That is why the US is so afraid that it has resorted to demonize renewable energy research and usage, putting obstacles and heavy tariffs on solar panels from China, making all sorts of claims that dams built by China for hydro power generation is causing harm to other countries ecology, and even threatening it's own citizens if they buy electric vehicles and making ridiculous suggestions that windmills are killing birds.
But now they know worldwide renewable energy usage to challenge the oil trade hegemony cannot be stopped unilaterally just at home, because the US cannot stop the transition in other countries. The fact that China is exporting so many electric vehicles all over the world is a sign that fossil fuel usage is declining in many areas and thus infringing on the importance of the US$ hegemony.

China's is going very fast in creating renewable energy. Just dams alone, China has built not 100, not 1,000, not 10,000 but 87,000 dams in rivers in China. The volume of electricity generated by these dams is equivalent to all the electricity used by the Brazil, USA and Canada combined.
China is also going big in electric vehicle with a target to have only electric vehicles in China in the next 20 or 30 years.

It came at about the same time as US President Donald Trump himself threatened to postpone the 2020 presidential election, you know, the one for the most powerful office in the world, not just a mere city election somewhere in Asia.
The president has long predicted, as early as 2016, that this US election in November will be rigged, and has hinted he may not concede if he loses. Well, I don’t know if it will be rigged or fair. I am not American and it’s not my business.

I do know something about the politics of my own city. Just before you accuse me of “whataboutism” for the umpteenth time, I refer you to my previous column explaining why Hong Kong’s own election postponement is not only justified, but absolutely necessary.
All I am saying here is, why can’t America just shut up about us, please? On elections, police tactics, governance and everything else, the US has no moral authority to tell anyone else what to do.
Are Hong Kong police brutal, abusive and corrupt? Maybe by some other countries’ or international standards. But compared to US cops, really! At least ours don’t play soldiers with heavy weapons. Last week, a New York Times editorial said: “Federal agents don’t need army fatigues … If you’re an officer of the law, dress like one.”
