Go forth and multiply...be careful...

The message is loud and clear. Produce as many babies as you can. There are so many perks, goodies and money to be had. So why not, it is like striking lottery. Before the ordinary people get carried away and reopen their child bearing factories, a little caution is warranted. Do not create more miseries. Do not bring children into this world if they are to be deprived of the basics. It is not cheap to bring up children. Unfortunately the unthinking and unable to afford parents will be the one going to produce more, and to perpetuate their miseries as the down and out, producing more waiters and waitresses, more office boys, cleaners and sweepers etc etc People must be responsible to themselves and the children they are bringing into this world. Before they jump in happiness, think again about the future of the children. Can they provide them with enough to live life like normal children?

The naive and the gullible are plentiful. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Until it is too late to regret.

I think if you want to have children you really need to be financially stable. You can't just expect govt bonus etc.

If it was me. Best finanically stable and have a successful career at some stage. Having babies is not easy. Expenses is high.

Have we gone overboard in this baby production programme? Children should be born by parents who love and want them. And for practical reasons, parents should consider the cost to determine how many they can afford. the assistance by the govt is only a fringe benefit and should not be the main factor to have babies.

would some parents go ahead and multiply for some term financial gains but ended up with bigger problems for themselves and their children later?

who is going to caution and speak to the lower income group to think carefully before turning themselves into baby making machines?

10 or 20 years down the road there will be many families with 5 or 6 children but finding themselves in deep shit trying to feed them.

then they will say chenghu said produce babies so we produce lah. now chenghu must look after our babies.

If that case I really want to have a baby! And I dun want to expect Govt bonus etc la. Because I love children and by means if I want to have a baby I want baba to have a good life. Like well fed, can afford to pay for his/her education etc. And also have a lovely home for the baby.

windbreaker,

you are lucky that you can afford it and your baby will be more privileged than others.

it is an implicit message from the gahmen. They only encourage those who can afford it to have as many children as possible.

They are not so keen on the poor making many babies and then extending their hand later and expecting handouts from the gahmen.

Perhaps the gahmen should have a campaign of encouraging those who are well-off to have as many children as possible while urging the poor to exercise restraint.

i think the message was not clear and everyone thinks it is time for the gold rush.

the slogan should be, 'got money produce more, no money produce less'. there must be no mistake on this.

Erh, I think we have already gone a bit overboard, especially the people in mediacorpse. Two of them are taking part and recruiting other parents to attend a forumn on parenting. You believe they have anything worthwhile to teach to those would be parents or just making a killing on the baby making frenzy. Everybody these days seems to be on the same bandwagon.
