How much does Singapore have?

MAS's foreign reserve is valued at $240 billion. GIC's portfolio is well over $148 billion. And Temasek is worth more than $185 billion. These are numbers as at Sept 08. If there is no overlapping of interest, it works out to an incredible $573 billion! Now what is the latest number given the collapse of the world financial market which has led to many tycoons jumping onto the equivalent of our MRT tracks? Whatever that is left must still be a large number. And this is only those assets that are officially valued.

Before I break out into celebration and laughter at what I hope is a total financial fuck-up on the part of the S'pore govt, I would really like to know HOW MUCH of the stolen goods (aka 'reserves') is still actually on their books.

Singaporeans are very rich. Singapore reserves belong to the people of Singapore. You Singaporeans are so lucky to be so rich. I am sooooo envious.

every singaporean will smile once a month when he/she receives the cpf statement. everyone has a rich account there.

as for this $573b, divide by 2m adults, each adult shall have a theoretical share of $286,000. can they go to a bank and ask for a loan using this as collateral?

if can, then you are right to be envious.

Of course you can. It is your money, so I don't see why you cannot use that as collateral. Singapore reserve belongs to Singaporeans, therefore all Singaporeans are rich.

Anyone, anyway to verify if the numbers published are the actual physical money or just virtual figures? I am not sure, but something I am very sure is, if there is no takers, a price-tag means nothing. It doesn't matter how much you are worth if there is no demand.

the numbers are auditted.

The accounts of the big banks and financial institutions of the west were also audited, but...
