Singapore going down under

Singapore is so desperate for space and land. Every inch of the island is already built up or designated for something. There is no more land for anything. And Singapore is scrambling for more space by reclamation from the sea. There is not much sea left to reclaim. We are just so small, a red dot. No, we can bring in more people, 10m no problem? The problem is that wherever and whenever a piece of land is created, it would be taken up quickly and nothing is left.

The new and desperate measure is digging underground. I am wondering which is more expensive, reclamation from the sea or digging into the ground? I am not sure which is more risky or dangerous to live in, highrise on reclaimed land or living inside the bedrock. Have faith in the engineers and architects doing their wonder acts to make sure these newly created space are safe to live in, no cave in, no flooding, 100% sure. For a mistake of such a nature it is unpardonable when thousands of lives are inside them.

And again, as soon as a hole is dug, or even before it is dug, it has already been assigned to some uses. And you hear people kpkb for more land. There is a grave shortage of usable land. And you have people crying we are going to bring in more people and more people. What the hell for? We are running out of land and there are people planning to bring in another few millions of foreigners to take up all the scarce land and space left.

It seems that this one trick pony has only one trick in their mind. Bring in more people, foreigners. Or is it their mission in life, to bring in more and more foreigners here? Or are they testing how many people can be squeezed into this piece of rock? And are they testing how fragile is the rock we are sitting on, when will it break apart from the bottom and bring down everything above it?

Do we owe the world to provide jobs and accommodation to their citizens that we have to work so hard, make space for them to squeeze with us until we are not able or cannot afford to build roads so that we can own and drive cars around, so that we have a little more breathing space? And we have to con the daft Sinkies that no car is good and public transport is better?

Seow! Yes, the psychiatrists would have many sickness related to such megalomaniac aspirations. Send them to the psychiatrists please.

Sin City's mission is to bring the population of the whole world to live in the island continent.

Redbean is not Liu Thai Ker, much less a chief city planner.
Liu says Sin can accommodate 10 million people. When he says it, he may not have included underground and underwater buildings yet.

Someone quick tell Liu Thai Ker. He can now revised his numbers to 20 million.

Aiya, PAP govt, and with adviser like Liu Thai Ker, knows better than RB lah.

Or else RB could have become PM, and not PM (Personnel Manager) which he once was, or at least a trained architect, tio bo? Or as a Sinkie towkay who can and wants to employ foreign talents lah to make money lah.

But RB is none of these, tio bo? Just a kpkb commission no enough remisier, wild life enthusiast who visit Sungei Buloh and blogger only what. Not even as an opposition candidate contesting an election.

So why would PAP want to hiew (bother) RB or his views, u tell me lah?

Even opposition veteran Aung Juan Soon Chee,, and with stints in jail some more, PAP (Keechiu) also see no up, so what more RB.

@ he's full of fallacies today, RB:

>> we can bring in more people, 10m no problem? <<

Of course there are "problems". Any increase in population larger than what the land can sustain naturally comes with problems. If the problems are "solved" or "managed" however, then voila, you have a MODERN civilization.

>> or living inside the bedrock. <<

Actually alot of the land is SOFT---sand, mud, sedimentary rock. Which is why you see that foundations for buildings have to go deep.

>> Do we owe the world to provide jobs and accommodation to their citizens that we have to work so hard, make space for them to squeeze with us until we are not able or cannot afford to build roads so that we can own and drive cars around, so that we have a little more breathing space? <<

No one "owes" anyone anything. There are many reasons to allow the population of Singapore to grow. Economy. Diversity. Plurality. Large genetic pool. No one does you "favours" if one immigrates to Singapore. You have to compete. You have to create value. It is a MERITOCRACY, so you had better come with your game-face on and be able to "bring it", or you won't survive.

In Singapore, "you die, your business" is understood by everyone, and probably universally disliked. If you don't accept this, then fucking LEAVE, or die the fuck out, because this is the "Singapore way"---it is a CULTURE which keeps people on their toes and PRODUCTIVE.

>> Seow! <<

Without insanity, progress is not possible.

Anyway, Singapore is one HUGE social experiment, which uses REAL HUMANS for testing and experimentation. And of course, some parts of the big experiment fail from time to time, which is to be accepted. for e.g. the good old "family planning" of "Please stop a two". Back then, the govt was worried about over population. Funny right?

You have to admire the PAP's social engineering lah. Ya, I get it, some people consider it "evil" and "intrusive", and could also be a form of modern serfdom. Some of the more expressive "arty-farty" types will even say "slavery". Shocking right? But if you could just put that all aside....gotta admit, this massive social engineering "project"....pretty darn AWESOME!

Is Liu Thai Ker another old fart?
Do you think PAP keeps digging up more and more old farts to support their policies?
What about Lim Kay Tong?
Is he also another old fart?

There you go again Redbean, you and your one track mind. Population growth is absolutely essential for the economy of Singapore. Whether this population growth is from childbirth or imported talents it does not matter. Singapore needs 10 million at least to maintain growth and therefore Singaporeans can enjoy the high quality living we are so accustomed to. Ido not know why you are so against this growth in population, maybe it is your lack of confidence to compete with FTs? Your views agaist FTs has been well documented. You have written many articles on this subject. Why don't you stand back and view the sitution from the other side. PAP has been very good at managing Singapore. If you have any other views on how things should be done, why don't you stand for election as an independent candidate or join the opposition and contest. Writing your blog and KPKB all th time gets you nowhere, and a total waste of time for all readers. Give this topic a rest PLEASE.

Anon 7:43, please give yourself a break and don't allow RB to make your life so miserable. You are not stupid to come here to get pissed off by RB right? Or you are those from the IMH? The hokien word for asses like you is 'ter, ter, ter'.

If you are so ter and cannot understand, it means silly.

Redbean does not have to compete with these aliens for survival.

He is doing this for your generations not to be pariah to these trashes who will swallow you fools into oblivion.

Ten million rats killing each other in this tiny red dot.

You better seek help in IMH. Singapore's survival?

DEMISE A BETTER WORD

@ IMH patient @ May 28, 2015 7:43 p.m.

1. "Population growth is absolutely essential for the economy of Singapore."
- You graduated from the Mumbai University School of Economics is it?

2. "Singapore needs 10 million ..."
- Which PAP fairy tale do you get this number from?

3. "Singaporeans can enjoy the high quality living we are so accustomed to ..."
- Singaporeans or PAP politicians?

4. "PAP has been very good at managing Singapore."
- ROFL. When you were first admitted to IMH 30 years ago, PAP was very good at managing Singapore.
- Maybe you don't have enough time to update yourself since your recent discharge

5. "Writing your blog and KPKB all th time gets you nowhere,"
- I agree
- so fuck off already since redbean is getting nowhere with his blog
