GST increase no longer an issue

According to Sue Ann Chia, the 2% GST increase apparently is not turning out to be a political hot potato. Now is this good news or bad news? I think the people will find the 2% increase not that painful. But what is hurting them will be the other increases that are not related to the GST increases, and much much more than the affordable 2% increase. Now why are there so many increases and in double digits? These are what that will hurt the people's pockets.

They have to play down the effect of the GST and play up the effect of the other price increases. If they really believe that the other price increases are not related to GST, they must be joking. Supermarkets, hawkers, shopkeepers etc have already marked up prices 2 months back. They are not so dumb as CASE seem to think they are, to wait till after July 1 to increase prices and be reported. They have learned to move a step ahead of CASE.

Rice, meat & 2 vege was SGD2.50, now its SGD2.70, portion also smaller, 2 percent GST has such bigger effect b4 01st Jul 2007, strange....

coffee black, was 60 cents, now 70 cents in a smaller cup, also b4 01st Jul 2007, so when come 01st Jul 2007, there wun be any increase, so ZERO impact....

milk powder was SGD20.30, now already SGD23.50 also b4 GST increase, believe this was reduction in milk production due to change in weather....

WORST case, all properties already up more than 20 percent... how come NO one complain????? Cause NETT worth increase... my foot, u sell and buy expensive also..... Only those who has multiple properties will laugh lah.

Medical fee also up....

Later transport also going up again...

Then .... finally ministers will ask for more again... cause it will be more GOOD years... yeah, all will have more but smaller money........sigh... cause the lower income will suffer most, and the middle income will slowly become lower income....

cannot say msm are propaganda. they have printed in black and white claiming that they are professionally trained, they do research and are objective. what they said can be substantiated by facts and figures.

unlike blogs and internet forum, we only talk rubbish and spread rumours.

and i believe that they are right. ok, i am going to hide myself in woodbridge.

An increase in any kind of taxation should be an issue, because the reason is CLEAR:

Increase taxes means the govt is INEFFICIENT—that it cannot operate on the money it has been given, it isn't looking for increased efficiency thereby reducing costs—like what good private businesses do, and thus takes advantage of the monopoly it has on extracting money from the people.

The govt has a territorial monopoly on administration, and TAXATION. That is a BIG problem.

just look at the number of political appointments that are created, layer after layer.

and every layer does not come cheap.
