Many Singaporeans are
unaware of the strange sounding scheme devised by the Immigration
officials from the Home Affairs Ministry.

Minister K Shanmugam explained in Parliament in February this year that
those allowed to enter under the scheme include those “reuniting SCs and
PRs with their foreign family members or spouses-to-be who may
otherwise be stranded overseas.
Under this scheme, non-residents may also seek entry to Singapore for compassionate reasons such as family bereavements.
The
powerful and impressive double port-folio Minister had given an
impression that such a scheme is strictly controlled, and entry is
confined to only the very minimum necessary.
If the scheme
applies to family members and “spouses-to-be”, and those of urgent
needs, why then allowed a Vietnamese (hostess) sponsored by her
"boyfriend" to enter Singapore under the Familial Ties Lane?
Enabling
boyfriends (or pimps) to bring in their foreign girlfriends (or
prostitues) to work in KTV nightclubs during a pandemic, when entry
rules are being tightened, may be seen as an incongruous and
contradictory action / policy. It certainly makes the Familial Ties Lane
looks like a Backlane. Isn't it?
To our common sense, the case
of a Vietnamese "girlfriend" (or prostitue) entering Singapore to work
as hostess in a KTV nightclub, sponsored by her Singapore "boyfriend"
(or pimp) is a clear abuse of the scheme. This has to be checked.
Does
the left hand of the law (Ministry of Law) knows the right hand of law
(Ministry of Home Affairs) in the implementation of this scheme?

Wearing two big jobs at same time makes a person, no matter how capable he maybe, shoddy.
Most of the time, there will be conflicts of interests.
Very often, there will be slip shots.
Sometimes, there will be big cockups.
This Immigration failure to check and police the KTVs, nightclubs, bars and lounges where hanky panky and sleazy activities are going on, is one of the slip shots and cockups.
Why no MPs got the balls to question Shanmugam about this in Parliament? Instead, wasting Parliament time by asking insignificant and childish questions on the CECA Debate?
I really don't understand why Shanmugam continues to carry the responsibilities of two ministries for so long. What is it that he wants to prove?

It's the same with rental of cooked food stalls..does sfa know how many thousands of absentee renters there are.. do they know the amount of money that changed hands because original tenants suddenly become landlord of their stalls? It should be written into the Constitution that no Minister could hold 2 portfolios, and no Minister could hold a portfolio for more than one term - just like Presidential one-term tenure eg in the Philippines; also, male Ministers must have served NS.
Y allowed this millionaire politician here to hold two important and sensitive portfolios for such a loong, loong time ? I rmbr civil servants are NOT allowed to stay at the same post and departments for a loong time for obvious reason/s that they make connections with outsiders, and perhaps, hidden corruptions may happen. Foreign workers are sponsored by employers when they come to work here. Assuming those are 'essential workers' doing construction work or environmental related reasons, what possible reasons does the Government have to consider that KTV hostesses are essential services? Essential to work as 'comfort women' to cater to foreigners or 'Chi Kor Peks'? The reason that rape case will rise if these women are not allowed to provide such 'essential' services is a moot point. Heavy punishment, caning and repatriation without being able to re-enter Singapore will take care of that, unless the CECA agreements forbid such punishment.
If this continues, soon, we will become from gambling to the sex hub of ASEAN. Going from first world to third is not that far fetched after all.
Without KTV, Singapore would become a much more boring place. Rather those that gave us pleasure than those that steal our livelihood !
So, now we can confirm that KTV are indeed providing the 'illicit activities'. Straight from the horse's mouth. Not what the Government thinks as F & B outlets. Is the Government really unaware or just pretend to fall down, now that this is causing a widespread outbreak of COVID19, spreading to Jurong Fish Port and onwards to so many markets all over the Island.

The outlook is not good. Fishmongers work only in the morning and they have the whole afternoon and evening off, so where do they go? Elsewhere they go like malls they may wear mask, but at KTV lounges it is freedom of expression even to share microphones, which you can imagine what happens when one infected person uses it and share the virus with others.

With so many markets involved, this time it is really serious. In the aftermath of the rapidly-growing KTV cluster involving Vietnamese hostesses in Singapore, which has 120 known cases linked to it as of Friday, individuals originating from the country have become the subject of scrutiny from the public.
Jolin Dang, a woman in the process of taking up Singapore citizenship, took to Facebook on Friday (16 July) alleging that a Grab driver had subjected her to “ill-judged” questions en route to the Embassy of Vietnam.
Noting that she had taken the ride from her office, Ms Dang said that the driver had asked her if she was Vietnamese, to which she replied in the affirmative, as she found “no reason” to deny her country of origin.
She said that she was initially “under the impression that the driver was trying to be nice to me” as someone who was perusing his e-hailing service.
“Besides, I am used to being asked by the drivers where I came from too since I can speak fluently in English and Chinese, another language. And I don’t sound like Local,” said Ms Dang.
What took her aback, however, was when the driver asked her if she was working in a KTV.
“I assume he must be supposedly aware of the fact that he picked me up at an office estate, not elsewhere in the middle of the road side. Moreover, I was wearing formal office wear, not an outing outfit, so I absolutely could not find one reason to sympathize with his question,” she said.

Our first Prime Minister, Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, during his tenure as the PM, did not even allow one particular person to hold any important appointment. Let alone a ministerial position. That person was put in a back-bencher, ordinary MP position for at least ten years. From 1988 to 2005?
Yet today, one person has been trusted so much until he has been allowed to hold two very important, sensitive and powerful ministerial positions concurrently! Not only that, he has also been allowed to hold the two positions for such a long period of time continuously, while other ministers have all been reshuffled and rotated, some even moved three or four times.
Unbelievable! Shocking! Even sickening! Someone is very sick?
It just doesn't make any sense. Something is definitely not right. What is it? Someome has been unduly influenced into submission, under duress?
For the purpose of national security and national interests, the two important, sensitive and powerful positions should never be held by one person. Period.
From common sense, having one person controlling the Attorney General's Chambers, the Judiciary and the Overall Legal System, combined with the Police Force, the police intelligence unit, CID, internal security, customs and immigration is too risky and dangerous because that one person will become too powerful. When the two ministries are combined into one hand, that hand becomes an indestructible iron hand. And the person who owns that iron hand becomes the indestructible Iron Man.
A wise Prime Minister would never allowed such a thing to happen.
A wise Prime Minister would immediately suspect something is amiss if one of his ministers even uttered, suggested or wished to be given any of the two powerful ministries. Let alone both of them.
A wise Prime Minister would rather have two separate persons, unconnected by relations or business, to head the two powerful ministries separately, for the simple reason that he can draw upon two persons for advice instead of only one, in times of need. Thereby giving him the availability and option of a second opinion, instead of one that might be faulty, inappropriate or even sinister. Therefore, detrimental to his Premiership, National Security or the Citizens' interests.
If it has already happened, the wise Prime Minister does not need to think hard and long in order to remedy the situation and put it back into proper perspective, in his personal interests and in the interests of the people, the country and the Nation!
So, think wisely and act prudently.

Usually, I do not respond lengthily to a nameless, unidentifiable, anonymous post. But today, I will make an exception for the benefits of the other readers. Here goes:
Singapore had just got its independence on 9 August 1965.
6 Oct, 1965 was barely two months from the day of independence. We just had a racial riot in 1964. Racial tensions were still very much alive and kicking.
PM Lee Kuan Yew had not even warmed up his seat yet.
The Singapore Armed Forces was not even thought of yet.
Two battalions of the Malaysian Army were stationed in Singapore.
The Malaysian Navy was based in Singapore.
The Brigadier incharge of the Malaysian Armed Forces in Singapore at that time had "offered" himself as PM Lee Kuan Yew's "personal body guard".
There was also the fear of the Communist dominoe theory painted out by the Western Imperialists, especially the US that was still fighting in Vietnam in order to check the Communists advance into Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
Communism was on the rise at that time. Many countries have been influenced by the communist ideology and Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos had fallen into Communists' hands.
Moreover, the British permitted Singapore to have its independence on the condition that it does not fall into the hands of the Communist. The communists elements in Singapore at that time were mainly Chinese.
That was the situation and context in which the newly independent Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew spoke.
At that time. to be seen as championing for any one ethnic group, especially the Chinese who had a majority of about 84% of the population, would be asking for troubles.
In today's context, there is a clear and definite threat to the existence and survival of the Chinese Majority in Singapore. Therefore, the Chinese ethnic group, if it is worth its salts, should and must stand up to defend the group at all costs. Because if the Unity of the Chinese Majority in Singapore is shakened by the influence of external subversive elements or internal collaborators, then the power base of the ruling political party in Singapore will be weakened and the downfall of the present Singapore government will be certain and imminent.
As such, the situation today is in reverse to the situation in 1965, 56 years ago.
I, therefore, urge you to understand the context in which a speech or conversation was made before you quote it. Otherwise, you might quote it out of the situational context.

On 7 July, the New England Journal of Medicine published a report on the Sinovac experience in Chile from Feb to May 2021 looking at 4.2 million fully vaccinated people compared to 5.5 million unvaccinated residents. Sinovac was found to reduce Covid-19 infection by 65.9% , reduce hospitalization by 87.5%,, reduce ICU admission by 90.3% and reduce deaths by 86.3% (Effectiveness of an Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine in Chile.
The Isreal Ministry of Health has also pointed out recently that the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 infection was 64%, although it was still 93% effective against hospitalization and serious illness.
Therefore there is not much difference between the Sinovac and Pfizer vaccines in actual practical use. Both are very effective at preventing severe disease and hospitalization, but less effective against mild or asymptomatic Covid-19.
The main difference now is the cost of the two vaccines for the same effectiveness. Pfizer is several times more expensive than Sinovac.
Singapore still insists that it does not have enough data on Sinovac so cannot be used in its national problem. What kind of asses would act so foolishly thinking they are very smart?

HSA will complete evaluation of additional data on Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine in 4 to 6 weeks
China's Sinovac has submitted more data about its Covid-19 jab to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), which is currently in the midst of reviewing the vaccine for use here.
HSA told The Straits Times on Thursday (July 15) that it had received the data from Sinovac on July 5 and will give an update following evaluation.
"HSA is conducting a careful and thorough review of the additional data, and aims to complete evaluation in four to six weeks. HSA will provide an update once a regulatory decision is made," said an HSA spokesman.
The Sinovac vaccine, which is not included in Singapore's national vaccination programme, has shown variable protection across multiple studies carried out internationally, with the most complete analysis showing an efficacy of 51 per cent.
In contrast, the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty Covid-19 vaccines, which are both part of Singapore's national vaccination programme, have shown an efficacy rate of around 90 per cent.
The Sinovac vaccine is currently being administered in Singapore under the Special Access Route in order to enhance overall vaccination coverage. As at July 3, 17,296 people here have received one dose of the Sinovac vaccine.
HSA said that Sinovac submitted the Pandemic Special Access Route application for its vaccine to the HSA in December last year.
In March 2021, after evaluating submitted data, HSA sought additional data from Sinovac to continue its assessment. Sinovac made that submission in July.
Individuals who have received the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine will not be exempted from pre-event testing, according to the Ministry of Health.
Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has previously said that people who have received the Sinovac Covid-19 jab continue to be excluded from perks such as testing exemptions, as there is insufficient data to show how effective the Chinese jab is against the Delta strain, which is a more infectious variant of Covid-19.

Out of the 88. 23 from the KTV cluster and 37 from the Jurong Fishery Port cluster (assumption) which comprises fishmongers in 11 separate wet markets across Singapore. The KTV nightclubs cluster has risen to at least 152 cases, and counting because some of them are untraceable.
17 of the new cases of infection are currently unlinked.
In addition, there are 4 new happily imported cases. Oonly one was detected upon arrival in Singapore. The other three were detected after entering Singapore. If they had not develope the symptoms during SHN, nobody would be the wiser. And they could easily go around to spread the disease to other people innocently and unknowingly. This is what living with the COVID Pandemic is all about. Just change the term and call it Endemic instead. So easy. Like magic!
According to last night’s press release, 196 cases are currently warded in hospital. This is living dangerously with the COVID.
There are currently five cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and one in critical condition in the ICU. This is called dying with the COVID.

Sinovac efficacy only 51%, Pfizer 90%. Never mind if the British Medical Journal confirmed that the efficacy of both are about the same. So, British Medical Journal experts also inferior, cannot be trusted by our experts.
The truth is that China is using Sinovac and the country is free of covid19 while UK, US and Europe all using Pfizer and the virus is spreading like wildfire and growing. 90% efficacy's result is like that, and 51% efficacy is free of virus and still refused to trust Sinovac.
