Indonesia executed 8 of 9 traffickers

It is never a good thing or right thing to say execution is good and necessary. Every bleeding heart apologists would cry father and cry mother when someone is in the death row pleading for mercy. What to do, why people end up in the death row for drug trafficking and then everyone, including presidents and prime ministers have to beg on their behalf and wanted to punch one another because the traffickers’ lives were not spared.

Now that the 8 had been executed, can the leaders of the world make a stand, to make sure that no one would be in the death row for drug trafficking? Can all the leaders make it known to all the potential drug traffickers that they must not be drug traffickers and that if they are caught, no one will be pleading for them. Would such a stand work, letting the traffickers know that they are on their own, that they know what they are doing with eyes wide open, and that they must stop what they are doing now or going to do next?

Can all the bleeding heart merciful souls go and plead to all the potential traffickers NOW, to tell them not to do it as they will meet with certain death? Would this be a better way, a preventive way, than to cry father and cry mother after the traffickers were caught? Then no prime ministers or presidents would have to do the silly thing, to plead like pathetic fathers and mothers for the lives of their miserable sons and daughters? This is the time to plead to the traffickers and their dear families, the ageing and dying mothers, the pathetic wives and children, not to do it instead of after they have done it and got caught.

Please, all the good hearted people and world leaders, please do your part to tell those drug traffickers to stop before it is too late. To stop now can or not?

Of course an easier way is to abolish death penalties and let the drug traffickers feel free to do what they want. Which is better?

Amos Yee – Rebel with a Cause

Amos Yee accused Vincent Law, his kind bailer, of molest. Ooooooh, how could this ingrate do such a thing? Condemn, condemn. He is insane, hopeless. He deserves no pity or kindness from anyone.

Hold your horses man, stop being so judgemental with every bit of news or rumours or hearsays. You are supposed to be a mature and thinking adult, isn’t it? Does anyone think that it is better to hear the full story before jumping to conclusion? Vincent Law ‘molests’ Amos Yee, so claimed the kid.  Now I have put the word ‘molest’ in inverted commas. This is like someone saying ‘I screwed him’ or ‘I fired him’ when the meaning of screw and fire did not take on the literal meaning of the words.

Amos promised to reply on his accusation of ‘molest’ by Vincent Law. This is the first few paras of his pretty long and intellectual discourse. If one is not mentally up to it, please give it a miss. It is not meant for people with IQs of two digits. : )

The Molestation Of Vincent Law

I should issue a sincere apology to Vincent Law? Hahahahaha.
It once again is alarmingly indicative of the inherent stupidity of our species to immediately formulate a stance, with a complete lack of evidence, and say it with such conviction. That is of course the mindset inherent in that of religion. I’m still really skeptical of my Christian fans by the way, you’re supposed to damn me (Mark 3:29) yet you hold me a vigil.
Now the preconceived notion portrayed on the media towards Vincent is simply that he put himself in the line of fire, he assisted me by putting up $20000, and allowed a rebellious 17-year-old boy to be able to come out of prison, and attain his freedom. He is a generous, kind-hearted Christian, caring and with lots of love.

So now, when I made allegations that he molested me, people would then start blaming me. This person helped you Amos, he risked his reputation and his own money for you, and yet you accuse him of molestation….

Now you got the gist of it. So, before any ‘mature’ and ‘thinking’ adult starts to think and act silly, please read Amos piece in full at   https://amosyee.wordpress.com/2015/05/15/the-molestation-of-vincent-law/
before jumping to conclusions and look silly again. You be the judge after reading what Amos has written.

Amos is a refreshing voice in a time when hypocrisy rules the day. This 16 going 17 kid is a genius in his own right, love him or hate him, up to you.  He is no ordinary kid and would put many adults who are so full of themselves looking like children in his presence.  Amos is shredding everything that appears right, looks right, to pieces and making many people not only red in their faces but dunno where to hide their faces.

Amen. May the force be with Amos.

Amos Yee – When kindness died

We have seen the episode of how a boy was persecuted by a lynch mob of adults like they were out hunting for a witch. A lot have been said about this case and I will make it short and sharp.  You want to read more, go to TRE and read what Vincent Wijeysingha wrote.

What happened was that a child and his offensive rant and his dirty cartoon in the net were seen as a devious and intolerable act. And next, adults, presumably mature and wisdom and full of themselves in righteousness, went berserk and braying for the blood of this boy. Hey, he is only 16! The merciless pursuit of this kid, even being beaten by another asshole man in front of the court, claiming he wanted maximum publicity to teach the boy a lesson, was cheered by some quarters of adults.

It was the shameless adults that thought flogging a child in public was a decent thing to do. Where is kindness? We got a kindness movement going on. What did the movement said or not allowed to say?

Kindness is dead in this pretentious city state of graciousness when basic human decency towards a wayward child was thrown into the longkangs. There was not a word of kindness and compassion towards the child from the right places. The sadistic circus was allowed to run its full course.

Would anyone feel ashamed of the whole thing? Obviously not. They are so unforgiving even to a child.

Amen.

The rise of China

In a short span of 65 years after the Chinese Communist Party fought their way to retake control of a disintegrated and bankrupt China, a victim of mismanagement and foreign aggression and looting, China is today the second largest economy in the world and on the verge of overtaking the USA. Militarily it is no longer a push over. A nation of hapless and impoverished humanity, China is boasting of billionaires and millionaires, the most lucrative market for luxury goods, cars, jewelry, paintings, arts etc etc. There is now a China Dream instead in the likes of the American Dream for the young Chinese and even westerners.

China has arrived at the world stage as a new economic and military powerhouse, without firing a single shot. China achieved and attained its wealth, amidst great obstacles, through peaceful and economic means. Compare this to the western powers, their wealth was built on conquest and butchery. The came, they saw, they conquered, was the right thing to do then, and glorified by the colonialists and imperialists that ignored the rights of the natives to live and to be owners of their land.

Today the West and some silly Southeast Asians are accusing China of being an aggressive country, expansionist and bullying the smaller countries just because China is staking its claims to the uninhabited islands in the South China Seas and building infrastructures for human activities. The Chinese claims to these islands have much more legitimacy than the British claim to Singapore, to Malaysia and all the colonized countries. The most hypocritical are the Americans, seizing the continent of North America from the natives and committing the world’s biggest genocide to ensure that the natives were decimated to extinction and have no chance to make any meaningful claim for the return of their land.

Japan, still claiming islands of conquest that belonged to China, Korea and Russia, are in the thick of things. With the recent visit to Washington, Japan could have sealed the right to conduct wars of conquest in partnership with the Americans. The Abe Administration is bragging about its new rights to shoot down missiles, to fight alongside the Americans and other American allies in war. And both the Japanese and the Americans are shouting at the top of their voice that they are for peace and wanting to maintain peace while the Japanese are tearing away their constitution forbidding them to engage in wars of aggression. The Americans have moved their war machine and arsenal to the western Pacific region while Japan is continuing on its military expansion and adventurism with the consent of the Americans.

China may not have fired a single bullet to become an economic power that the Japanese fought so hard by invading the countries of Asia and failed. Japan also acquired its post war wealth without having to go to war. The Americans lost half of its wealth by continuing to conduct wars all over the world.

The new reality, China might have to go to war with the Americans and the Japanese to protect its country and wealth from them. The latter two are arming themselves and signing military alliances with their allies in preparation for a war of aggression against China in the name of peace.

Countries that gained wealth from the barrel of the guns cannot forget or think it is possible to gain economic wealth peacefully. They will resort to the use of gun and military power to achieve what they wanted by provoking and starting wars, this time against China. To prevent a war of aggression from the Americans, the Japanese and their allies, China must be militarily prepared to mete this brute force with force.

There is no need for China to want to conduct war when it is able to achieve all the economic growth it needs to bring a better life to its people. Only the ex colonialists and imperialists are still conniving and scheming to do what they know best, to conduct wars of aggression.

The Americans and Japanese are for peace? Check your head. Who needs a war? Does China need a war? Who is pointing a gun at everyone?

Degrees, degrees and fake degrees

The job of HR a few decades ago was pretty straight forward when vetting through the qualifications and CVs of a job applicant. In that piece of paper that the applicant submitted, you could practically verify everything with a few phone calls. But most of the time it was unnecessary as very few would dare to submit fake resumes for fear of the law and being discovered. It was so easy to find out the truth. The schools, the universities, the teachers, the references could be know to the HR or could easily be traced. After a simple process of verification of the certificates, an applicant could be hired based on what he has submitted.

When the door was thrown wide open to the world, in comes a deluge of snakes, scorpions, crocodiles and worms and the HR has a problem they never knew before. Was the govt, the HR and the system prepared and ready to face the world of fakes and cheats or compromised half baked education systems and degree mills?

The problem has exploded right in our face. In fact it exploded the moment the foreigners came in but everyone was in a state of denial. How to check on the quality of the education systems, the universities, schools, the grades when everyone appears to come from another planet and sounded like one? It was so easy to think that their systems are just as rigid and proper as ours, their standards were just as high as ours, their gradings as stringent as ours. Of course now we know a degree is not just a degree, an university is not just an university and a referee, testimonial, can all be faked or bought.

Now we are setting up agencies with foreigners to check on foreigners who knew how to buy their way out and would have not problem buying the checkers out. Did we foresee the problems then, before opening our doors? With the exposure of more and more fakes, the disease is deep inside us, seeped into every little nooks and corners of our systems like bed bugs, ringworms, tape worms, viruses and bacteria, everywhere.

Can we afford to live with them or is there a need to flush them out? The easy way of is to pretend all is fine. Where got problem? Prove to me lah, show me proof lah. If you can’t then don’t anyhow say. See, no problems right?

Oh, HR, please ask the applicants which degree or job references should be ignored, not to count, just for décor purposes in the CVs and which are genuine and to be counted. See, so easy to solve. QED. Just pretend or believe everyone is a talent will do. Or nevermind, just hire them and see if they can work. If can work good oredy. No need to bother about the degrees and testimonials and whether they are real or unreal.

PS. How to verify testimonials and recommendations from so and so of good work performance? Anyone wants to rely on such craps from crappy countries renowned for fakes and cheating?

Philippines want to build naval facilities in contested Spratley Islands

The Philippines govt has big plans to build a naval base in the Spratley Islands to challenge China’s claim in the South China Sea. The initial cost is $23.8m and another $200m for a full scale naval base. The plans are there but stalled for lack of funds. I would suggest they come to Singapore, look for a Singaporean to sell his good class bungalow and there will be enough money for the initial phase with money to spare. Or they could call on the Pinoy community here to make a donation and they could even have enough money to build the full scale naval base.

To be realistic, money is not everything. They would need the right equipment, the skilled manpower and the expertise to reclaim islands and building infrastructure. The best solution is for the Philippines to pay a courtesy call to Xi Jinping in Beijing. China would have everything the Philippines need, from cheap financing, skilled labour, engineering expertise and equipment to do the job in double quick time.

The Chinese could offer the Pinoys a comprehensive package and throw in some goodie bags as well. Be nice to the Chinese and everything would be done for them for a song.

Maybe the Americans could set up a military base on behalf of its colony in the island. The Americans would be most willing to gain a military foothold in the South China Sea to cause mischief. Ya, they could build their base in the Mischief Reef, for free. The Philippines govt need not pay a single cent. Just invite the Empire to be the masters again.

Singapore ranks top in education ranking

Singapore students score top marks in science and mathematics in a survey among 76 countries conducted by the OECD. The survey was on 15 year olds in Mathematics and for 14 year olds in Science in the Programme for International Students Assessment. Hong Kong was second, South Korea third, Japan and Taiwan joint fourth. The next 6th to 10th rankings were from Europe. The rest of the 3rd ‘World Asian countries were ranked far far away.

What does this survey say? Singapore students were the best at age 14 and 15. And this is not the first time the survey was conducted. The results of past years have been consistent. The strange thing is that Singapore students were found quite useless in later years and totally hopeless and unemployable. And Singapore is so desperate that there is no talents in Singapore, wondering what happened to the bright 14 and 15 year olds, that Singapore needs to import huge numbers of foreigners from the unranked 3rd World countries to help it to grow, and to provide jobs for the useless Singaporeans. Without the foreigners, Singapore will sink, perish from this world.

Can you believe that? Is that true, that top students at age 14 and 15 disappeared into thin air or became duds as they grew up? If not Singapore would be flooded with our own top talents in many fields. What could be the possible explanations for this queer phenomenon?

One explanation is that the survey is inaccurate and unreliable as the correlation did not make sense. Two, Singaporeans are born with a defective gene that self destruct and all Singaporeans will become stupid or daft as they grow older, ie after year 15.

A third possible explanation is that the young of the 3rd World continue to make rapid progress to leapfrog over Singaporeans in intelligence and ended up as the desirable foreign talents to replace the daft Singaporeans. Can this be it? Must be it.

A fourth and likely explanation is that somehow the 3rd World graduates have scintillating qualifications and job experience that are better than Singaporeans in all aspects, including street smartness, skills sets, bluffology etc etc that make them so impressive and so desirable as employees, including ability to do wonders. Actually everyone knows by now how easy it is to get all the top grades and top degrees, and CVs and job experience without having to work for it. They could just buy them from the shelf. Or the institutions would sell them directly for a fee. I think this is the likely cause.

Now, how can Singaporeans then do better than these 3rd World talents? My recommendation is that if you can’t beat them in cheating just join them in their game. With the talents of our students, I am pretty confident that if we want to cheat, allow them to cheat, they would be able to cheat betterer, with distinctions. But you need to have the authority on their side and not on the side of the foreign cheats. This is very important for daft Singaporeans to be successful, to be employable.

What do you think? Our young are top talents but never live past 15 years old? Who is cheating our young talents?

Amos Yee’s cartoon – A survey

‘The judge pointed out that the defence itself had acknowledged that such an image could encourage young people towards sexual experimentation.’ I quoted this from the ST.

I am thinking of conducting a survey on how the cartoon has actually affected the young and lead them to ‘sexual experimentation’. I heard more than a million people have viewed Amos video and if half are the young, it means half a million young people would have been exposed to this temptation.

I can expect some young and old reading Kamasutra or Kamasutra the movie would be tempted to indulge in some sexual experimentation by the vivid pictorial acts in the book/movie. How many would really be excited by the Amos Yee cartoon to really want to have a go at it? Was it really that sexually powderful?

Anyone got any idea? Anyone has actually done it after viewing the video, please kee chiu. I would like to take down the numbers to see how temptuous is that cartoon and how suggestive it has been to the young. Would be interesting to know, and the PR and advertising folks would learn something from it to work out their next project.

PS. I am very sure there are people who have not seen anything so ‘explicit’ before in their closet livestyle and would have gone bonkers and sexually berserk. And there will be people who would say ‘you mean that is suggestive’ Yawn?

Coward of the neighbourhood

This guy thought he was the village chief of the neighbourhood. He could not stand a little noise by children playing in the corridor, especially the boy downstair. Whenever he heard the boy playing he got irritated. How could children behave so unruly in the corridor and disturbing everyone?

He shared his unhappiness with his neighbours and they egged him on. They agreed that he should deal with the boy. So this ‘village chief’ guy, or thinking he was the village chief got more garang. Then he went snooping on the boy’s routine. He also knew that the boy’s father was bigger size than him. He got to be careful of the boy’s father.

He waited for an opportunity to strike when the boy was alone. And one day the chance came. As the boy was coming out of the lift alone, this village chief walked towards him, whistling as if nothing was wrong. Just as the boy was passing him, he launched a sneak attack at the boy, slapping him. And then he ran for his life, got back to his flat, locked the gate and then taunted the boy in the safety of his flat, come and get me lah. Imagine he ran away from the boy he slapped! What a shame! Luckily he did not wet his pants in fear of the boy.

The boy was stunted for a moment. How could a big man suddenly sneak behind him and slapped him without warning? It was a very shameful act. The case was reported to the police.

When the police called on the village chief, he explained that he wanted to teach the boy a lesson. He meant no harm. The police found his explanation silly. If he was acting as a village chief, an adult, and wanting to discipline a boy, other than telling the boy’s father, he should have told the boy straight in the face. And if the boy was rude and he could not control his anger, might slap the boy like an adult. His sneaky attack and running away as if in fear of the boy hitting back was pure cowardice and did not make sense. He was behaving like a little rascal.

Anyway the police hauled him up and charged him for assault. And he walked into jail lan lan, with everyone calling him a stupid coward of the neighbourhood. Pity his wife and children to have such a stupid and coward man as a husband and father.

Was he a village chief, or a deluded asshole? One word of advice, look at the mirror first. An asshole is always an asshole. A coward is always a coward.

The Western model of might is right in the South China Sea

The Americans have been blastering the Chinese for claiming the islands in the South China Seas and encouraging the pesky little countries to do so promising to back them from behind. These islands were terra nullius when the Chinese claimed them. They were no man’s islands.

Under the old rules it was finders keepers just like all the natives of the world claiming to be the original people of the land. This rule was changed when the Europeans set out to conquer the rest of the world. They made new rules to conquer and seize countries that were already occupied with their own natives.

The Europeans that went to North America and Canada simply killed the natives and took over their land. Who cares if there were natives in the land. When they came to Southeast Asia, they claimed to have found Singapore, Penang, Batavia etc ignoring the presence of inhabitants in the island. Then they put a gun to the heads of the tribal chiefs demanding that they signed away their land so that they could be protected by the empires. They did the same to the Maoris in New Zealand. In Australia it was easier, just chased the aborigines into the outback and occupied whatever land they want. Australia was terra nullius. The aborigines were not human and did not count.

Now they are crying father and mother that China is claiming no man’s land as wrongful and instigating other countries to claim these islands as the right thing to do. Is this another aspect of American exceptionalism as well? The Empire will decide what is right and what is wrong. The only rule the Empire lives by is the rule it sets for itself and to be obeyed by other countries?

Now the Empire is thinking of claiming of a few pieces of the islands as well and is planning to bring in the troops like they did before in North America. China cannot avoid a war with the Americans that believe in might is right. The Americans would push for a war in the South China Sea, like it or not. It is a friendly and peaceful nation that is all out to start wars everywhere. Believe the Americans are peace loving people at your own risk.

Amos Yee’s grandmother disappointed

It was reported in the Today paper that Amos Yee’s grandmother was unhappy with his anti social behavior for spending too much time on the net. Wondering why the grandmother is now also in the picture. Would the reporters be interviewing his teacher in the kindergarten or his childhood friends to want to know how bad Amos Yee was as a child?

And everyone has an opinion on this boy, including religious leaders, supposedly intelligent and wise people. I have my reservation of these adults who think very highly of themselves and think they know more, betterer and wiser than Amos the kid.
Today information and knowledge are at one’s finger tips. And the children today are exposed to the libraries of the whole world and more. What a child could read, if he is interested, is unimaginable. And the knowledge they acquired could be many many times what an adult believed he knows for his 10 or 20 years in school. There is no comparison.

And in terms of morality, rights and wrongs, religious beliefs, who is wiser? Many religious leaders are just half past six themselves and their intellectual level may be far inferior to a bright child like Amos. And given the haziness and questionable religious beliefs, the subjectivity of rights and wrongs, good and bad, and moral righteousness, age is no criteria. A wise person is not necessary an older person, the parents or grandparents. You cannot measure them until they open their mouth to reveal their foolishness and ignorance.

The adults must not presume that they know best. The kids must be allowed to explore and learn as much as they could. Unless of course the adult is as wise as gods, and knows more than the child.

How many adults think so please kee chiu. I can only say this, don’t be too presumptious to think you know best or your right is right. How many people have the wisdom of the sages to be in a position to pass judgement on a kid? This kid Amos is a rough diamond and if polished by the able hands of wise men, could turn out to be a genius in the future. It is highly irresponsible for any adult to condemn this child for a little indiscretion at his age. The way the lynch mob went after him speaks for itself, about the emptiness in their heads. Thinking adults should not be so judgemental over a single incident like this and want to condemn and ruin the lives of this child. Ask yourself, are you fit to judge this child? Are you up to it?

There will be the prudes that would throw sludge at Amos, but there will be the kind souls that would offer him flowers and wanting him to grow up well. This is how controversial the incident has become. The world is not black and white but a long stretch of greys. And worst, white may be black and black is white.

America, you have it!

The Federal Court of the USA has thrown out the craps of protecting the country and allowing the intelligence agencies and the White House to cheat on the American people and to enforce draconian laws to imprison the American people. The Patriots Act, the secrecy acts of all kinds that the Bush Administration passed to check, monitor and spy on every American citizen has been challenged by the independent judiciary.

The courts cited Edward Snowden’s act as a revelation of the abuses of power by the President and his administration, hiding under the cry of patriotism, national security, veil of secrecy and using the intelligence services to infringe the rights of privacy of its citizens, to threaten its citizens with the weight of the law to keep them under surveillance and in compliance.

The comprehensive surveillance power of the intelligence agencies have overstepped their roles and their privileged status and have become the enemy of the people instead of protecting the people. When state agencies abused their power against the citizens of the state, they must be checked. It is lucky and fortuitous that the American legal system is above the politicians, cannot be manipulated and abused by the politicians to do the becks and calls of the politicians against the people.

There is law in America. There is justice for the people against the terrorism of the state and its insidious perpetrators that used the state machinery to victimize the people like Edward Snowden and the general public. State terrorism against the people would not be accepted and allowed to be practiced freely under the guise of national security and secrecy.

The American judicial system and the separation of power of the state is a shining beacon to the corrupt world, to uphold justice and to protect the citizens from the tyranny of the state, from being bullied by the state and their enforcement officers, the police, the intelligence services and the courts of law.

What is Power Logic?

Everyone is familiar with the meaning of logic as well as the term power. Logic on its own is logic but there are false logic, contrived logic, fake logic, and of course Power Logic. Simply put, power logic has two parts, power and logic. Power comes first. With power, the logic stands. Minus the power, the logic is as good as hogwash. Now you get the picture.

Power Logic is often used in autocratic system or by dictators. They can say anything they want, and everything they said is logic and right, as long as they are in power. A good case is Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines. When he was chased out of his country, all his Power Logics turned into abused of power, violation of power and nothing logical. They were used to charge him and to hang him. Power Logic often becomes crime and the user of Power Logic turns into criminal.

Power Logic is only logical within the precinct of the power wielded by the power holder. No one can challenge Power Logic or risk being charged and put behind bars, or even more serious consequences. Never play or go against Power Logic in its area of control where its power is dominant and unquestionable. The logic may be flimsy, maybe the silliest of reasons, but the power is real.

Out of its area of control, the same logic would make the person using it looking like a clown. Everyone word dressed up as logic, without the power, will be a joke. Power Logic can only apply against the people under its power and control. People that are not under the power, people who are free to think freely cannot miss the stupidity of Power Logic.

Sometimes, the users of Power Logic got so intoxicated in their logic, and after some time, after several practices, they forgot that the Power Logic was contrived and even believed in them, and may go to the world stage to expound their Power Logic as the logical way to go. They think the rest of the world could not see through the farce of Power Logic that is anything but logic.

One can’t use Power Logic on any reasonable thinking man unless one is so drunk in his mental state, after drinking too much Power Logic. Believe me, the practitioners of Power Logic never for a moment think that it is not logical. They sincerely, honestly and faithfully believe in the goodness and righteousness of their Power Logic. They never believe that once they lose their grips on power, the logic will be used to judge them and incarcerate them. Practitioners of Power Logic better pray they will not lose their power and not be taken to task for the farce of Power Logic.

Key skill for graduates – adaptability

My gosh, what, adaptability is going to be a key skill to be taught to the undergrads? After teaching them how to get all the As not enough and must teach them how to be adaptable? When one is growing up, is there a need to teach anyone how to eat, how to sleep, how to make babies? Isn’t adaptability the oldest life skill that allowed man to survive the millennium and the trials and tribulations of life? Adaptability is instinctive.

Now to think of it, it is necessary. Our brilliant jokers just cannot think other than aceing their exams. You even have to teach them how to find a boy friend or a girl friend or they would not know how and would not make babies. This is expected when you have a production line producing machine, aka robots. Unthinking but very efficiently programmed to do what they are made to do. Anything else, they are blur like sotong. They may not know how to eat and drink too.

Why is adaptability so important today and must be taught at university level? Oh while teaching this skill, make sure it is graded so that they can get an A for it or they would not bother to mug for it.

I can only think of one reason for teaching adaptability. In the past our graduates were only competing with the same people coming out from the same degree mill, all honest, straight thinking, no bullshitting, no cheating, no copying or buying their degrees. A CV submitted is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

In today’s context, life is much more complicated with the influx of foreigners with their queer degrees and CVs. Our graduates are to compete with these clever specimens from all corners of the world and apparently these newcomers have a string of scintillating degrees and CVs to match, much better than the straight As of our best graduates. Of course the strings of degrees of our graduates are nothing when the foreigners can buy as many as they want, of their own choosing, to be better than our locals. You just can’t beat them on papers.

Now what is this adaptability thing? Come on, don’t be stupid. If you want to teach our graduates life skills, survival skills, you much tell them the truth. It is not adaptability skill that is needed. It is called cheating, dishonesty, bluffology or whatever better words, but not adaptability. When everyone is cheating their way through and our naïve and innocent graduates still thinking going straight would get them the job they want despite not even being called up for interviews, you are telling them they need to be adaptable?

Please, the Singapore of honesty, integrity, accountability is long gone. The Singapore of today is all about cheating and fakes. To survive, you need to cheat your way through. Cheating is the new virtue, and stop calling it adaptability. You are cheating our graduates by telling them to be adaptable when others are cheating their way through. When cheating is fair game, our graduates, steep in honesty or simplicity and ignorant of the new realities, cannot compete fairly if they did not know others are cheating and do not know how to cheat. It is very unfair to them to think that being adaptable is the solution.

Get real.

Amos Yee’s assailant charged in court

Neo Gim Huah, the 49 year old assailant of Amos Yee was charged in court on Monday morning. He admitted hitting Amos and confessed in a CNA article, ‘Through a translator, he said that Yee had been disrespectful and had insulted Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, and that he only wanted to teach Yee a lesson as an elder and did not want to hurt Yee.’

Neo’s slapping of Amos was premeditated, planned to achieve maximum exposure to the media. He ‘wanted the assault to be publicised “so that the world at large would know that the victim was being taught a lesson”.’ He added that he wanted to ‘instil fear in the teenager, let him know what the ways of the world are and teach him a lesson, ...’

This guy must be thinking that he is another kind of god out to deliver justice to Amos, claiming that ‘it would be difficult for the criminal justice system to deal with Yee effectively because of his age’.

The court thought differently and gave him with a deterrent sentence of 3 weeks in jail to prevent the erosion of the justice system in case every monkey thinks he is the law, to deal with anyone they deemed fit, that the court is unable to deliver justice.

What would be interesting now is the possibility of other parties thinking the same way as this Neo and would want to deal him a dose of his own justice the way he did to Amos. Amos has a father and mother to discipline him and it is pure arrogance for this Neo to think he should do the job, and to represent the justice system.

What a cock? See how he feels if he is made to take his own medicine by someone who thinks he deserves to be taught a lesson, to ‘let him know what the ways of the world are...’

Finally all the suspicions about something missing ends with this man’s appearance in court and his photograph in the msm, and the 3 weeks jail awaiting him.

Can work can leow. Degrees not necessary

What can work and work efficiently, with minimal cost must be good. Old wife’s tales, grandmother’s recipe, whatever, sometimes can work wonders. Below is a wonderful example of a remedy that is cheap and good, never mind if it does not need the sophisticated machinery or skills of a million dollar surgeon. The point is that it works man!

‘Anil Jadhav, 30, was arrested on Monday after members of the public accused him of snatching the 63,000 rupee (RM3,555) necklace from a 52-year-old woman in Mumbai’s Sion area.

According to the BBC, an initial body search by police failed to retrieve the necklace, which weighed 25g.

But it was found lodged in his food pipe during X-ray scans of Mr Jadhav’s body.
Police then put him on the special diet of bananas and liquids….

Jadhav has defecated it after he was fed special liquids and bananas, and had four enemas administered to him by doctors. The necklace has since been returned to its owner.’ …thestar.com.my

What a brilliant idea. So efficient and so cheap. India is not only famous for low cost engineering. They also have low cost medicine and practices. Our hospitals can learn a trick or two from such ancient wisdom and folk practices. No need every time must queue to pay a specialists and go under the operating table costing a bomb.
This is a good example of why degrees are not necessary. Tiok boh?

A time to support the politicians

Don’t laugh, I am dead serious. Politicians are the highest office holders of a country. They run a country and are responsible for the people’s well being, and the number of people can be in millions or billions. The strange thing about this job is that not many people want to be politicians. Maybe because of its bad image that politicians are rascals, crooks. Some even said politicians cannot be trusted, worse than lawyers and salesmen.

The thing is that good politician is a rare breed and must be celebrated, loved and worshipped if you can find one, and be supported or protected. The PAP knows this and that is why they have raised the pay for politicians to a level that some think is crazy, unacceptable. But how, when no good people wants to step up and serve and those who grudgingly stepped out may demand to be paid in the millions? There is no other option but to pay ‘out of this world’ salaries to get the good men and women to be politicians.

Even as we are paying unbelievable salaries, we are still not getting the best out there. Maybe it is time to raise the salaries higher to get the really good and reluctant ones. Maybe we should cast the net worldwide to find the best men and women, citizens or no citizens, no big shit. Pay them what they want and hand them a pink IC will solve all sticky problems.

Ask the PAP for their experience in hunting for the few rare talents and you will know. They are scrapping the bottom of the barrel and still could not get the really good stuff. Look at Hsien Loong’s futuristic team, his best talents and you will get the answer.
And politicians are not confined to only the winning parties. The politicians of alternative parties are also politicians. They are also people, with two eyes and a mouth and a good heart to want to serve the people and country. And not only have they got to face many hazards peculiar to the profession, to step forward, they still need to win the hearts and minds of the people. It is time the people open their hearts to all politicians regardless of the parties they are from, to welcome them to fill these important positions that will affect their life and their future. If the people want more and better people to be politicians, they must take positive actions to tell the potential candidates that they are needed, no matter if they are from the PAP or not from the PAP.

At the moment the PAP is struggling to find the best men and women to join them. Maybe if the people are kinder and more receptive, more good and able people will step forward to serve the parties they feel comfortable with, parties with the right mission and heart to serve the interest of the people. Then only the people will have more and better candidates to choose from.

In the case of politicians from alternative parties, they need all the encouragement and support from the people. If the people want them to represent them, the people must stand up to say so, to walk with these brave and good men and women, to defend them when they are fighting for their causes. If the people do not think it is necessary to support the men and women in politics and let them fend for themselves in this treacherous profession, why would the good men and women risk their lives and well being to step forward to receive the bashing, to have their lives ruined, the lives of their families ruined or compromise to want to serve the people? A good case is the WP, seemingly fighting for survival, alone, without the people showing any care or support for them except during the election.

The people deserve the govt they get. If the people do not stand up to support the good people serving them, they deserve to have the second or third best to serve them, or to exploit them. The politicians are there to serve and not the enemies of the people. Only bad politicians are the enemies of the people and the state. It is high time the people know what they want and go out to support the politicians they want and not waiting for any wannabes to call them and say they are the best to serve them. The people need more choices and this can only happen if the politicians are welcomed and celebrated and supported.

What happened at Hong Lim, the turnout to support the people spending time and effort to speak for them, to fight for their cause and their interest, is pathetic. If the people did not want good people to represent them, to stand up for them, to fight for them, then they must be prepared to contend with mediocrity or worse, to have charlatans and pretenders pretending to serve them but serving themselves.

Oh, good politicians are not those with a string of degrees and earning big monies in their professions. Good politicians are sensible people with their hearts in the right place, to put the interest of the people first and foremost, to improve the life of the people first, not their own interest first. Beware of politicians that demand millions before they are prepared to serve.

Let’s celebrate the politicians together by showing them that the people need them, want them and wiling to support and to stand and fight side by side with them against all odds. The people can only protect their own interest with good men and women stepping forward to serve them, selfless and righteous men and women.

The politicians need the people to support and to protect them as well, especially those budding politicians from the alternative parties. They are very vulnerable and no matter how good they are, they cannot live to fight another day without the support of the people, without the people standing up for them. A politically apathetic people do not deserve the services of good men and women to serve them.

Amos Yee – The boy versus the State

Amos Yee was charged for 3 counts by the public prosecutor for his rant in his youtube video. The third charge has now been stood down but not necessarily withdrawn. The first charge is for posting obscenity, an offence against the law and not necessarily that someone has been hurt. Of course there will be people who felt offended by it, but without stretching the imagination too far to say that someone may also be offended when it rains or the sun rises too early or too late. The second charge of offending a religion, very subjective, some people would claim to be offended while the church would to say it was alright and forgiven.

The third charge would be the family members of the dead person to feel offended and there is a clear relationship between the offended and the people abused or ridiculed. Can a non related person or the public claimed to be offended too and seek the court to judge against the boy? For the moment this not an issue as it has since been set aside.

The situation now is that this boy is being charged by the State and produced in court with hands handcuffed and legs shackled like a very serious criminal. And the boy is being defended by 3 lawyers on a pro bono basis. And that was it. It is now a matter between the boy and the State.

Roy Ngerng, a friend of the boy, tried to internationalise his plight by writing to the Pope in the Vatican and several bodies in the UN. Not sure if he had addressed his mail to Ban Ki Moon, the Secretary General. And not sure if he has sent any mail to Obama, the President of the USA who always climbed to the top of the mountain to yell human rights violation and claimed to be the defender of human rights in all corners of the earth. Maybe this case is not an issue of human rights, just a legal issue, not even political.

There has been silence in the western front. No Pope, no UN, no Obama. No one seems to be interested in the affair of this boy or his well being. In the domestic front, no politician, not even from the ruling party, except maybe the SDP, has stood up to say something about this case. So it is not a political issue too.

The case as it stood is a straight forward case of a boy against the State on a matter of law, a trepassing of the State. No amount of internationalisation or politicisation would turn this simple and trivial case into anything else but a simple matter for the court to decide. The case is so simple that no one would dare to use it as an excuse to flog for their cause or to cry crocodile tears. The only tears that would be shed would be the tears of the boy’s parents. No, the brave boy would stand tall, would not shed a tear, not even when he was hit by a 49 year old man outside the court.

There are some noises from the lunatic fringe but just noise and nothing more to have any impact on this case. The world and world news too have scant little interest in this case. No do gooder, bleeding heart socialist, or conscience stricken western journalist would even give it a second look.

It is the boy against the State. Or it is the boy and his parents and the 3 lawyers versus the State. No drumming in Hong Lim Park other than the little murmurs that were hardly heard in the alternative media. It is the day the world and conscience turn their backs, to look the other way, not wanting to know there is a boy called Amos Yee.

Planktons struck- fish farmers needing help

Noven Chew and a member of the Nylon String, the organiser of the Charity event
Bachata Rosa's dancers

Last Thursday the ST put up another article on the plight of fish farmers struck by killer planktons in the Straits of Johore. A few hundred tons of fish for the table were wiped out in a matter of days and the poor farmers saw their hard work went belly up. Their harvests were gone, each losing hundreds of thousands of dollars, putting their livelihood at stake. It was a big blow to the industry and to the fish farmers with limited resources. They needed all the financial assistance to replenish their fish stocks and to go about without income for months.

The AVA has stepped in to provide technical assistance and some financial help to give the fish farmers a new start, new fish stocks and fries, technology and equipment to protect against new plankton proliferations in the water and threatening the fish stocks.

Private individuals have also step forward to give a helping hand to the fish farmers. Noven Chew, a single mum, lost almost everything and her friends rounded up their friends to get her farm back to shape. A group calling themselves ‘Nylon String Men’, the organizer, worked with Victor, the owner of Hooha Pub/Café in Pasir Panjang to raise fund for Noven two weekends ago. Local singers and dancers answered the call to perform for a charity night at Hooha.

Bachata Rosa, a single mum helping another single mum, also did her part, contributing  two dance items for the night with 4 dancers from 4 different age group.

It is heartening to see fellow citizens standing to help fellow citizens in difficult times. Many thanks to the Nylon String Men, Victor and Bachata Rosa for their public spiritedness and generosities. Govt bodies can help, the people too can do their parts and lend a helping hand when fellow citizens are in need.

Amos Yee – What are the issues?

On the first day of the hearing that took just 20 minutes, the defence lawyers stated that the graphics in Amos Yee’s facebook were nothing offensive or obscene and many magazines or media had similar graphics or pictures in them. The case was adjourned with the court asking the counsels to define what is offensive and not offensive.

The second point in contention was Amos offending the Christians and with intent. And that it is no good as it would, in my interpretation, harmful to our social fabric and make the Christians angry. The defence pleaded it was not Amos intention to hurt the Christians. So the issue now is a matter of Amos intent with what he said and how it offended the Christians.

The defence counsel also quoted that many Christians said they were not offended. Would this be enough? Would it be enough if hypothetically the Pope or some Christian leaders were to stand up to say they are not offended, which means there was no victim?

While the two sides were saying their peace, it would be good if the defence lawyers could make a plea to the judge to remove the chains and shackles on the poor boy. He is only a kid and he has not hurt anyone. Can the court be kind enough to take pity on the boy without influencing the court’s decision the case?

Perhaps the President or Chairman of the Kindness Movement may want to say some kind words for poor Amos.

Poor child.
