More power to the President on racial harmony

Another big debate in futility over a new Act to grant the President more power to overrule the Parliament. It is passed as expected with 7 opposition votes against it and the PAP machine supporting it. So, is the President's power to overrule Parliament absolute and final? Or could a 2/3 majority vote in Parliament overrule the one man President vote? Is too much power being given to just one man?

The above CNA quote raised a point about a President overruling the Parliament and risking allowing an organisation or individual going free when they are under the influence of hostile foreign actor or govt. Sounds fair. Organisations and individuals can easily come under the influence of foreign forces for many reasons, especially pressure from the evil American Empire

What about the President? He is also a human bean, and only one man. It is easier to influence one man than the whole Parliament. What happens if the President is under hostile foreign influence? The President is not God and would be subject to the same weaknesses of human beans. Is this Act being too presumptuous that the President is infallible, a living God sitting in the Istana?

What do you think? Why is there a need to introduce such an act now? Parliament cannot be trusted to do the right thing? The man or woman in the Istana called President changes when his or her term is up, and a new person would be placed there. There is no guarantee that the President would always be as wise and just as God, would not be compromised or come under the influence of hostile or friendly foreign powers.

AngloSaxon terrorists continue to terrorist the UN and the Arab world

 The UN was supposed to be created to bring the world closer together to avoid wars and conflicts. Yet the UN had been used by the USA to bring innocent countries to fight an illegal war in Iraq, all based on fabricated evidence. It was a crime against humanity, and the UN, ICJ and ICC failed to bring mankind any semblance of justice by letting the perpetrators off without even a slap on the wrist.

We are again seeing the UN losing more of its credibility in the Middle East, with Israel practically dictating terms to the UN at will. And who are the countries giving Israel all that arrogance to do what it likes? The Anglo-Saxon White countries spearheaded by the USA of course.

In all the wars that Israel fought, it had been the USA and the West providing all the help to Israel, even taking an active role in those wars. The six day war in 1967 was termed the Arab - Israeli War on the surface, the shortest war and won by Israel. It was a war fought between the Arabs coalition and Israel. However, what has not be admitted was the fact that the USA, UK and France had supplied intelligence, military advice and pilots to conduct bombings against the Arab States on top of all the military equipment provided to the Israelis. Calling it just an Arab - Israeli War is misleading, just like touting the war now in Western Europe between Ukraine and Russia as just between these two countries.

Besides the UN, what has the ICJ or ICC done about the illegal Iraq War? They let the perpetrators off, succumbing to violent threats, yet having the audacity to crucify Putin over the Ukraine War. Are they worthy of their name, or respect being accorded to them, in the hope that they could do an honest, unbiased, fair and transparent job?

Durov’s comments come in the wake of the success of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, which has developed an open-source reasoning model without access to cutting-edge US chips and at a fraction of the cost. He cautioned that unless the US education system undergoes significant reforms to encourage competition and recognize excellence, China’s growing dominance in technology appears inevitable.

No reason why Chinese should not be happy today

 The Chinese in China are more patriotic than ever before, besides being happier than many of those countries in the West. Yes, China was deeply divided during the last century and a half, with foreign powers fighting for control of China and civil wars between the Communist and Nationalist that caused much suffering to the Chinese people.

Earlier than that, from 1839 opium war onwards, was the century of humiliation at the hands of the Eight Nations starting from 1900. In 1949, after the defeat of the Nationalist, the Communist took over China and although rebuilding was fraught with failures, the opening up of China under Deng Xiaoping was instrumental in China's rapid progress and development.

Why shouldn't the Chinese be happy, knowing that before this it was all bleak and gloom economically, but now having all that they never dreamed of just thirty years ago, the new-found improved living standard was a huge dream fulfilled.

BRICS would soon have its own ranking for universities

 The people compiling the World University Rankings have now realized that there is a wealth of cutting-edge innovations being written about by Chinese Scientists and research departments of Chinese Universities like Beijing and Tsinghua that cannot be ignored anymore.

How did they suddenly have a change of mind about including them, when in the past they just basically ignored such research papers all written in Chinese, which few analysts care to read and consider. It was only when they began to notice the innovations going on under their noses, like EV and battery technology, high-speed rail construction, space exploration success, jet engine development, shipbuilding, dam construction expertise that they started to realize that they missed out perusing a lot of important research papers written in Chinese but having important criteria that needs to be considered when ranking top universities around the world.

In Science and Technolgy, it can be considered that China ranks among the top globally, just looking at the patents filed, but the biased against Chinese research papers written purely in Chinese have made the past University rankings obsolete and I would say, nonsensical.

Having said that, I still believe there is a deep-seated biased against anything outside the Anglo-Saxon circle, and I would not expect much will change in terms of the rankings. How could Chinese universities upset the status quo of Western universities, from a Socialist country ruled by a dictator. The same way that Chinese people are denied their place at the top of the Happiness Index.

Oh my God, as in the Happiness Index they may even remove all the Chinese Universities in the rankings list going forward if these Chinese Universities really rise to the very top under a more truthful criterion.
