Why is the Govt insisting on using 24 hr PSI?

For all practical and commonsensical reasons, the people want a current PSI number to make decisions on their daily activities. For all the nonsensical and unbelievable reasons, the Govt keeps on telling the people that the best reading of the PSI is the 24 hr one and 3 hour is second best. They are not going to give to the people the current PSI that the people want. Why?

I only have one explanation. It is like reporting on the average income of the population or workers. Average income of workers is $3,000 or thereabout. They are not going to report about the last 10 percent’s incomes. They are not going to report on the top 10 percent’s income or the top 1 percent’s income. The answer is obvious. No explanation needed. The real and current PSI can be alarming and the Govt does not want to alarm the people. Neither should the people earning $3,000 a month need to know about people earning $100k or $300k a month.

And this is a Govt that takes pride in telling the people that they will listen to the people. Or did I hear wrongly? Why is it that everyone is screaming their heads off for a current PSI but the Govt does not seem to hear what the people want? The people will not see the current PSI on the TV screen. It is like pornography.

Another possible reason, the Govt knows what is good for the people and that a 24 hr PSI is good for the people. Be thankful, be very grateful.

They don't want to tell you the present PSI because it will cause all the outdoor activities to stop if the PSI is no good. This will affect the economic, the GDP and their bonuses.

Furthermore your health problems due to bad PSI can only be happened after 5 to 10 years later so not their problem already.

This type of government must be voted out because they are not taking care of their people but only on their bonuses.

Aiyah, redbean please lah. 24 hr and 3 hr data points are good enough.

If you're really that kiasu, you can buy portable, even handheld air monitoring equipment. About $500, you'll get quite a good unit. That's less than what most people pay for their regularly-changing cell phone(s).

Well,
the Yearly Emolument of a minister at 1.5 million Sin Dollars works out to be about 150 thousand workers total annual pay if they are paid a total of $10,000 each a year.
Imagine the average pay if 20 ministers' pays are added to 500,000 workers' pays of $10ks each per year. All the workers will appear to be paid tons of $ as well.
That is the NONSENSE we are getting from our Leaders.

Or you can spend 5seconds doing a mental calculation to get the hourly Psi from the 3 hourly Psi published by NEA every hour.. On that subject, the Psi is itself an "outdated" index that probably underestimates air pollution; personally I would go for the PM2.5 AQI.

Hahaha

What does the PAP means when they say 'taking care of the people'?

Taking care can mean, well literally taking care, or on a more pessimistic note, fixing the people as in fixing the opposition.

Distorting the news can be one way of fixing, and so does denying information. Take your pick!

'why'

- They only want to tell you the stuff that they can easily come out with a solution. They will not want to tell you stuff to make themselves look like a million dollar paid complete idiot.
