general election: prelim round 6

this is more a kopitiam impression of how things have changed over the years. not too long ago the most frustrating compliant by the opposition is that they find it very difficult to contest the election. and the reason was not the redrawing of boundaries or grcs. the reason against the opposition is simply the brand name. it was often heard that you wear the badge on anyone or anything, it will be voted into parliament. the pap brand was so strong that it was quite pointless for the opposition to think of winning. today kopitiam talk is quite different. the impression is that if you wear the badge on anyone or thing, it is likely to lose. what a reversal in trend. a 180 degress about turn. would such an impression really be an indication of a big vote swing? kopitiam talk is one thing and the voting pattern or the actual voting is another. given the track record, the goodies, and the lack of good decent candidates from the opposition, even if there is a vote swing, the impact is not likely to be very great. but it will all depend on how good the opposition is. the issue now is not how good the pap is. so if the opposition is able to attract and put up good people, the mood may be more favourable to them to get voted in.

All this talk about the GE. Can anyone accurately predict the date? I am quite anxious to see the final results of this GE. I am also looking forward to the cup of coffee I am sure to win. Btw, I am a Starbucks addict.

I'm quite sure we'd get the S$15,000...

yeah man.

after giving the president $115k, anything less will be very unnatural.

i am looking forward to it too.

Just in case, lets us submit a motion to the civil servants. They should not treat us like beggars, and we are definitely better persons than Durai. We ask for S$15,000 since the government is eager to boost our lives with the casinos...

The government can afford lah! This is then real sharing of wealth with those stuck in life. :D

I am sure we'd have the S$15,000... if not more! Cheers!

i support that. maybe we can proposed to the govt to give everyone a headstart in the casino, huh?

it would be great if tomorrow the newspaper headline on the front page reads 'to promote the casinos, the govt has creditted $15,000 into the bank accounts of every singaporeans.'

bet you the bids for the two casinos will be up by 100%. we will have the biggest casino in the world.

We are already the biggest casino in the world. We have stake the entire well-being over 40years on various gamble... not only on Casinos. So, isn't Singapore already the biggest casino in the world?

elfred,

life itself is a big gamble. our parents gamble with our lives. we gamble with the lives of our children.

everything is gambling. when you get married, you gamble with your life too.

It's still how you gamble. You can invest in the stocks market, you can aim to speculate with contras, you can focus on handling risk by hedging...

You can also do show hand.

And while SuZhou failure is outside Singapore... we're now doing a show hand by bringing problems directly into Singapore. How sweet.

You believe those half-baked measures can handle the side effects... Eg. Chen Jin Lang(陈金浪), as in the anti-gambling show claims he detested gambling since very young in his own capacity, yet he still got addicted. Now we have Chen Jin Lang to tell people not to gamble...简直自愚愚人。他告诉自己睹无益,自己都赌到昏天暗地,那他还教国人不去睹。哈哈哈~

elfred,

not everyone is born equal or with the same intellect.

you will have all kinds of gamblers, some reasonable, some unable to reason. you will be surprised how many people are so weak mentally that they cannot pick themselves together.

Anyway, I just find certain thing laughable... 有点无可奈何的感觉。 Baah... not my problem! Can't be bothered!

I WANNA GET OUT AND NOW!

just joking elfred.

something talking shit can be quite interesting.

I can take jokes, Reddie, but best not this sort when I'm trying hard to free myself... You know.

Joining a SPP which is not exactly ready is going risk rendering me on the wrong political course against PAP for all the wrong reasons.

And gathering the neutrals together into a meaning force for this silly nation-wannabe is such... uncertainty.

Tell-signs MM knows very well, or at least enough, of where all of us on this tiny boat are heading...

Now the problem is how to retreat to safety which is troubling me... So appreciate help more than joke on this one. I know I'm kinda full of shitz. I got piles of those comments when I talked about the crisis during sec school time till my last days in NS to a silly old stuckar major who 'marked' me.

When people don't see, it'd be all shitz.

Ok, how to evacuate...?
