It is all Singapore's fault!

Juwono blamed Singapore for not having any intention to sign the DCA And Extradition Treaty. He claimed that Singapore intentionally made it difficult by insisting on having more days for military training just to make sure that the two treaties will not be signed. Now I understand why the Indonesians have no faith in the intelligence of their political leaders. They did not even know what they were signing and needed their Parliamentarians to show how stupid they were. And when proven so, they blamed the Singaporeans for conning them. One up for Singapore negotiators for being able to con simple minded negotiators from Indonesia.

Singapore has always been considered by many of her neighbours to be a big bully. The mentality of Singapore is you must win all the time. Singapore thinks that money is the solution to all problems. You cannot throw money at everything and hope that the problems will go away.

Personally I do not blame the indonesians and the Malaysian for their hostility towards Singapore. As far as they are concerned Singapore can never be trusted.

I think you are VERY wrong and UNFAIR with your assessment.

what are you, a non citizen? becos if you are a singaporean you SHOULDNT think like that, but shud close ranks instead. we have never been hostile but hostilities have often been hurled at us, you and me included!

do you think all these craps will go away if we had been exceedingly generous and warm? use your brain please! condescending and friendship wud not do away with these problems becos they lies with these guys and their prejudiced pea brained mentality. you beg and prostrate yourself once, see what they wud expect u to do the next time? you end up giving more and more concessions, do you really want a govt that does what other weak and useless govt do? think again!

if a person wants you to fail, no matter what you do will not make him change his mind! he will only be satisfied at the moment you are dead or when he cud take over all your stuffs that he wanted.

if singapore is not rich enough to even be considered a "bully" then we will be bullied all day long for sure. therefore between being seen as a powerful bully or being pushed around as a miserable cousin, I rather be the SOB anyday. and you my friend shud be thanking your lucky star that we have such good and smart negotiators among our leaders. use your brain!!

and i dun no why but i am getting the idea that there seems to be a behind the scene movement that is affecting our relationships. alot of things that happened with malaysia and now indonesia seems to be coincidental, like a symphony orchestra... same suspicions and same fears..same co-ordination..same language of uncooperativeness...

so hope u understd it is not that our guys are not working hard, but i believe there are elements beyond their control...

in my humble opinion...

hi anonymous,

when you read an article or a post, you must use your brain and read the real intent of the article.

when someone praises another person or passes a remark at another person, you must know the intent to get the true meaning.

'you are a genius' or 'you are so bad' could mean differently.

please read my post again and get the real intent.

Whatever lah, I don't think our neighbours, be it citizens or the government, are angels. You read some of the comments on the Malaysian blogs or letters to the Malaysian media and you get a feel of the occasional twisted thinking of some of the ultra Malays.

that's why instead of sympathising with the bandits as the above has done, I strongly felt singaporeans shud close ranks to support our own fellas. we are already so vulnerable even without these divisive views.

our neighbours operate on a very different kind of logic. to them there is no right or wrong but what they can take. they just believe in taking for free. and they know we can't do any damn thing about it short of open hostility. and this is something we cannot afford even though we can kick the daylight out of them.

Pardon my unpretentious dimwitness - poured bare here, dear one & all.

Asia has many quirky attitudes & beliefs. A handful not easily understood nor shared by the West, where we get most of our stuff from: education, media blah blah..

In Asia, U do good. U're quite alone.
U do bad, U get caught. Pp throw stones @ U. More will come join in.

In Asia, U fare badly. Pp shows U they're sympathetic. Inside, they despise U.
U do well. Pp shows U they're happy for U, say U'r smart n all blah blah.. Inside, they're wary of U. Even jealous.

If U'r doing bad & U misbehave, pp stays a distance from U. Inside, they'll say U'r pathetic.
If U'r doing well & U misbehave, pp stays cautious of U. Inside, they'll say U'r proud, obnoxious, bully blah blah.

Where is Singapore in this context?
What abt our neighbours, the developing & lesser third world fellows?

Very hard to do people one. Don't even say do country!!
