No Singapore after LKY

Some quarters are hoping that LKY should disappear from the scene as soon as possible for personal reasons. And they believe Singapore will become a better place. Could be. But my view is that it is a deadly wish. There will be no Singapore if LKY is out of the picture. Why? The political picture looks so serene and complete today, like a jigsaw puzzle with all its pieces nicely in place. They are all held there because of the presence of LKY. The dominant players may think that all the right pieces are in the right place. And if not, the high salaries and promotions should have bought some loyalties. What I see is that it is far from the truth. The day LKY is out of the picture, the whole jigsaw puzzle will be in disarray. No one will be able to hold everyone together. No one, after LKY, has the stature and commanding presence to do that. Even now, you can see the forces manoevring to get some pieces out and some pieces in. The juggling for favourable positions will intensify as the day gets nearer. What we are seeing is the calm before the storm. We will have a new jigsaw puzzle with a totally different picture. And what kind of Singapore will come out of it? I think the death wish will see the demise of many and Singapore will never be the same again.

Wonder who is manoevring for favourable positions. Hmmm, must be:
The one who can feel it in his bones? Or
The one who says he looks silly? Or
The one who says saying sorry also must apologise? Or
The one who is known for his bargaining skills when buying chickens? Or
The one who likes to smoke Marlboro cigarettes? Or
The one with the uncombed hair? Or
?????

Singapore is nothing without the oldman, I am glad you finally see the point.

hi anonymous,

i know what i am talking about. do you? i have been studying and following lky for more than the time you were born. i have seen how he transformed this island to what it is today.

and i admire him in many things that he had done but not said or acknowledged or cannot say and cannot acknowledged.

you understand what i am saying?

without being personal, many singaporeans got him to thank for for where they are today. of course there are some who fell on the wrong side and will be very bitter.

i dread the day he passes away and the turmoil that will follow and the singapore that will become.

Redbean, you suddenly sound like the red guards worshipping Mao.

i give credit when it's due. of course i don't worship anyone wholeheartedly. there is not absolute white or black. it is important to stay objective and look at each issue separately and objectively.

at times we want to do a summation and say on the hole, well....

You worry too much, that's the problem.

anyone who claims to be concerned about singapore must worry and be forward looking. worry is the trait of a caring leader.

i am thinking and worrying very hard to see what else can be done to help singaporeans after life on this world is over.
