thesaker: Why pick on China?

'I think that it is fair to say that these are all clear signs that the Empire of Hate and Lies has now declared total war on Russia, just short of overtly actually attacking Russian forces or Russia, of course. In fact, Russia and the Empire of Hate and Lies have been at war since at least 2013, and Russia had to make many concessions to the Empire simply because from 2013-2021 Russia did not have:

A military that could take on NATO and win. She does now.
The kind of advanced strategic deterrence systems (nuclear and conventional) she now has.
A stabilized southern axis (Middle-East, Caucasus, Central Asia) from which no threat can realistically come.
A legal case to justify the decision to openly intervene in the Ukraine
A society that would not crumble under the tremendous pressure of US PSYOPS
A society in which the 5th columnists, the 6th columnists, and the Atlantic Integrationist have been pretty much totally discredited.
An economy that could survive the kind of total economic war unleashed nowadays
A system of alliances Russia could count on (remember Lukashenko’s and Nazarbayev’s “multipolarity” of the mid-20s?)
Large enough stores of advanced weapons for a long campaign
The real and full support of China'

What should we expect?

'Sooner or later, the delusional and ignorant psychopaths which run the Empire of Hate and Lies will come to realize that far from breaking Russia, they committed collective economic, political, social, moral, spiritual, and, of course, military suicide and they will be left with *nothing* else to do that try a desperate military provocation. I hope that I am wrong, but I don’t see how the united West could de-escalate from the corner it painted itself into.

Both the USA and the EU are run not by individuals, but by a class (in the Marxist sense of the word) which we can conceptually call the “1%ers”. One percent seems small, but in the USA 1% is over 3 MILLION people, and in the EU this is almost 4,5 MILLION people. Throw in colonies like Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and others and we can see that it is reasonable to assume that there are about 10’000’000 very rich and very powerful people out there who want to see Russia dead and gone forever.

These people will NEVER be voted out of power. Oh sure, here and there, for a while, some will lose an election and an outsider might be voted in, but that is what economic sanctions are for: to punish those nations which vote for the “wrong” candidate (like Hungary just did).'

'We are 41 days into this horror and the end is nowhere near in sight, and remember that the real objective of Russia and China is not “just” to disarm and denazify the Nazi-occupied Ukraine, it is to completely change the European collective security architecture which, in turn, is the cornerstone of the Empire of Lies worldwide. This will most probably take several years unless the coming economic crisis is even much worse than I expect it to be (in my total ignorance of economic topics).

Conclusion:

The Empire of Lies already understands that it lost Banderastan, so it executed the Bucha massacre to change the narrative and trigger a TOTAL “Cancel Russia” war. The WWII Nazis used the term “final solution” and that is what the Bucha false flag signals: the decision by Uncle Shmuel to achieve a “final solution” to the “Russian problem”.

This is the West’s way to signal that it too is now entering into its own 2nd phase of the war.'

Not only were the Russians bidding their time to build up their military power since 2013, they were also building up support as well on the economic front, particularly with China.

Russia now has no great fear of the USA in a military confrontation, unlike the position it was in in 2013. Russia also has little to fear from economic sanctions as it is a country that has enough resources like energy, food, minerals, and above all China is watching it's backyard.

Russia may now demand payments of all their exports in Ruble, even if the situation in Ukraine is settled. And Russia will do trade deals all bypassing the US$ and Euro. This will continue to undermine the US$ Hegemony. Think what this means if sanctions were to target China like against Russia after this. There will not be much left of the US$ Hegemony.

The EU and NATO in tandem can boycott Russian energy exports altogether, but that has already been figured in Putin's plan with China to absorb the exports to Europe, with India now lending a useful helping hand as a bonus. The Europeans are digging their own grave and falling into it if they completely boycott Russian oil and gas.

There are big customers in the East for oil, gas and coal, that can easily replace the Europeans. The Europeans can follow the grand plan of starting to import oil and gas from the USA, from little mice (the UK) and a reluctant Middle East. Incidentally, many missions from Europe have been to the Middle East to source for more supplies, but all have returned empty handed. Sure, there were thinly veiled worded support of increasing supplies by the Middle East producers, but nothing concrete to show.

Oil and gas increase in production is not a matter of switching on a tap and get instant supply, like water. There is the question of more investments needed, time and cost involved to increase production. That is not even touching on the investments needed to turn liquified gas in usable form in Europe. And time is not on the side of the Europeans as winter is only a matter of months away.

Who would now want to take the risk of building pipelines to Europe after what happened to NORD Stream 2? There are always consequences to doing certain things that can backfire badly if not considered properly.

Now NATO is evidently unable to sustain their weapons support for Ukraine and is turning to other less involved countries to chip in to support Ukraine.

Zelensky's pleas to NATO for more weapons to fight the war is clear evidence that NATO is not able to fulfil it's weapons supply pledge. The energy shortage and rationing in Germany is probably one factor that is causing the weapons crisis in NATO. That is a choice that must be bearing on the leaders in NATO - the people's interest first or Ukraine's need.

The longer the war drags on, which the USA is hoping looking at their cheerleader role, the more difficult life will be for NATO countries, rulers and the ruled alike. The Russians are well known for fighting long wars against Hitler and Napoleon. NATO can try it out once again with the Russians, like the Nazis, and see what happens.

'The latest venture in unreality these days spills out of Russia’s operation in Ukraine. The mind-fuckery over it sure seems advantageously amplified here as a cover for the tragic developments in the Covid-19 vaxx melodrama and other domestic torments. All the evidence suggests that our country’s leadership wanted this war to happen in the worst way. We set up the provocations in Donbas and let’er rip. Now we posture on the sidelines, crying crocodile tears, pretending to help while sabotaging peace talks.

What’s followed in our attempts to punish The Evil Putin (the source of all our problems) is the most feckless fiasco of unanticipated consequences since Kaiser Wilhelm gave the go-ahead to Austria to punish Serbia over the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. Voila: a World War. Only in this case it’s looking more like a suicidal economic war by Western Civ on itself.

How are those sanctions working out? No fuel for German industry… no fertilizer for Iowa farmers… no nickel and other metals to make machine parts for Europe and America…. And suddenly, having kicked Russia out of the international trade payment clearing system (SWIFT), we’ve provoked them to resort to backing the ruble with gold, meaning that our broke-down Bretton Woods fiat money system becomes the new “barbarous relic” of global finance, leaving the West to pound sand down a rat hole, while the other two-thirds of the world do actual business for commodities that modern life can’t do without.'

Better hope Red Dot got onto the life raft and not go down with the sinking USS Titanic.

Olaf Scholz is saying that Germany can totally cut off it's dependence on Russian oil and gas by end of this year.

Now, who is he trying to kid and what is he smoking? Why did Angela Merkel initiated the construction of NORD stream 2 and not the Russians, if it was so easy to replace Russian oil and gas supplies from elsewhere? And that was despite all the objections by the USA?

Sure, Olaf Schulz can buy oil and gas from the USA, UK or Middle East, but at what kind of price is Germany going to pay? And for how long? The whole German economy will collapse with him by the time they put all the infrastructures in place to receive liquified gas, and build enough LNG ships to carry those oil and gas from across the Atlantic to Germany.

Rumour has it that:

'Persistent rumors that Lieutenant General of the United States Army Roger L. Cloutier, Jr., taken prisoner in Mariupol, are gaining ground. Reports about this went with a link to the well informed portal of American veterans, Veterans Today, and were picked up by many Internet resources. However, the Pentagon still responds to all inquiries from journalists about the capture of an American general in Ukraine with silence, which does not fit into its typical pattern of behavior.'

Was this the asset the Ukrainians were trying to extricate at all cost from Mariupol with the loss of five helicopters and multiple crews on board?

No smoke without fire. When the Russians put his face in the media, silence is not useful any more. Then the question becomes what was he doing over there. On holiday? Doing health checks on those health facilities?

War in Ukraine: Separating truth from falsehood
Tommy Koh

"... Singapore has been quite consistent in condemning Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia, the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan and the US invasion of Grenada. ... "

https://www.straitstimes.com/opinion/not-pro-west-pro-china-pro-ukraine-or-pro-russia-just-pro-singapore
Not pro-West, pro-China, pro-Ukraine or pro-Russia, just pro-Singapore
Drop the tendency to polarise issues into pro- or anti-something. Just view foreign policy issues through Singapore lenses.

Chua Mui Hoong
PUBLISHED APR 1, 2022, 5:00 AM SGT

... Protecting Singapore's sovereignty has meant taking a stand against those who invade others in contravention of international law: So Singapore took a stand against the United States' invasion of Grenada at the UN General Assembly in 1983. It also opposed Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia from December 1978 to 1989.

As Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is Coordinating Minister for National Security, said in a recent interview: "Our 1983 vote against the US did not mean that we were an adversary of the US. The US was a close friend and continues to be so; but we still had to express our disagreement."

In a similar way, we voted against the invasion of Cambodia, but this did not mean that we endorsed the Khmer Rouge regime. In fact, we opposed what the Khmer Rouge did to its own people. But we could not accept that one country can invade another." ...

All of the above-cited invasions were of the Cold War era.

What about the post-Cold War (post-1991) invasions, subsequent to the dissolution of the Soviet Union ?
Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, .... ?!?

Tommy Koh and his ilks are telling half truths. Did he and Singapore condemn the United States and its European allies for their brutal invasions of Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia and Yemen. Also did he and Singapore condemn US inhuman sadistic sanctions on many poor third world countries like Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Necaragua, Cambodia and many more others.

Please stop thinking that the people will ever believe in so-called leaders' hogwash and hubris. Real disgusting

If Ukraine is winning the war against Russia according to the MSM, why is Boris Johnson calling for an end to the hostilities? If Ukraine is in fact winning the war, would the USA, NATO and the UK not be pushing the Ukrainians to evict the Russians from Eastern Ukraine? Why call for an end to the war when they are holding the advantage?

The biggest lie they are trying to cover their arse is that NATO is running out of weapons to send to Ukraine, with Zelensky pleading desperately to NATO to send more replenishments.

When they opened their mouths, they destroyed their own credibility, integrity and reputation.

Why don't they just shut up and people would forget about them?

Or were they told to say something, and ended up looking silly?
