A taxi driver shared this funny but sad encounter during one of his
trips from Singapore's iconic Marina Bay Sands to their condominium.
"One day I fetch a well dressed lady with her son in my taxi from MBS to their condo.
The lady told her son "You better study hard and go to University. Or else you will end up driving a taxi like this uncle."
I reply, "Excuse me madam, I actually got a law degree from University of London. But I like to fetch people home."
The boy said "Cool, when I grow up I want to be like uncle."
The lady said "Son, today we took the wrong taxi."

It is good that the taxi driver clarified to the mother that driving
taxis is an honourable job even for a law graduate. And it can be a
passion like this law graduate, to love driving people home. In fact
Singaporeans love to drive people home in their taxis or private cars
using the Grab or Uber system. They especially loved to drive the
foreign talents that took their jobs home and also the maids working
here after a night out.
And the little boy was smart enough to tell the mother that he too would like to be a graduate to drive taxis.
PS. Not sure if this is fake news or the hard truth.

Aiyah, nowadays it's very common for people to drive part time as UberCab or Grabcar or GrabHitch or any private hire cars Mah...dun be surprised there r Uni professor driving cabs or docs too wanna try out the profession..
RB , now is very common Kar. I have post graduate too and planning to apply to drive uber soon. Last job is Asia Pacific senior manager and executive director.

So now I know why PAP can get 70% due to amazing Sinkies like him.
I have a Sinkie friend who is very well off and also likes to drive very much.
And do you know that even President Trump likes to drive? That's why it was reported that he lamented that he could not do what he likes to do, like driving himself around, after becoming President.
So if even Trump likes driving, why not Sinkies?
Some more if can also make money by doing what one likes or love to do (driving), why not?
So don't worry for those Sinkie Uber, taxi or what not drivers who are ex PMETs. They love doing their job (driving) more than as PMETs, u know.
Yes, I met lots of taxi drivers who are graduates and hold responsible positions in their previous jobs. Sadly, they were all retrenched early and have to make a living by driving taxi. Of course some had already retired but continue to earn an income by driving taxi.
This is a sign of something gone very wrong with our system. Why are our graduates left to fend for themselves at their early age? Are they incompetent or simply replaced by cheap labor from 3rd World countries?
Sometimes I wonder why some Sinkies, whom I think could barely afford, also have a car.
Now I know. Probably they love driving, and of course to do so, they need a car.
So they will go through whatever means to get to do what they love to do.

WHO SHOULD BE THE FIRST ELECTED PRESIDENT?
According to one source, a directive has been issued to the 151st propaganda press ordering them not to raise the question on the counting of the first officially Elected President. The directive is said to be from a “high ranking official”. It added that the matter be let to rest, in order to prepare the daft Sinkies for the first Malay Presidential Election.
It is believed that the mote was issued to stop Sinkies from questioning the legitimacy of the coming Malay Presidential Election.
The reserved election law only kicks in after the Malay race is unrepresented in five consecutive presidential terms.
As we all know, Parliament had decided that the counting should start from President Wee Kim Wee, who was officially appointed and did not contest in an election as the elected presidency did not exist at that time. It was only towards the end of his tenure that the Elected Presidency law was passed.
Therefore, rightly, logically, legally, commonsensically, President Ong Teng Cheong is the first Elected President, as confirmed by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who was then the PM, in a condolence letter to the late President Ong Teng CHeong's family during his funeral.
President Ong Teng Cheong is also widely quoted as Singapore’s first Elected President in school textbooks and newspapers.
With the overwhelming evidences in historical records, the decision that President Ong Teng Cheong is NOT the the First Elected President will not hold water.
Yesterday (Sep 7), Member of Parliament Ms Sylvia Lim was not allowed to raise a question in Parliament over the definition of the “First Elected President”.
The question as to WHO SHOULD BE THE FIRST ELECTED PRESIDENT was DISMISSED by the Appeal Court last month, when former presidential candidate Dr Tan Cheng Bock raised the legal question. The Five High Court Judges said they had no powers over the Parliament in the definition of the “First Elected President”.
Besides the obvious miscount which invalides the coming PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION reserved for MALAYS, it is curious to note that all the potential presidential candidates are from the Indian Race. None of them are from the Malay Race as stated in their Identity Cards and Birth Certificates.
In order to circumvent the issue of the identity of the candidates written in individuals' Identity Cards issued by ICA, the definition of a Malay has been modified to include "a Muslim accepted by the Malay Community". The final decision as to who is "accepted by the Malay Community" rests with the Elections Department, which is legally, culturally, traditionally and historically not a Malay Community. Moreover, being accepted or not accepted is a subjective, not objective matter, which can be opened to abuse and subject to the accepting authorities' emotions and feelings.
The public was not consulted as to the definition of the Malay race, resulting in widespread confusion as many Indian Muslims have been denied welfare offered to the indigenous peoples' organisations such as MENDAKI, which represents the welfare of Malays.
The best scientific way to find out who belongs to the Malay Race is through DNA Tests, not by subjective judgments, feelings, emotions and perceptions of a small group of people.

Pilots are also taxi drivers. Just different tools. Taxi drivers are more noble jobs than politicians who jobs is to lie, break promises, screw ups, milk the people etc.

Only two feeble old kar that can still walk.
Saw one Peugeot 308 in Melaka Tesco Mall at RM76K brand new equivalent to S$30K plus insurance and what's not.
Can just drive out without COE 36K. Still got balance 6K for modifying that exhaust can hits the road bumper and Michelin tyres and fancy rims.

You are so lucky, you still can have a car. I don't own a car any more. I have sold all my cars when COE was high, so as to cut loss. And I put the money from my car sales into gold and silver, hoping to reap a profit next year.

You go to genting every two weeks, I go to Macao every two months to enjoy myself and make some money. I also go to visit my farm-house in Australia every month to take care of things there and visit my friends and relatives.
Health is the most important. That is why I convert my PR status to Citizenship in Australia in order to get free medical benefits for old folks like me.
In Sinkieland, where can you get free medical at Hospitals and Polyclinics? Except of course those Chinese medical help groups.

My two feeble Kars meant my two old human legs in hokkien. Cannot afford extortion COE fees so car scrapped long time ago.
Can afford maybe in Matland. Car plate with M just cost a fraction of SINKIE car.
S plates cars very expensive.

This is an understatement of the day. Just because many people are quiet does not mean they have no view or agree with what the govt is saying. The more hurt they are, the more they withdrew from the discussion. But the anger is intense. The ridiculous nature of the whole EP episode would go down as a dark chapter of Singapore's history.
