Planktons struck- fish farmers needing help

Noven Chew and a member of the Nylon String, the organiser of the Charity event
Bachata Rosa's dancers

Last Thursday the ST put up another article on the plight of fish farmers struck by killer planktons in the Straits of Johore. A few hundred tons of fish for the table were wiped out in a matter of days and the poor farmers saw their hard work went belly up. Their harvests were gone, each losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, putting their livelihood at stake. It was a big blow to the industry and to the fish farmers with limited resources. They needed all the financial assistance to replenish their fish stocks and to go about without income for months.

The AVA has stepped in to provide technical assistance and some financial help to give the fish farmers a new start, new fish stocks and fries, technology and equipment to protect against new plankton proliferations in the water and threatening the fish stocks.

Private individuals have also step forward to give a helping hand to the fish farmers. Noven Chew, a single mum, lost almost everything and her friends rounded up their friends to get her farm back to shape. A group calling themselves ‘Nylon String Men’, the organizer, worked with Victor, the owner of Hooha Pub/Café in Pasir Panjang to raise fund for Noven two weekends ago. Local singers and dancers answered the call to perform for a charity night at Hooha.

Bachata Rosa, a single mum helping another single mum, also did her part, contributing  two dance items for the night with 4 dancers from 4 different age group.

It is heartening to see fellow citizens standing to help fellow citizens in difficult times. Many thanks to the Nylon String Men, Victor and Bachata Rosa for their public spiritedness and generosities. Govt bodies can help, the people too can do their parts and lend a helping hand when fellow citizens are in need.

Alamak. Missed it. I've staggered out of Hooha @ P. Panjang ( a rocking awesome joint) more times than I can remember, even fell asleep outside a few times.

Where are the futures people from the world's supposedly greatest financial sector? How come got no fish futures to protect the farmers from "Black Swan" events like this?

I thought Singapore supposed to be world's ass-kicker for finance, so fuckers in finance, stop bitching about HFT, and start doing something useful lah.

Well done, to the community of Hooha party animals! 🍻🍻

Singaporeans are yesterday news.
Nobody is interested in helping Singaporeans.
Even Singaporeans (60%) don't want to help Singaporeans.
Let's spend our taxpayers' money helping Aliens replace Singaporeans instead.
We can't have a "smart nation" with too many daft Singaporeans getting in the way of "smart" Aliens.

But how many percent of Sinkie voters and their families are fish farmers?

If I were PM lee, I will always ask this question before giving how much help, or if any help at all.

Only some will get "help" and deserve it, because they've earned the respect. (Yes, you must earn respect).

The ones who don't get "helped" are the hao lian self-righteous neurotics who refuse to help themselves and instead think that organising a gabfest at Hong Lim Park will actually force the 60% to change.

Dream on , motherfucker 😂😂😂

Anyway, lucky got plenty of CHEAP imported fish in Fairprice like basa/ panga from the polluted waters of Vietnam, as well as the SHIT EATING Tilapia fish (yes, they eat shit) ---which is the fish you eat at food courts and outlets anyway. ;-)

You might think that eating out your girfriends' cheebyes is the same as including fish in your healthy diet. Not true. Just because it smells of fish, doesn't make it tuna! :-)

My ah Kong plant vege n rear fish for a living but never heard fishes can die .Only suffer when
kena resettled with no more farm to earn a living but never seek any assistance.

Dun understand why others life so lucky nowadays can enjoy financial assistance from AVA.

Do not learn a wrong lesson thinking every day is a sunday.
Learn a lesson here on how to prevent such risk and not think help is always around when we need it.

What about MRT business in Singapore?
Is it a "sure earn" business in Singapore?
Not enough money to buy more buses and hire more bus drivers, PAP government got give grant or not?
Not enough money to pay dividends, PAP government got allow SMRT to increase bus fares or not?
So you tell me lah.
"Sure earn" business or not?
Or is it PAP-style meritocracy?
Or is it something else?

Another "sure earn" business ???
- getting Temasek to become a long term investor in your company's shares
- like ABC Learning in Australia

Is this a "sure earn" business or not?

Aiya, that's old news lah. It happened in 2008 or earlier.

And despite that, didn't PAP went on to win 60% votes and 93% seats in GE 2011?

This is a bad sign. Singapore is represented by a Merlion, ie. a fish with lion head.

If fishes in waters surrounding Singapore are dying sudden death, that means Singapore or Singaporeans would one day die like that. Extinction!

Remember the Merlion got struck by lightning a few years back?

That was the Omen to tell Singapore that the Head of Singapore would be done for by Lightning.

Funny things happen nowadays. Fish dying of planktons. Chickens and birds dying of flu. Cows dying of some other funny disease. Humans will soon be dying of kpkb disease.

Such things do not happen in the old days. What is happening to this world?

Wrong.
That was the omen to predict Singapore will be destroyed by Lightning.

PAP logo is symbolized by Lightning.

So, that means PAP will destroy Singapore, right?
