There was an article in the ST by Goh Sui Noi, Singapore's China correspondence on the worsening relations between China and the USA with the latter acting more aggressively and madly to want to push China to the brink of war. Trump and his mad dog Pompeo have been going around the world to egg nations to form an alliance against China in a new cold War. Not many silly nations have stood up to join this destruction adventure of the warmongering Americans. Only the die hard 5 eye nations of Anglo Saxon breed were left to carry on this dangerous pursuit for war.
In the same article the correspondence mentioned that it was worrisome that the Americans are selling F16 fighter jets to Taiwan and more weapons including cruise missiles. How worrisome is this development is complicated by the deep intrique in the relationship between Taiwan and China. Are the difference unbridgeable, real or just for show? Even if it is for real, the leadership can change after an election of the Presidency and a pro China could make a 180 degree change in the policy towards China and unification.
When such an eventuality happens, it could happen any time, everything the Americans sold to Taiwan would become China's. Oooops, I shouldn't say this to frighten the Americans from selling more advanced weapons and technology to Taiwan. Actually nothing to worry about this. The Americans know very well that this could happen and whatever they sold to Taiwan would be obsolete weapons and technology or modified and downgraded to prevent the loss of their technology to Taiwan.
F16s are ancient technology as far as war planes are concerned. Even F15s can be regarded as antique when China is having the 4th and 5th generation fighter jets in J20s and J31s. The F15s and F16s would be up there to be shot down if needed. But the Americans are only prepared to sell only the F16s, not even the F15s. This explains why Taiwan is not going to get any more advanced new weapons and technology from the Americans. The Americans know that Taiwan would be part of China as a matter of time and would not be foolish enough to do silly things.
The selling of F16s is just a token, for show and to get some foreign exchange. China would be quietly hoping that the Americans would offer more advanced weapons to Taiwan when they could easily lay their hands on them. There is nothing worrisome to China in the sale of F16s or advanced weapons to Taiwan. China would be the final beneficiary of this technology transfer.
What is real or unreal is not easy to fathom in international relations and in China Taiwan relations when both sides are Chinese. The white men do not trust Chinese, not even Taiwanese.

The extreme China hawks in Trump admin knew that they're likely to be ousted out of US government after the November elections with an anticipated Biden presidential victory, so they're trying to push through as many anti-China measures as possible before they lose the power to do so.
The US sees Japan as a qualified ally to be a "sixth" eye in the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance. But the Americans doesn't see Singapore in the same light as the island state is Chinese-majority and hence there's a trust deficit.
Japan lately, since Abe became the Japanese PM, has been planning to develop the capability of pre-emptive strikes on enemy bases. This means Japan has already totally disregarded the UN and US imposition that Japanese Military is for Defence purposes only.
If Japan is still harbouring the doctrine of pre-emptive strikes (Operation Pearl Harbour - Tora, Tora, Tora), one day it will not only strike China and North Korea, it will also strike USA's bases again.
However, if Japan really goes ahead with the development of this forward strikes capability (which could include nuclear capability) then it gives China, Russia and North Korea a very good excuse/reason to destroy Japan before Japan could destroy their bases.

Covid-19 Vaccine Diplomacy
"The Philippines will accept an offer for a pending Russian coronavirus vaccine once a supply becomes available," said President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, after he requested for China's help in providing the vaccine for free last week.
Duterte also offered himself as a guinie pig for the Russian-made vaccine.
"I'll volunteer to take it in public, I'll be the first to be experimented on. I'm very happy because Russia is our friend. They said they will give the vaccine."
Duterte openly thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for the offer and hope that Russia will give the vaccine free of charge.
However, both China and Russia have not indicated that the supply of vaccine would be free.
He also said that the US would have charged the Philippines for the vaccine if they ever have one produced.
This is an obligue hint to the US, Russia and China to provide free vaccines to the Pinoys without strings attached. Very smooth.

India is thinking they can be No. 2 in the world, and No. 1 in Asia. They are strutting their stuff openly now, acting like the deputy sheriff poking at China, knowing the evil empire is behind them. The world order is not permanently cast in stone. Empires wax and wane throughout the centuries. Empires fall for many reasons, all different, all thought they will be there forever. Betting on the wrong horse could be dangerous.
But, like the USA, COVID19 has not yet done it's work yet in India. Indians should not go around throwing stones at China when they are still unable to do the necessary in their shit country. Was the posturing just to distract the problem in their backyard, like the USA?
The fact that Iran has now close ranks with China is a sore point that the Indians cannot swallow, after losing out on projects to China which they had intended to do in Iran. Iran know India is close to the US. So, in Iran's context, the friend of my enemy is not my friend.
The US can sanction Iran all they like, but sooner or later it will still be a nuclear state somehow, just like North Korea. Sanctions will make them even more determined. Iran will not fall so soon or go back to the stone age arising from the sanctions. The US has been sanctioning Cuba (supported by the USSR and now Russia), and Cuba has not gone back to the stone age.
The more enemies the US make, the more there will be those who will do business with the sanctioned country, especially nuclear states like Russia and China. These are not easily cowed states like Iraq or Libya.
Would Russia stand idly by and wait for the US to come to their doorstep and thereby threatening them on another front as with NATO? Certainly not!
