Globalisation creates more and higher paying jobs for Singaporeans…or for foreigners

This is posted in the statestimesreview,

'In the latest interview with ABC Radio today (June 10), Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that globalisation and the import of foreigners create more jobs and higher salaries for Singaporeans:

“In some countries, globalisation is viewed as a monster that wrests jobs from workers. But in Singapore, I see it as a creator of jobs and booster of workers’ wages. This is because as a globalised nation, we can play a role which is servicing the region, which is servicing the world. In doing so, we can have jobs in Singapore which are better paying for a wide range of our people.”'

How many of you agree with this statement that more foreigners create more jobs and higher salaries for Singaporeans? What I know, and what everyone knows, and reported in the media and govt statistics, is that more than 2m jobs were created for foreigners in Singapore and more than a few hundred thousands of these foreigners are earning higher salaries than Singaporeans, and many are earning millions in Singapore companies and govt linked companies. As for the number of jobs created by foreigners for Singaporeans and paying higher salaries, we need statistics to prove that this is the case. Would there be statistics to show how many jobs were created by the foreigners/foreign companies and how many are higher paying jobs occupied by Singaporeans?

The statistics so far proved that Singapore is creating more jobs, millions of jobs for foreigners and many paying higher salaries and many in the millions in Singapore companies and GLCs. Many CEOs of local companies and GLCs are foreigners.

What do you think? Can anyone prove otherwise that indeed more foreigners are creating higher paying jobs for Singaporeans? Name the million dollar Singaporeans that benefited from this globalization drive. Just the academia alone is providing thousands of foreigners with higher paying jobs that they could not get in their home countries.

The big question, is this a win win for Singaporeans and foreigners or a win for foreigners and lose for Singaporeans?

The statistics may be correct. Not because true blue Sinkies benefitted from the program but the way it was counted. They consider these foreigners as locals because they were given PR status. So statistically it is a win-win but we all know it is a win for foreigners.

Fake news. FAKE NEWS FAKE NEWS FAKE NEWS.
THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF JOBS WENT TO FOREIGNERS NOT LOCALS! THE GOVT SHOULD PROVE USING STATISTICS, NOT TELL LIES TO FOREIGN MEDIA!

Good and high paying jobs like CEO of DBS went to a Singaporean.

RB

But the more pertinent question is, even if it is a win for foreigners and lose for Singaporeans and this benefits PAP,

and

if 70% of Singaporeans still voted for PAP,

so for PAP, why cannot?

"Globalisation and the import of foreigners create more jobs and
higher salaries for Singaporeans"..........Really?

Hahaha.......................

Just look around you.....many many many "lunch-es" had already stolen!

Hahaha......................

Anyway.....this is what the 70% wanted!

Hahaha......................

Tiok. If PAP can win election and win big, everything also can, as long as it benefits PAP.

And if it so happen that when it benefits PAP it also benefit Sinkies, then good lah for Sinkies. If it only benefit PAP but not Sinkies, then too bad lah, for Sinkies.

So for Sinkies, life is either good lah or bad lah, and also of course depending on which Sinkie u are talking about.

The good and talented Sinkies have left Singapore.

What is left behind are not so good and also expensive to employ Sinkies.

So PAP took in foreigners to replace the good and talented Sinkies who had left.

These foreigners maybe also not that good lah, but at least they are cheaper and also have good working attitude eg working long hours and hardworking.

So smart Sinkies who can become boss will employ these cheap and good foreigners to make money. Of course daft Sinkies will lose out and suffer lah.

When there is money made, there will be GDP growth and also money to pay for million dollar PAP ministers and top civil servants.

Without these foreigners, everybody will be worse off, and of course PAP will not want this to happen. Better to have some daft Sinkies to lose out and suffer rather than everybody suffer, tio bo?

Anonymous 9.56am worry not worry not!

Singapore.....Sure good lah! Sure got jobs lah.

This why 70% voted PAP! They were not stupid lah!

So.......dont worry.....dont worry.....be real happy!

新加坡是天堂! 希望明天会更好!

Cheers!

Haha, I brought in foreigners to steal your lunch and asked you to go steal the lunch in the villages of the foreigners I brought in.

Clever or not?

Seeing how the LHL PAP govt had screwed its own people, that's why the Chinese don't trust Singapore . . .

The India-Singapore CECA is a form of economic colonialism as India nationals from the 1.33 billion-people country flood the tiny island state to cannibalize jobs . . .

Anonymous said...

"government is getting foreign agency to find jobs for Sinkies" - that's an example of globalization creating (HR) jobs for foreigners, and using taxpayers' money to pay them!

Anonymous said...

Complain so much for fuck?!?!?!

Most sinkies are happy & earning big bucks!!!

That's why they keep voting for PAP.

If you're doing badly, maybe this place not for you --- you should seriously consider moving to China or Vietnam or Burma or Cambodia or Laos.

PAP Ministers not Singaporeans meh?
The total number of PAP Ministers not increasing meh?
PAP Ministers not paid million dollar salaries meh?

So how can redbean say that Globalisation and Foreigners are not creating good jobs for PAP people (oops!) ... I mean Singaporeans?

Is the above true or false?
I don't know. You tell me lah.

Better still, if you use your brains:

"If you're doing badly, maybe voting PAP is not for you --- you should seriously consider voting Opposition, WP, SDP, SFP, RP and etc."

Tiok lah. Globalisation and Foreigners are creating good jobs like ministers for Singaporeans. And Minister must be Singaporean, tio bo?

And 70% voted PAP to have more PAP ministers and be paid million dollar salaries. Not meh?

Anonymous said...

And 70% voted PAP...
12:50 pm

No need 70% lah. Even 60% can already, if PAP can win more than 90% seats. All ministers will be PAP, and being PAP, they will be paid million dollar salaries, even after discount, eg after GE 2011.

And with things so gooooood for PAP, Hsien Loong must be a confident and happy Singaporean, tio bo?

Anonymous said...

Even 60% can already,...
12:58 pm

Next time maybe PAP will have Singapore as one big GRC with 89 seats.

So the opposition party either contest with 89 candidates as one party, or cannot contest. Most likely opposition cannot contest and PAP will have walkover.

And if there is contest, and even if PAP win only 50.0001% votes, PAP can win 100% seats liao.

Possible or not, u say lah?

Tiok, and allow foreign agencies to find jobs for foreigners in Spore. Clever or not?

Possible or not, u say lah?
1:10 pm

Why not, if PAP can even have Malay only for Presidential Election?

With PAP, never say cannot one.

That's why smart Sinkies never fight PAP by the rules of PAP. Sure lose one, because PAP, by their rules, will make sure you lose.

That's why Tan Cheng Bock already lost even before the fight starts! And this also shows that Tan Cheng Bock is not that smart to fight PAP. Hahahahaha.

I like this .... a (don't know how to speak Malay) Malay President.
One that is classified as a Malay person by a (don't where come from) committee.

LHL has created many good and higher paying jobs (eg PAP Ministers) for Singaporeans.
Is it his fault if you are not a PAP member, and therefore disqualified from applying for such jobs?

Is the above true?
I don't know and that is why I am asking here.

Peesai is a rich man playground and income disparity will be even more accentuated over time ...?

For the lower Y group, it is "ITE" ...?

Retirement is almost not feasible for them and therefore to survive they must see themselves as "foreigners" in their "own homeland" and "retire" in "3rd world foreign land" in order to live out some decent twilight years ...?

Social fabric is likely to be "distorted" in the process but who cares peesai stays as one piece or 1,000,000 pieces as far as individual's survival is at stake and especially when they are meanly dispensed with "Yew die Yewr own biz" treatment by careless, selfish, self-enriching decadent rulers whose problems are deciding which brand of bird nest to choose to gargle eveLeemorning and which 7-figure luxury car to drive out for dinner eveLEEevening ...?

Globalisation or not, the hope of lower Y group is in a "3rd world foreign land" in retirement and not "own homeland" which is an unspoken but sad & cruel reality for oldies...?

Even at current moments, many oldies are hoping to live out their remaining years in foreign land and such harsh reality did not go unnoticed by the younger generation ...?

Pui! Pui! Pui!

A bit of globalization is fine. Too much and it hurts. Its like medicine. No need too much. More indians doctors coming this way. Be wary.

Just as Singapore antagonize China over the South China Sea issue while almost all other South East Asian nations smartly chose not to, the Singapore PM is still in his own world glorifying globalization when U.S. voters had already rejected globalization in favor of protectionism as they voted Trump as U.S. President, and British voters ditched globalization as they voted for Brexit.

None of his million$-salaried Ministers around him want to tell him the truth, just as they won't admit the Merlion is a hideous freak!

Indian doctors as good as Singaporean doctors ... yes?
Indian doctors are so good, even our PAP Ministers use them as their own physicians ... yes?
Very soon, I think you will see our PAP Ministers go to India to seek medical treatment.

Indian accountants are so good, even PAP Ministers use them to audit our National Reserves ... yes?

Indian IT professionals are so good, even our Cyber Security Agency of Singapore is using them to secure our national IT system. Where do you think the idea to unplug and bar all civil servants from the internet come from?

4.55pm // ...when U.S. voters had already rejected globalization in favor of protectionism as they voted Trump as U.S. President, and British voters ditched globalization as they voted for Brexit. //

Anon 4.55pm,

Yew are so smart...

Indeed, globalization is like a tide in an ebb and flow .....? It hit a peak during the last century in the 1990s and 911 in 2001 was supposedly a turning point? The GFC in 2008/ 2009 was another major trend reversal point where it was so contagion that what started as a mortgage crisis in one of the States in the US spread like wild fire and soon engulf the entire world? The 3rd nail in "Globalisation 2" coffin could be Brexit and the 4th nail "Brexit ++" as US President Donald Trump dubbed in his tweet after he won in the election in last November?

The cries for protectionism in the OECD countries in the face of massive job losses and widening income inequality crater have reached deafening level since 2016?

As Angkor Virgin69 mentioned previously that many oldies left only 1 or 2 screws, "Globalisation 2" may be in similar fate and reminiscent of the "Globalisation 1" waning tide in the 1890s?

The carnages in the global shipping industry in recent such as the demise of peesai shipping icon "LON" are symptoms that "Globalisation 2" may well currently be in the "ill" state of the "birth, aging, ill, death" cycle ... and all is not well in international trade which is a key pillar and barometer in any globalisation tide?

With the remaining screws fast diminishing and "running" out in "Globalisation 2", many oldies may outlive it and get to witness "its passing & funeral" in their last remaining years ...?

Obviously, the fate of peesai which rose and prospered on the back of the "Globalisation 2" rising tide between the 1970s to 1990s in the last century would be worrisome and the days of (instant millionaires) sakar-ing and suck-ing to riches maybe NUMBERED and fast running out ...?

What goes up must come down in the end and noboLEE can defy nature and the natural law of gravity, regardless whether these somboLEEs think they are "natural ahLEEstocrats" or naught ...?

India pulls out of Defence Dialogue threatening to sour “friendly ties between India and Singapore”

http://www.theindependent.sg/india-pulls-out-of-defence-dialogue-threatening-to-sour-friendly-ties-between-india-and-singapore/

---------------------
This was reported by The Hindu on Sat (10 Jun),’Think tank snub clouds India-Singapore ties’. The Hindu is the second most circulated daily English-language mainstream newspaper in India, with average circulation of some 1.5 million.

It reported that the Indian delegation was pulled out of the recent Shangri-La Dialogue which was held early this month in Singapore over the ranking of Indian Minister.

A perceived snub from the organizer of the event led to India’s decision to withdraw its entire delegation led by Indian Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre, reported The Hindu. It has confirmed this with Indian officials.

Do you think India will punish Singapore by cancelling the CECA Agreement?
Do you think India will stop supplying Singapore with talented PMETs?
Do you think Singapore will die because India is angry with us?

Do you think Singapore's MFA will hara kiri over this incident?

Now that Lui Tuck Yew is in Japan, do you think he will be able to teach us how to do a proper hara kiri?

You see lah.
Now you know why in an international forum ... you cannot ownself invite ownself.
You must ask and wait for an official invitation.

If Suhash Bhamre had been a smart Singaporean Dragon;
He would have insisted that he get an official invitation first before going to the Shangri La Dialogue.

India will guard the CECA agreement in the most secure bank vault, not to be stolen. They would protect this document with an army, at all cost. where on earth could they sign another silly documents like this that is all in India's favour? With this document the sillypore would be at India's mercy.

India pretends to kpkb but deep down they knew how valuable is this document that silly Singaporeans signed to allow Indian workers with fake degrees or no degrees to enter and work with no need to check or verification.

And would India continue to send PMETs here? With the CECA sillypore is helping India to solve its unemployment problem and they would insist to send as many of their unemployables here to steal the jobs from daft sinkies.
