Importing electricity - Fools will never learn

SINGAPORE: A trial which will see Singapore import electricity from Peninsular Malaysia will be a "useful first step" in preparation for further moves to connect to the regional power grid, said experts.

Announced in late October, the trial will see Singapore import 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Malaysia for two years. This will make up about 1.5 per cent of Singapore’s peak electricity demand.

The move is part of Singapore's plan to strengthen the "regional grid architecture", said Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing in a keynote speech delivered at the opening of the Singapore International Energy Week in October. 

“This will allow the region to share the clean energy sources that different countries may have, and we’ll start this with Malaysia," he said. "Once the concept takes off, we’ll be able to extend this to other regional players." CNA

The above article proudly told the story of Singapore experimenting with importing electricity from Malaysia. Unbelieveable is the word that came to my mind. Stupidity has no cure also popped up. Would Singapore ever learn from the past, the painful past when we were squeezed by the balls by Malaysia, threatening to cut off our water supply?  Even Indonesia at one point wanted to cut off our supply of natural gas. Now they cancelled the HSR with very serious consequences for Singapore.

What do these mean to Singapore's viability and survival as a nation state? How can a nation, so small, so vulnerable, allows its essential services to be dependent on foreign suppliers, especially those that have exhibited very hostile behaviour towards Singapore and wanting to use the supply and control of essential services to strangle us?

In time of peace, everything looks so fine if one just look as far as the tip of the nose. But politics and international relations can turn sour, turn foul over night and the sleeping partner could turn enemy. Is this too difficult to understand?

But we need more electricity, more power, more water! Really? Nobody is forcing Singapore to expand its population beyond its limited land and resources. Nobody is saying that economic growth is only through population growth. Anyone toying with unlimited population growth is toying with our future, endangering our future. It is an existential issue.

Do not put too much into the mouth and get choke to death. Knowing our limitations and live with those limitations is only being rational and practical, not delusional and gambling with our future. Unless there is new technology that can create water/electricity without depending on our potential enemies, then go ahead. To pursue ambitious economic growth and compromising our security and survival by placing trust and dependency on external parties that have proven untrustworthy is stupidity in the extreme.

Being screwed once is painful but still bearable and we can pick ourselves up, like the water problem by building our own water resources. This is not enough a lesson to learn to be independent? Being screwed a second time, by offering our ass, what to call it? And making long term national plans without the benefits of hindsight, without considering historical precedents, is simply naive and exposing signs of ignorance. Putting faith and trust in the goodwill of potential enemies are simply unmentionable.

It is only 1.5% of our peak requirement, so it is safe. Is that so? Do we want our balls to be squeezed a second time? Drug addiction always starts small and then gets to the point of no return, quite similar to our growing population policy. The balloon must keep on growing....

PS. Just stop the dangerous plan to keep on increasing our population to a point of no return, to undermine our viability as a small island state. Plan to live within our means is an age old wisdom. If we don't have wild ambition of unlimited population growth, we would not need to gamble and make precarious plans that could compromise our well beings and existence. 

In the past we have depended on real foreign experts from the first world to formulate our economic development plans. Then we did not have the talents to do so. Today, do we still need to depend on foreigners to plan for us, do we blindly follow the recommendations of foreigners without thinking and analysing the merits of the plan? Maybe we need to, because we have no talents anymore even after paying them in the millions. And any foreigner is a better talent than our millionaires despite the many frauds that were exposed in the academia.

Did someone say first world Singapore is now depending on third world talents to move back into the third world? If third world talents are so talented, their talents and great ideas would make their third world countries first world, they need not be here to teach the first world nitwits how to progress to third world.

To usher in the new year 2021, Singapore has gladly imported 27 new cases of COVID-19 infected people and MOM has reported at least a total of 30 confirmed cases in its first instalment of creative reporting of COVID-19 infections of the day. The second installment of the creative reporting is expected to be done by MOM in a press release tonight.

As such, Singapore has steadily reached a record total of 58,629 confirmed Covid19 infected cases, for the whole year of 2020, and happily counting for more cases to be added in the year 2021. Such enthusiasm is unparalleled in Asia!

There are also three cases detected in the community, an indication that no report of community infections in the past few weeks does not necessarily mean that there are no infected people walking around freely in the community. It only means that the detection system is weak or non-existent.

One of the three newly detected persons in the community is a family member of the PSA Marine harbour pilot whose infection was confirmed yesterday, 31 December.

Another two cases are the close contacts of the marine surveyor at Lloyd’s Register Singapore and a 14-year-old Raffles Girls’ School student, probably just came back from India.

The 27 imported cases have only been carelessly put on Stay-Home Notice but not quarantined. Amongst them, 5 are Singaporeans (possibly new citizens from India?), 8 are PRs (possibly from CECA Indians?) and 14 are foreign domestic workers (possibly from Indonesia, Philippines and Myanmar?).

MOM does not want to report which nationalities and countries the imported COVID-19 infected persons are from. We no choice but have to keep guessing and speculating and assume that they are most probably from countries that have highest numbers of COVID-19 cases, such as USA, Brazil and India.

As for the imported infected domestic workers, we have to assume that they are from our main sources of supply, i.e. Indonesia, Philippines and Myanmar. Can't go far wrong, is it not?

With creative reporting being the fashion of the day, our receiving-end brains must rise up to the occasion to be more creative in our thinking and deductions, so as to get a more realistic picture at the end of the day.

Trump's $2,000 gambit at the expense of the American poor

 WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's push for bigger $2,000 COVID-19 relief checks stalled out Tuesday in the Senate as Republicans blocked a swift vote proposed by Democrats and split within their own ranks over whether to boost spending or defy the White House. Yahoo News.

The Republican lawmakers and Trump are thick in a game of deceit using the suffering of the poor Americans as their gambling chips. When the two parties of the House were negotiating for the amountof relief for the poor Americans, the Republicans bid down the sum proposed by the Democrats and eventually settled for a miserable $600. The Democrats could not push for more as this sum looked like the position of Trump as the most he would agree and the case was made by the Republican lawmakers.

And when this was presented to Trump for signature, he promptly refused and asked for a bigger sum of $2,000. When didn't Trump told his Republican lawmakers in the first place and this could save a lot of haggling and time and the cheque of $2,000, instead of $600 could be sent out to the American poor before Christmas?

Why the conflicting positions between Trump and his Republican lawmakers.  Did they talked about this and agreed to it? The Republican lawmakers could not go to negotiate with the Democrats without knowing what Trump wanted. Did Trump instruct them to push it down so that he could turn it down to demand for more? The whole thing looked like a fix up by Trump and his Republican lawmakers to make Trump looked good at the expense of the poor Americans not getting their relief cheques before Christmas.  They were at the mercy of Trump and his Republican lawmakers they trusted and voted into Congress as their representatives.

The Democrat lawmakers looked back for putting up a miserly $600 for Trump to approve. They saw through the scheme and quickly put up a case for $2,000 as demanded by Trump to call Trump's bluff. By rushing this $2,000 cheque through, the Democrats are saying they too agreed to the sum and it was the Republican lawmakers that were opposed to it. Trump could not claim credit for it.

The new bill was quickly tabled for the Senate to pass.  And guess what, the Republican senators again pulled the rug and rejected this new amount. What game is Trump and his Republican lawmakers and senators playing? Who is suffering from this game of deceit?

Did the poor Americans know who is playing around with their sufferings? Did Trump and his Republican representatives and senators really care about the well being of the American poor? Who is lying to the American poor and treating them as pawns to this power play?

Happy New Year to everyone. Hope the poor Americans could celebrate their New Year and not starving because the relief cheques came late.

Western media and historians wrote about Colonialism as if it is something glory in nature, a triumph of the West against the people of the world.  The above are some of the major crimes of Colonialism inflicted on the people of the world with no regards to human rights, rights to properties, national territorial integrity and the subjugation of natives of respective countries turning them into slaves aka subjects of the Empires. Colonialism in short is about killings and forcefully taking over other people's lives, land and properties.

The glorification of Colonialism and the propaganda pushed out by the West with their control of western media have numbed the minds of the colonised people to the point that they accepted them as part of natural history for the West to conquer, kill, loot and plunder their land and subdued them as sub humans, totally forgetting about the violations to their rights as human beans and their human rights to live as free people. The robbing of their land and resources have been passed off as an acceptable process, nothing to quibble about.

The debt Britain owed to China alone is so huge that the selling of the whole British Isle to repay China would still not be enough. The crimes committed by the British against China and Chinese people include the following:

1. Forcefully selling opium to the Chinese people by British gunboats for several decades.

2. Conducted two wars against China just to sell opium to the Chinese people, leading to death and destruction of millions of Chinese people and properties.

3. Burning down of the Summer Palace but before looting all the treasures in the Palace.

4. Forcing China to pay war reparations and indemnities in the hundreds of millions of silver taels that bankrupted the Chinese government of the day for more than a century, leading to poverty across China.

5. Forcing China to sign Unequal Treaties ending in losing control of Chinese sovereignty and income from trade and tariffs.

6. Signing of concessions of Chinese land in Shanghai.

7. Seizing Hong Kong and New Territories from China for 150 years.

8. Semi colonised China and humiliating China and dignity of Chinese people for more than a century.

Just these eight items alone, if quantified into monetary terms, would be more than the value of selling the whole British Isle to compensate China for the sufferings and destruction of the two Opium Wars and other wars fought to subdue China.

The British must remember that the debt to China must be paid one day. And so is the debt to the rest of the colonised countries in Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific Islands. The conquest and rule of India for more than two centuries would be a debt far greater than what they have to pay to China.

Britain would one day be carved out by the rest of the world that had fallen victims to the British Empire. Every 'Commonwealth' country has a right to demand for compensation from the British for invading their countries and plundering their countries and depriving them of human rights and human decency.

And the British is not alone.  All the European powers would have to pay back as well. Their crimes against the world has yet to be settled and will be settled one day. Covid19 is doing the weakening of the western ex colonial powers for a start. The reset button has been activated.

Wars are vicious, cruel, uncivilised, destructive to lives and properties and must be stopped. Civilised people do not resort to wars at the slightest excuse. Only wildlife, primitive aggressive beans that could not be civilised, would want to fight wars everyday.

The US, UK and EU have rolled out the westerners-based experimental Pfizer vaccine for Covid-19 in a big way, with a fanfare like never before happened in the history of medical science.

It is advertised and publicised so vehemently, vigorously and widely as though it is a huge global political campaign to win the hearts and minds, and the approval and acceptance, of the voiceless and powerless masses (as if they are so important to the propagandist and the protagonist).

Sing-along Singapore will also begin its Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination "exercise" on December 30, with health-care workers at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) the first to be guinea-pigs to go through this mass experiment of a lifetime.

Other health-care workers at public health-care institutions as well as private hospitals will be experimented in the subsequent weeks.

Next in line will be the seniors aged 70 and above. They will receive their jabs from Feb 2021 onwards on a voluntary basis (unlike your coffin money in your savings with the CPF Board being siphoned off by compulsory premium deductions annually without your consent).

Other Singaporeans and free-riding long-term residents who are medically eligible for vaccination will follow on after that. No one will be left behind.

The MOH statement said that the "Expert Committee on Covid-19 Vaccination", which MOH had convened to make recommendations to the government on Singapore's vaccination strategy to tackle the disease, submitted its recommendations on December 24.

The cost of each jab is a jealously guarded secret. Though thr vaccination is said to be free. The money has to come from someone somewhere. Money doesn't drop from the sky. Bird shits do.

The whole experimental vaccine exercise is not free. Money ultimately has to be paid by the taxpayers - that's YOU!

The corrupt politicians, the corrupt approving authorities' officials and the owners of the big pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna will be laughing all the way to their banks, and also laughing at the guinea-pigs.
