What has become of public housing for the average Singaporeans

Just to add:

Too many times we are been assured that don't worry your flats won't be devalued only up Valued.

They had what's previously SERs aka Selective Estaes Resettlements.

A few selected ones were relocated to their brand new 99 leasehold flats with even some compensations.

Some you be surprised are lucky even had very good payouts in lieu of these Resettlements

So Singaporeans believed that in time to come as their estates grow older and older that their SERs be coming.

Also those flats in the Prime and even Popular Estates are been sold in the open markets by the hundreds of thousands or even at above the million mark.

Where they are been purchased at that time or long ago at a pittance.

So when the HDB were to build any new flats in these estates, they cannot simply sell to the new buyers at their price of their actual costs and also maybe some profits.

They could sell at maybe at our time in the 60s and 70s pricing of even below a one hundred thousand or even less.

This would upset those owners who are now selling at the open market a few hundred thousands nearly a million.

Also those daft daft Ones who thought nothing of these asking prices and also agreed Ed to buy them.

Thinking that they also in time to come shall also made their damn.profits.

So the HDB have no choice as they are the ones in the first place had slaughter the old owners exorbitant prices.

Now the new flats that they build and squeeze in all these estates have to be priced also at the resale marker pricing.

The old owners happy happy that their units are still profitable but the new BTO buyers have to pay a limb and arse to purchase their first homes.

It's a vicious circle unless Ahem something drastic really happen and all these started crumbling down.

Now back to the Papies Scholars Bright Bright idea and scheme.

They are caught in a bind as too many of their Past Big mouths Leaders who just wanted to win the voters in any elections promised SERs

So one fine day, they have to get a newbie Leader or Minister to wake you all up with their pouring of the cold water that there is no such scheme as SERs now.

Anyway, aha hear me out. Now we have VERs.

Ahem Voluntary Estates Resettlements.

Your old Estates will be also selected for Resettlements as too old also hard maintenance and also last time many many had low ratio of real wasted occupationcy.

Too low storeys blocks on prime land.

Also, poor souls blocks too far from each other that your immediate neighbour cannot borrow the salt and vinegar and eggs by just passing through the windows to windows.

Now we planned so social living harmony for you all that you all staying in close intimate proximity as close neighbours that no need to purposely have to go and buy the emergency groceries downstairs.

Okay back to our ingenious VERs scheme.

Now when you are been selected for VERs, don't worry you be still having a new nice flat as according to what you are staying now in all requirements and specifications.

But see here hoh!, if your old flat lease is already too run out ah, like tooth decay you have to patch up right?

So now we shall allocated a new flat for you. But, but hear me out you have to TOP up the lease of your balance old one if you still wants to have a 99 year leasehold.

Aiya, don't worry lah only a few hundred thousands lah depending in what's you selected.

Next time you could even sell at the open market a million plus what!

So this is the NEW scheme of VERs my fellow Singaporeans.

However under this VERs there is an escape clause or exit that Sinkies could exercise to avoid this pitfall.

VERs aka VOLUNTARY Estates Resettlements.

So in order to relocate all, a Vote of consent must be obtained by the old flatowners.

So the only way is to vote"NO".

But anyway, there are bound to have unthinking and kia see, kia soo ones who voted"Yes".

They dont mind to top up a few hundred thousands to get their new flats.

Also, especially those younger ones who could in a way afford of to them no difference new BTOs also at these terms and prices.

Also, not to worry, the Papies scholars are paid to "keng" and they will find to close this loophole.
