are they joking about us?

Has anyone heard what the foreigners were saying about our logic that we need to pay millions to keep our ministers from being corrupt? I heard something, a little, inside the lift. But most of it were drown by the giggling and laughing that followed. What I heard was when would it stop, or something like how much would it be enough? Or is it like a dog chasing after its tail?

You have it wrong, redbean. It is not the "people's" logic, it is the "logic" handed to us by MM Lee and Co.

> "[Y]ou have to pay the market rate or the man will up stakes and join Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers or Goldman Sachs and you would have an incompetent man and you would have lost money by the billions,"

[...]"If you are going to quarrel about S$46 million – up or down another S$10 to S$20 million – I say you don't have a sense of proportion."

[...]"The cure for all this talk is really a good dose of incompetent government... your asset values will disappear, your apartments will be worth a fraction of what it is, your jobs will be in peril, your security will be at risk and our women will become maids in other persons' countries - foreign workers." <

Lee Kuan Yew speaking in Sydney yesterday.

So it's not just "corruption" redbean. Our sweet and innocent gals could end up as indentured labour....

Dun pray, pray... better pay the ministers, lest our women suffer...

Not only are the FT inported into Singapore laughing at us, we have been labeled as the most arrogant people in the world. I ften hear people say " he/she is a Singaporean, what do you expect?" Just look around us at the malls, we are rude without know it, we talk loudly in buses and trains, we cut queues, we spit and litter when no one is looking, we ill-treat our maids......
Can you blame people for laughing at us??

when we are chatting, there will always be the little bias within us because of our upbringing and the info that were fed into our thinking process.

but it will be worst when we have a big vested interest in the issues that we are discussing. we are always, i said always, blinded by our own vested interested and would not be able to see the fault in our own arguments.

that is why man is fallible.
