An article published in Asia Times on the role the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) can play in Taiwan was written by a national service pre-enlistee.
The Ministry of Defence said on Jan 24 that the author, Siddharath Bhowmick, had written the article in his personal capacity prior to his enlistment, adding that the views he had expressed do not represent MINDEF or the SAF in any way.
The article, which was published online on Jan 19, had presented Siddharath Bhowmick as someone currently serving in the SAF
In the article, the author said: “Singapore must leverage its military ties with Taiwan in cross-strait discussions to help de-escalate China-Taiwan relations.”
He argued that Project Starlight – a defence arrangement between Singapore and Taiwan – stands as a critical element in Singapore-Taiwan defence relations, “offering a robust deterrent against sudden acts of aggression from the mainland – even if it does not match security assurances provided by the US’ Taiwan Relations Act”.

Good morning All,
Long ago when LKY and Teng Siao Ping are on the Best of Realtions, China out of goodwill and recropcrity allowed our SAF to train and also joined Miltary Exercises with the Taiwanese as they knew our Dire environment at that time with unstablities in our region and also our lack of land mass for Miltary Exercises and training.
Also KMT was in charge!
Then when the DPP took over China still turned a blind eye as LKY was still around and Realtionships were still cordial.
The next few successors after LkY was questionable as they leaned too much to the UAssA and China were also facing tense Realtions with the UAss.
Worse they were also more "chiao gay" against China and in a way antagonise China.
Then still took for granted that China is still okay with our joint exercises with the Taiwanese as now the DPP is also more aggressive against China.
The worse is that we also have our own kuching kurap some. Miltary Wares and thought we could like the Americunts made some sales with them in the World's Market.
So we even despatched them to the Taiwanese soil and have joint exercises with them.
To the PRCs, it meant that in your exercises, definitely there would be sorts of attacks and defend scenarios and in a way you are also collaborating with the Taiwanese the Miltary tactics in case of Wars the Art of war killing our soldiers.
Worse with your Miltary Wares if brought by the Taiwanese.
So still like the Americunts thought that the situation is still status questionable and not aware ot pretended Not to know of any unhappiness or not by China.
So, China to show their unhappiness just simply seized Sinkeland's Miltary Scraps in HK to signifify their unhappiness.
China still leaves a leeway for Sinkieland to have this slap lesson by having them seized in HK rather than in their China's ports prior to HK.
As HK had their jurisdictions more or less the Western Administration whist theirs in China is different.
The outcome of the seizure in.the China's Courts of Laws may be harsh and then severed the Realtionships with us totally.
Whilst in HK may be just some penalities and warnings etc.
So Sinkeland's Leaders should wise up and not took for granted that we
Could be excused of been naive.
Actually frankly in Shipping Practices transhipment cargoes not meant for discharged or transhipped from any other ports of calls does not really need to declare for that particular port of call.
But China purposely took the opportunity to simply said that you have not the declared the said Military Wares on board.
They knew that prior before to HK then back to Singapore the ship called at Xiamen or Daolian.
So we are let off with fines.
In China's ports think Confiscations
They don't want to burn bridges.
Also that vessel is APL American President Line which China seen as an eyesore.
The cargo could be seen on board as these are U/C aka Uncontainerised cargo that could not be under the hatches.
So this guy as usual you know the shits stirrer of Western Vultures, oops Cultures and Superiority wanted to stir some shits of wedges between Sinking Land and China.
Correction here the situation is still Status QUO and not questionable
