”Is it true that Singapore has no serious problems?”

镇龙大叔 (aka Uncle Chua Chin Ling/ Redbean):”Is it true that Singapore has no serious problems?”

镇龙大叔,你好!

你问: ”新加坡是不是没什么严重(或”大条”)的问题?”

说实话,还真有(而且很”大条”)!

Earlier this year in parliament, DPM GKY spoke about Sg facing an "existential problem" ...

TFR (2025) PLUMMETED to 0.87!

In 2013, our beloved founding PM LKY(国父李光耀)published his last book (One Man's View of the World). In the Singapore chapter, founding PM LKY lamented that our Singaporean core will be halved in one generation if our TFR remains unchanged (in 2013, Sg's TFR was about 1.21). At that time PM3 was in charge (and his "personal TFR" was 4.0) holding helm for almost 21 years in all (Aug 2004 - May 2024).

PM4 now in his 3rd year is facing an existential Sg threat of 0.87 TFR ... (NOT sure what is PM4's "personal TFR", anybody knows?) ...

Have you ever wonder assuming PM4 serves as long as PM3 at the top, by 2043, what would Sg's TFR be?

If this problem is NOT serious ("事情大条”),what is?

RB, you tell me lah!

Regards,
小弟Leo81

I guess you are just ignorance, PAP had been harping that we are an immigration country since Lky time. That why stop at 2 policies was implemented so as to get rip of low quality population. Remember LKY even said graduate who marry graduate, will produce better quality children. So you should know why flood gate are opened for new foreigner to become citizen by the thousand every years. G have to appear (wayang)to the citizen that they are clearly concern about the declining local born. They are only concern about the GDP pie not able to grow bigger if they reduce immigration.

I beg to disagree. Even two distinguished doctors, I think if I remember correctly, also produced less endowed children. There are precedents and you can look them up.

It is not that only highly educated parents can produce bright children. That is a fallacy and the example of the two distinguished doctors prove my point. Some parents never had the opportunity to go to university but probably have intelligence that were never realized.

Singapore's most serious problem is not paying their top elites well enough. Now they cannot afford to buy GCBs with their miserable pay.

How much is enough? I guess now even trillionaires will tell you not enough. They want to become quadrillionaires now.
