo4783 2 months ago (edited)
US warning China in building military base in the Solomon Island? What a joke! How many military bases US have? 800+ for what? Think you controlled the world?
