Fake moral superiority or moral righteousness

The personal indiscretion of public figures is now the talk of the town (in the social media only) and receiving unnecessarily extra attention that should not be the case. And ministers have been pleading for privacy and to respect and protect the innocent parties like children and family members. Such calls for decency were a bit unnatural, hypocritical and not necessary when decency and privacy were respected in the past when others fell from grace due to such indiscretion. Many politicians left the scene quietly without anyone knowing what was happening, until Yaw Shin Long’s case.  Many ‘gooder’ than good people were asking for his blood, wanted to drag him through the mud. Must tell, must tell, for the sake of transparency and accountability, must tell all.

Who were the culprits or the most indecent ones calling for more details of such discretions to be aired in public just to score political points. Kee chiu please.

Humans are all subject to temptations of all kinds, greed, power, sex, corruption just to mention a few. It is human to err but what to do? The offenders often withdrew and felt guilty of what they had done which was enough a punishment. There is no need to rub it in with more salt or to make a public issue to embarrass the offenders. Whether one forgives the offender or otherwise is a personal choice.  And if it is a crime, the law would take its natural course. If it is a moral or ethical issue, the court of social justice and conscience would extract the price accordingly.

The most decent and honest man in this regard was Lee Kuan Yew. When faced with such an embarrassing situation, he said, ‘I do not expect my ministers to be celibate… but if it becomes an issue, they should just resign.’ This is as close to what he actually said then. He did not call for more accountability and details to be aired in the public. Several of his ministers just resigned and left quietly. It is a private matter to be dealt with by the affected parties, and legally if it is a legal issue.

Unfortunately we have more than righteous, holy and morally spotless people today to demand a public airing and dressing down for personal indiscretions. How decent are these people? I am not writing this to defend or protect the offenders.  Just cannot tahan the hypocrisy of rogues behaving like priests and angels. Wait for the day when they are in the shoes of the offenders.  Maybe they realized their past follies and are asking for privacy now for reasons that served their interests best.

100 marks for this piece.

Had they spared us the details, they would not have gotten the return strokes.

Under LKY, there was no need to justify the continued existence of one's present position. Just resign and spare us the details of "the right thing to do etc". One did a morally wrong thing and that's it.

Time has changed?

Why?

In 1981, Anson seat was vacated becos the then MP Devan Nair needed to step down to assume the Presidency after the passing of then President Benjamin Sheares .......

This is church or religious business at work. The dirtier it is, the more souls, and cash, they clollect for the alter.

Even for such compelling reason to serve and therefore vacating the seat, the subsequent result favoured the challenger in the ensuing BE?

In the 1980 GE, then MP for Anson SMC ward Devan Nair won by an UNBELIEVABLE WHOPPING 84.1% ......

But the BE in Anson about 10 months later in 1981 was equally UNBELIEVABLE AND SHOCKING?

In 1981 BE in Anson, the challenger eventually won by 51.9% in a 3-corner fight ......

The swing was like ( 84.1 - 47.1 )% ......?

A WHOPPING, EYE-POPPING, JAW-DROPPING swing of 37%?

Do you think a sex video would have been a good way to immortalize this entire episode?

Some more at that time, all the old guards stalwarts like then DPM Goh Keng Swee, Toh Chin Chye etc were still in the ruling government .....?

And such a result took place barely 10 months ( Oct 1981 ) after it was won by the incumbent 84.1% to 15.9% in the DEC 1980 GE?

The eventual BE result ( Oct 1981 ) in Anson was 51.9% vs 47.1% with the "gatecrashin 3rd candidate" losing his deposit having garnered about less than 1% of votes ......

In a BE, factors such as ground work, duration of grassroot activities etc may not carry significant weight as compared to a nationwide GE, evidenced by subsequent and past statistics and results in previous by-elections EMPIRICALLY?

Technically, if based on empirical examples of past by-elections, even 3rd line candidates can overturned an overwhelming majority as evidenced in Pui Soh ( Jan 2013 PE BE ) dealing a crushing blow to the asshole surgeon ( English not powderful enough, forgot the medical term for surgeons specialising in patients backsides, no offence intended ..... ) with a relatively sizeable swing of about 15% as compared to the 2011 GE result in PE?

If heavyweights like JBJ stepped in as shown and evidenced in the 1981 Anson BE, the swing was an astonishing and ASTOUNDING 37%?

It never was about morality or immorality. It has always been about money and power.

It's not a matter of Aung Juan winning the challenge but by how BIG a margin?

Coupled with Aung Juan IGNORING all the smoke screens, confusions etc drummed up by "moles, traitors and double-crossing agents" to puncture Aung Juan's self-belief and chances ........ and SINGLE-MINDED, RELENTLESSLY taking advantage of each passing ( extra ) day to walk the ( relatively small ) ground in Bt Buttock, muster more resources and support from volunteers etc, the winning margin might widen to the highest a challenger ever ACCOMPLISHED?

Aung Juan is too smart and too old bird to be FOOLED and DETERED by some naysayers ( "moles, traitors etc" )

There s no law against sticking your dick in an american pie. However, there is a law against sticking your dick in your dog backside. Nations are divided on sticking your dick in human backside though...especially religious cuntries.

MP broke no laws. only his vows which is his own business really. If the wife has issue, divorce him. If not, have threesome lol

You guys dun be jealous of others having extras to hug when you do not have. A bunch of kiabor so happy to see others caught with pant down.
I am thinking of setting up a school to conduct related courses.Courses on how to avoid being suspected when keeping mistress.
Other than sleeping with someone's wife, men having affair with more partners should not be seen as a sin.
It's an achievement to me.
So sad to see our talents losing their titles and I foresee this is not the last case.
Others ask what's wrong with making more money.
Poor cheekopek like me can only ask What's wrong with hugging more meimeis.Am I asking for too much?

Morally right or superior is not the issue in this pap case.
The families of both man and woman should be prepared outsiders, including other pap members might ridicule them and family members.
Both have sexual partners, wife and husband, Greed for further sexual encounters implied lacking of self control and immaturity.
From other party members point of view, sexual relationship between mp and party member will lead to favoritism, for the woman and against other party members interests.
If a mp has limited self control, he might use his power to acquire sexual advantages. This can lead to harassment.

The pap has twice demonstrated to public, it lacks control on mp s ethical behavior. Both cases were discovered by the boy friend or husband before went public. And the mp resigned to end the matters. If such behavior happened in a company, the manager involved will be sacked and others will be warned to avoid office romance. Its important to talk about it to shape a culture. This is common. By discouraging others to talk about such case, parties involved were not sacked, such treatment is too mild, agree?

This is one reason why the old ducks need to die out and take their bad ideas and "morality" with them.

These days having extra martial relations is not a big deal. Many modern marriages are "open" and couples set their own rules as to what is acceptable and what's not. Adultery has been off the law books for decades now.

"Morality" is not absolute, unless it's based in religion, and religious based morality can be simply discarded because it's based on BULLSHIT.

What's important is if the people involved in "indiscretions" can do their jobs and perform their duties.

What CONSENSUAL ACTIVITIES adults engage in in their private time and space is no one else's business.

The PAP is not a moral arbiter, nor is anyone else for that matter.

Until Singaporeans can adopt and behave in ways that promote "live and let live" the society will continue to be shallow and immature. If the society is like that, then so too will the government they vote in be EXACTLY THE SAME.

Got holier-than-thou? Good. Keep on casting stones then! 😇😇

Old man, for all his and arrogance did know how to handle people who are morally bankrupt but did not run foul of the law.
He also say gays should be accepted by Society when many conservatives think otherwise.
Remember during his time some Ministers would just suddenly been dropped and disappeared from the scene. There was no hangin of dirty linen in public.
It was the next generation of Minitoots that go baying for blood when they see an opportunity in the YSL's case without thinking that Karma would bite them back not once but twice.
Now all we see is the hypocrisy of their folly by keeping quiet.

>> He also say gays should be accepted by Society when many conservatives think otherwise. <<

Unfortunately these old ducks are still around. It is already bad that they consider "doing gay activities" to be "immoral", but they take it a step further: being gay (or LGBT) itself is some how "immoral".

Luckily, everyone dies, eventually!, taking their shitty ideas with them! Unfortunately nurder is against the law, so we're prohibited from KILLING these old bigoted motherfuckers. :(

Aiya ......

The crux of the issues is not what, who, why but the Buttock Mountain residents views and values in their hearts?

Maybe someone can go to coffeeshops and hawkers centres in Mountain Buttock to ask patrons what their preferred food are?

Anonymous said...

Perhaps some will die die must eat rojak and prata?

And it taste better to eat nasi curry with bare fingers?

Well, perhaps red beans, black beans, patriotic beans, gongdaikia beans, soya beans like to savour their every meal using their bare fingers to eat rice with curry sauce, etc?

Anonymous said...

If the majority of the Buttock山的居民prefer to eat their菜饭using their fingers from tomorrow onwards or some human beans in MBFC tomorrow onwards decide to ditch forks and spoons or chop sticks and use their bare fingers to eat 经济菜饭 or Bakuteh rice, then so be it lor .....?

Maybe, perhaps maybe residents of Mount Buttock very soon would be eating curry nasi for lunch and dinner and some more using their bare fingers instead of forks and spoons or chop sticks?

It seems many EXPURTS are forecasting such a development in Mount Buttock?

Anonymous said...

In the end, what matters is what concern their worth living this life?

Should they eat nasi curry or prata with bare fingers bcos someone said so or think is good for them?

And they think that if they use forks and spoons to eat the food, then the food taste like the smell in the rubbish dump?
