WASHINGTON: The US will impose "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Thursday (Aug 20), a focus on economic measures he suggested would lessen the need for new major military operations against Tehran.
His statement followed President Donald Trump's threat a day earlier of "Economic Warfare" and warning of economic consequences against any country that provided "any type of lifeline to Iran". CNA
Stammering clown Bessent still thinks the American terrorists can bully the world by coercion, sanctions and tariffs and the use of force. He forgot that the days of unipolar world is now in the past. America is now an island, not the sole empire of the world. And sanctions no longer work.
The mother of all sanctions were thrown at Russia, and what happened? Russia is now much stronger and richer. But the silly European allies and American cronies have to bite the dust. They are the ones that are really sanctioned, not Russia. These silly American allies and cronies are sanctioning themselves. The rest of the world does not need any American or European goods.
The world is used to the American silly game and has developed many ways, options, systems and institutions to bypass the American sanctions. The Americans can sanctions all they like, but the world goes on as if nothing has happened. The only country being sanctioned is the America. The Americans are in effect building walls around themselves, not trading with the world while the world is happily trading among themselves without the Americans.
Soon the world will sanction the use of the American dollar. That will be the day when no one wants to use the dollar except the Americans.

Why is it that no countries dare to sanction US/Israel or break relationship with this 2 rogue country, when they are killing civilian in middle east & south american. Even those who always talk about international rule base order had been silence about the killing. The 2 big power, China is holding back to protect it own interest while Russia is trying to resolve it own problem. While the rest of the world needed the US money or had their dirty laundry in the US/Israel hand. Maybe we need a big natural disaster to hit US/Israel to have some peace on earth.
Scott Bessent ordered USA bond holders not to sell. He also demanded that China dumps Iran. What world is he living in? Bessent still thinks the USA owns the whole world and can order and demand as he likes. Time for bondholders and China to show him their middle finger.
Scott Bessent can order the UK, and also you know who, but his words mean nothing to China. After what happened to Russian assets, many countries are already jittery about who is next. Even Japan, in economic ICU, wants to sell its USA bonds but is being held back by threats from the USA.
Scott Bessent can shout until hoarse, but China will never dump Iran. Iran is a member of BRICS, is one of China's oil suppliers, is now a staunch ally of China geopolitically, is a real-life testing partner for Chinese weapons, and is providing much by way of lessons to China for countering the USA. Why would China want to dump Iran and give the USA and the West the opportunity to criticize BRICS as a flimsy alliance that is breaking up. BRICS does not even see it fit to get rid of India, the USA trojan horse inside BRICS.
Russia and China just tolerated India's presence in BRICS, knowing its loyalty is towards the USA, while the USA is wary of being too harsh on India that might turn the tables for all the years of cultivating India as a counter to China.
Iran has come out to say that any country following the USA's sanctions on Iran will be considered 'an enemy'. China has put its cards on the table. It does not want to be an enemy of Iran, clear and unambiguous. Sanctions without China's participation is becoming meaningless, just like on Russia. So, what is next?
Now, the USA is imposing 50% tariffs on Canada, who has said that it will do the same to USA dollar for dollar. Canada, like China, has already been building bridges with other countries, so it will still survive whatever is the outcome. Canadians are obviously behind its leader, Mark Carney. This can be gauged from Canadians refusing to visit USA earlier on under USA threats.
It can be seen that Canada has backbone and will not succumb to threats by terrorist USA. TACO Trump will back down soon. This is his modus operandi when countries refused to take his nonsense lying down.
When the sanctioner gets sanctioned, the whole world is going to laugh best.
There are 193 countries. Soon the Washington clowns will be sanctioning 190 countries without knowing the effect of this silly act.
