Are you 30 something?

All those 30 somethings out there, stand up and be counted. You could be the next PM of Singapore. The search is on for the next PM to succeed Hsien Loong. All eyes will now be starring at the next batch of PAP candidates for 2012. Those in young PAP or helping in the MPS would probably stand a good chance. Youth is capital. All those above 40s or above mid 30s, well, keep slogging, over the hill.

Wow! This means PM Lee will remain as PM until 2022 (2012 plus 10 yrs for the 4th PM to learn the job). By then, PM Lee will be at least 70 yrs old!! Hmm....somehow I have a very strong feeling that he can't last that long given his state of health/energy level....

Only in Singapore do we need 10 years for the next PM to be ready to lead.

Not the case in other countries where experienced older politicians are operationally ready from day one.

Why the difference in succession strategies? Been racking my brains over it and the only answer I have right now is that those 10 years are used to prepare the future PM to be party-friendly.

Why else do we want to waste money on a young incompetent punk for 10 years over a ready-made older experienced candidate?

When I hear this news yesterday, it sounds to me that there is already a person in their mind, that person is at age of 30-something.

In that Statement, one message is sent to all Singaporeans. That is; the next ten years and two elections will belong to PAP.

The confidence that PAP has, is very telling.

this is just a plan. in another plan, no one knows. chee hian, eng hen, tharman, palmer or anyone else could be the next pm. even low thia kiang or sylvia lim cannot be ruled out. then there is the dark horse pummelling the ground out there.

i am going to start a betting pool, tharman 500:1, chee hian 100:1, eng hen 800:1, low thia kiang and sylvia lim 1m:1

Hi Redbean, I think you better not apply for the job. I think you might be too old. Sorry, no S$3.5 million salary for you.

Dream on Rebean. Do not wake up too soon. Enjoy the dream longer. S$3.5 million is good even in your dream.
