The tension caused by the mamasan is still festering. China has made a few careful steps to demand the Japanese to apologise but to no avail. The Japanese are still strutting around arrogantly, taking steps to strengthen their military and making offensive deployments of missiles against China, totally ignoring China, treating China like in the past, a weak and useless nation, ripe for another invasion and take over. And the latest, announcing to the world that Japan is going to acquire nuclear weapons.
And what was China's best shot at the Japanese? Please apologise, take back your words. That is all China can do or willing to accept to deescalate. The Japanese didn't even admit the Nanjing Massacre and the barbarity of Unit 731, let alone apologising. Why would they apologise on such a small matter, a few hurting words? And China is still hoping that the Japanese will apologise and waiting. Does China think scratching the back of the mamasan will be enough? The majority of the Japanese imperialists are behind the mamasan, and egging her to go on.
Maybe the Japanese should apologise and move on. This is the only thing that China is asking. Also apologise for the massacre and 731 and move on if an apology is what China wants, what China thinks is good enough.
Unfortunately, in the eyes of the Japanese, sorry to say this, the Chinese are nothing, to be polite. The Japanese despise the Chinese, look down on the Chinese since the defeat of China in 1894 and the invasion in WW2. And they got away unscathed. And have regained almost all their lost territories in the Ryukyu island chains and contesting with China for Diaoyu Island in China's doorstep. This is how arrogant the Japanese are and how dismissive they are to China. China is nothing to worry about. The Japanese are remilitarising, wanting to have nuclear bombs. When that happens, they will be able to threaten China again, re conquer China to take over China. This is how low the Japanese view the Chinese and China. The superior Japanese would not apologise to the inferior Chinese.
China can keep on begging for the Japanese to apologise. Maybe should go down on their knees to beg. Then maybe the Japanese will apologise, but not before making more demands on China, like surrendering Taiwan to Japan again.
PS. China's latest move, cancel 46 China airline routes to Japan permanently.
This is the pathetic state of affair of the China Japan relations. A giant begging a vicious for peace, to be nice to China. China still cannot see the big Japanese finger in its face, or pretending not to see.
