Fools, gamblers or strategists?

I can't believe my ears when I heard in the news that some single seat wards will be facing 3 corner fights and some even 4 corner fights. The first impression that comes to mind is that the opposition parties are made up of fools or just opportunists trying their luck. For years, it has been proven that on a one to one contest, the ruling party will win hands down. And here the oppositions are going in to contest in 3 and 4 corner fights. What are they up to? What are they thinking? Nothing to lose? Not really huh. There is a deposit to be forfeited. Other than spoiling everyone's chances, there is a monetary price to pay. Maybe the parties cannot say no to the many adventurers who die die want to try. Maybe the parties should ask the adventurers to pay for the deposits themselves. The other thing to be mindful is the perception of the electorate. What will the electorate be thinking when a motley bunch tries to fight against the ruling party and among themselves? Credibility is at stake. I just hope that it is just a wayang, a strategy to confuse the enemy. Comes nomination day it will be a one against one contest. The opposition parties need to show to the electorate that they are serious in wanting to win the election and not mucking around for fun. And a 3 or 4 corner fight simply says that they are not worthy to be elected. Or some jokers is out to spoil the chances of other better candidates. In this case I am for a higher deposit for whoever to lose, to make it painful in the pocket so that they would not dare to tikam tikam. But higher deposit is a bad idea as it will give undue advantage to those with the money to throw.

Many suspect that there are moles out to spoil the show and they are of the view that in a 3 or more corner fights, they will either vote the PAP or spoil their votes. Me am of different view, i think voters should vote in the moles and see how they work with their supposed master.
Another reason is to let these moles reveal their real selves and be identified.

As for deposit, please do not suggest any tweak, most of the money are not from the candidates themselves.

Aiyah relac lah redbean. Politics is a zero sum game -- only one winner per seat.

Therefore at some point you are going to get a situation where people just have to 'try' the 'impossible'.

Sit back and enjoy the fun lah. I'm waiting for the gloves to come off where candidates take the fight into the gutter -- the dirtier, the better!

The mentality of these people is very disturbing. They are just saboing one another. Then again, that's the funny side of life.

That's the reason the PAP will be around forever. The opposition parties are shooting their own feet and nothing is worse than that.

But, as patriot said, and I too concur, there are obviously moles demanding such contest to spoil the chances of the opposition. I just do not like the idea of party hoppers joining one party after another. I do not believe they value loyalty. Not just recently, but even in the days of old. That is why the opposition will continue to languish and disappoint voters.

People in big groups are already stupid as a collective.

Then there are those who chase power and 'ezy-money' who have to 'appeal' to the stupidy of the big groups to gain their 'approval'.

This special class of the worst of humankind must do battle with others of their ilk competeing for the attention and approval of the big group of stupid people.

When you look at it like that, you are glad to be apart and above this shit, and thus be entertained.

Enjoy your stupidity folks! Let is all hang out!
