EU demanding transfer of Chinese technology to them?

EU to demand technology transfers from Chinese companies

Brussels is planning to force Chinese companies to transfer intellectual property to European businesses in return for EU subsidies.

New criteria requiring Chinese businesses to have factories in Europe and share technological knowhow will be first introduced into a tender for €1bn worth of grants to develop batteries in December, according to two senior EU officials. The pilot could be rolled out to other EU subsidy schemes, they said.

The requirements, while at much smaller scale, echo China’s own regime, which pressures foreign companies into sharing their intellectual property in exchange for access to the Chinese market.

PS. Why would they demand transfer of Chinese technology? Aren't their western technology more superior to Chinese technology?

China already 'electrocuted' vehicle manufacturers in the USA and EU in EVs, and many other areas of manufacturing. Even Tesla is finding the heat too much to bear. Chinese transfer of Chinese technology to the EU is of minor consequence, without the supply chains, the low-cost environment and most of all, cheap energy. Would the EU later also demand that Russia supply them with cheap energy as Russia did in the past? Putin would give them the 'middle finger' now. The USA would probably want to use the same demand that Chinese investments in USA must also come with transfer technology but is afraid of losing face by being accused of trying to steal China's technology. Why would such an advance country like USA want Chinese lagging technology?

But actually, the USA is already doing that in insidious ways. The USA attempted to steal DJI's drone technology with atrocious claims of DJI stealing its own technology. How is that possible when DJI cheaper drones are even better than the USA military grade Reaper drones, costing tens of millions each? This is not Chinese propaganda, but Ukrainian and Israel experiences made known to the world.

The same tactic is being used against Tik Tok, this time trying to link Tik Tok to the CCP. In the process it revealed how ignorant its own senators are about its Singapore CEO, trying to link him as a member of the CCP. Are such senators really fit to be classified as garbage?

This stance by the EU is just a desperate ploy to entice China to invest in the EU, which China is fast trying to extricate itself. It will amount to an exercise in futility.

In Singapore, instead of asking foreign companies to transfer technology to Sillyporean when they setup business here. Our Gov ask them to transfer their families/friends & whole village here.

They still make demands as though China is still in the opium war period where they can demand being given territories to divide among themselves.

And the most ridiculous demand was to insist that Hong Kong be given to them on a 150-year lease as compensation for the loss of their opium trade in mainland China. And more ridiculous was their continued interference in Hong Kong affairs after its return to China.

Barbarians are barbarians and can never be civilized, even today.
