Tariff is the most intelligent weapon in the Trump's World of the Dafts

Trump is threatening BRICS countries with 100% tariffs if they move away from the US$. Is this a rhetoric or a game changing move? Why not just use sanctions, the modus operandi used by the USA in most cases? The fact is that sanctions have never been known to succeed. Countries like Cuba and North Korea have gone through decades of sanctions and have yet to collapse. The biggest failure that we have seen must be sanctioning Russia and now backfiring badly on Europe, benefiting China most of all. Some say the 'Mother of all Failures' will come when the USA starts sanctioning China. Let us see.

If the threat of 100% tariff is just rhetoric, that is what Trump does best and getting away with it. Trade wars are easy to win, right? Trump also gloated that tariffs are the best invention of mankind and easy to win as well, which Trump is going to use against others now. Trump talks as if tariffs are his personal weapon to use and that others are prohibited to use it. Good luck to him.

In the face of all this development, the surprising thing happening now is Putin warning Trump to be careful and watch his back. What are good friends for? Three or four assassination attempts against Trump are not going to be the last we will see. Unless they are false flags to raise Trump's standing.

If the threat is meant to be a game changing move, I believe China and others are not peeing in their pants. Not many countries are manufacturing for the USA market alone. The real victims of Trump's threat will be the USA citizens, being punished with more expensive consumer products due to the tariffs. Chinese manufacturing will continue to turn out US$30,000 EVs (or as low as US$4,999), cheap solar panels, steel and aluminum and other essential metals whether tariffs are imposed or not and will continue selling them without tariffs to the rest of the world. I believe those in the Global South will be happy to hear that. Cutting off cheap Chinese products will make life difficult for them.

Moreover, EVs are not sold widely in the USA at present, so China's EV makers are not going to collapse tomorrow. Trump can keep increasing his tariffs to 200% just to hit USA citizen's pockets, that is all.

Good morning All,

Tariffs unheard of in the past.

Only Import Duties that are been implemented on those Imported Goods purely for Government's coffers and also to protect the local industries from the same goods that may eroded their sales.

Excise duty only usually mild to also gave a headstart and protect those industries producing goods for exports and local sales.

Some daft countries had export duties purely for their coffers.

This may made their goods not competitive enough as some countries may also produced the same.

Usually these are the high so called value goods like the luxury watches and those conned bags from the Europa Countries that thought no one could beat them.

So this Dotard Trump thought that by using Tariffs he could destroy the economics of those countries that sell their goods to them.

Increased so called taxations that these exporting countries to them would suffer.

Stupidity of him. This so called Tariffs taxations are been bored by your own consumers as Import Duties.

The only drawback for the Exporters is only that their goods be more expensive than if the ones that they are producing locally.

If same goods are NOT produced locally, then it defeats the purpose.

Your own masses have to cough out the extra charges and your own may need these necessities.

The exporting countries then shall find other outlets or countries to sell to and maybe earned less.

But your own who have to have these necessities shall suffer as they needed these items for their essiential use.

Hello Dotard, please have tariffs on all goods at 100 to 200 percent on your imports!

You cannnot even manufacture a roll of toilet paper and have your Americunts wipe their arses with the newspapers of your Face on them.

As you wanted to be in the Headlines everday in your Papers.

As for GST, its a different thing all together.

For GST, this tax is imposed for All.

Locals as well as any person that came into Sinking Land for tourism as well as staying here.

It a broad base tax on all. Easily implemented and collected.

The Importers had to do the extensive
paper works and collections for the Government who just acts as the Watch Dog.

Those countries whose economy is normally Service Oriented Ones like Sinkieland prefered this taxations.

Collection of revenue from ALL whether locals or foreigners.

To waive the GST on the essientials meant that the foreigners would also enjoyed this relief.

Just like Matland who subsidised their petrol for their masses but were sponged dry by Sinkies who went to pump there.

That's why Anwar now stopped!

So the Papies collected all and gave the locals in rebate by reimbusing the GST credits.

Actually frankly, the lower income that do NOT buy those expensive items don't have to pay much GSTs.

Only once a while when your expensive appliances broke down and you buy new ones then you pay more.

Only those who brought high value items paid more.

After all most really don't pay the income taxes as most below the taxtable brackets.

Also same time they could collect extra import taxes on those so called luxury like liquor or preventive health hazard goods like cancer sticks aka cigarettes with heavy duties.

Last time we had different duties for different goods and lots of paper works documentations and also manpower checkings that slowed down trade.

Afterall SinkiesLand have no real Manufacturing Industries.

So no such protection of local industries.

Only collection for the Government coffers.

Matland had VAT i.e.Value Added Tax which is usually for Tourism and high end spending places.

This don't collect much.

Now their Hotels collected a surcharge for Tourists also not really much.

To implement GST like Sinkieland is best BUT it will definetely affected their poor masses.

Also their rebates if they wanted to follow Sinking Land is hard to implement as they are racially biased and may caused unhappines and be a political cause.

Cheers

China does not even need tariffs to protect its domestic market. Who else can make things cheaper than China? China has cheap energy from Russia (thanks to USA and EU sanctions on Russian energy), skilled and well-educated work force (thanks partly to the USA Government harassing Chinese scientists, engineers and students by forcing them to return and contribute to China's development instead, rather than finishing their education and staying in the USA to be targeted for harassment) and a potential growing Global South that is positive in its thinking about co-operating with China, knowing they are betting on the right horse (thanks again to the USA creating more and more enemies who are now clamoring to join BRICS and taking part in de-dollarization. More thanks to the USA for imposing sanctions at its whims and fancies on countries that do not toe the line, that makes them ask 'Who is next?)'

I almost fell off my chair reading the headline on Channel News America that India has come out to announce that de-dollarization is not the objective of BRICS. Who is India speaking on behalf of? Obviously not for BRICS, which was created solely for the purpose of providing an alternative for countries to move away from the US$ hegemony. We know India is not interested in moving away from the US$, knowing its rupee is shunned by every country, even Russia. India has to rely on the US$ for conducting trade and is obviously speaking for itself, and certainly not for BRICS's interest.

Just to add.

China just simply purchased from other countries that had the same products or goods that the UAssA is trying to hassle them.

There goes your exports of billions to us.

No need retaliate to sanction your exports. Or placed Tariffs.

Who be the losers? You imbeciles!

It took Trump more than 70 years to marvel at the wonders of tariffs. As if no one else in the world is aware of the use of tariffs all those decades.

Trump is one of a kind, thinking that he is having so many 'eureka' moments discovering things that others have discarded or finding out not going to be effective. How about Trump discovering that hurricanes are very wet? How about starting trade wars which he thinks is easy to win? How about asking people to drink insecticides to kill the COVID virus?

Trump looks at things on the surface only, not aware of what lurks beneath before deciding on implementing them. The same way he picks people to run his administration, only to discard them like changing his underwear.
