Kudos to Tan Kin Lian

The formation of an independent watchdog group is a great leap forward in the protection of the small people that are often left in the lurch. The Financial Services Consumer Association(Fisca) is a welcome move. Tan Kin Lian has done it again, for the small and helpless people. We need more of such organisations for the good of the people. What such associations need is more clout, say professionals especially in the legal profession, to take up their case at minimal cost. In our expensive legal system, the small people without money often fell victims to the rich or the faceless corporations. The next thing that is needed is a channel to air their cases. I think as time goes on, as they become more vocal, the only reliable and dependable channel is still the cyberspace. The cyberspace is the friend of the small people as it is free and truly neutral and will print anything for anyone. Good work, Tan Kin Lian and friends, of the people.

I thought there is this outfit known as SIAS also running for the little fellas? When I was CLOBberred many moons ago, I didn't get much help from this SIAH. Don't think this FICAS can do much either in the long run. You can form anything you want but when the big boys of banking say no, it's just a sheer waste of time.

true, can only kpkb unless they got some muscles. what is sias?

Sorry.

SIAH should be SIAS.

FICAS should be FISCA or better still FISTUP.

Sorry. Old fingers cannot type so well nowadays even with the help of a state of the art keyboard.

I think SIAS stand for Small Investors Association of Singapore. See, they are no so effective so that I am already not quite sure what they stand for.

I think using the big 5 law firms can get you better results.

hi janice, anything outside the establishment, hmmmm....

it is still good to kpkb.

wally, expensive lawyers sure work. and better still, let the other party know that you have financial resources to go on and on and the other party will give up, or he will stand to lose a fortune.

Yeah, like Durai. Wonder who go on and on and lost a fortune?

You never ever want to go against someone with a mountain of cash and an unassailable reputation and standing to uphold even though you may have a molehill to engage, for a short while, the services of a big time lawyer. It's like a chess game. Attack and intimidate your adversery only if less resourceful than you and you want to make a dramatic move and checkmate.

Cyberspace is not free and definitely not neutral. The ISPs are laughing their way to the bank and lots of negative vibes in certain spots.

Governments are also increasingly making their presence. Depending on the intent, sometimes it is a good thing.

Many netizens may criticise the new P65 blog but I personally find it a good change and more inviting. I have read the articles and feel they are mostly well-written and mature. Whether they are affiliated to certain parties is a non-issues since established aggregators which claim to be neutral are either anonymous or ex-partisan.

We need views from all parties, small, medium or large to make cyberspace truly 'democratic'.

No, I am not a government spy.

hi anonymous, everyone has a view. in reality, no one is neutral especially when you belong to a particular group. it is better to be honest and say you are a chicken, a duck or a cat and your views are that.

how could members of a political party say that their views are neutral? i am trying very hard to believe that it can be.

That is why cyberspace is not neutral, whether writers are affiliated or not to any party does not make them any more neutral or biased because human beings are themselves bias.

So, dwelling on party affiliations is a waste of time.

But agree with you that what TKL is doing is good. At least he is no longer a NATO who wants 100,000 signatures before getting to work for the people.
