With China throwing its weight around in the South China Sea, Secretary
of State Mike Pompeo rightly declared this month that the country’s
aggressive claims to offshore resources in the area were “completely unlawful.”
The message aligned the United States with international law in one of
the world’s most critical waterways and showed support for the smaller
coastal states threatened by Chinese bullying. NYT
The above NYT comment appears that the Americans are taking a high moral and legal ground to challenge China's claim to the islands in the South China Sea. On the same matter, on what legal basis did the Americans have to claim the island of Guam, Diego Garcia and many islands in the Pacific Ocean? To push the issue further, on what basis did the white Americans claimed the continent of North America as theirs? On what basis did the Australians, Canadians and New Zealanders claimed the lands they are occupying today as theirs?
What laws justified their legal rights to these lands? Law of Conquest? Or is it based on the Doctrine of Christian Discovery, made in the Vatican and claimed to be a law from heaven? Are these legal in any way? God said the non Christian natives are sub humans and have no rights to their lands and the white men, Christians, have the right to seize their land and to butcher them, to genocide them?
Yes, on what basis did the white men claimed the land of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as theirs? Where is the legal basis?

Former Malaysian PM Najib Razak was found guilty on Tuesday (Jul 28) of all seven charges in his first corruption trial involving millions of ringgit linked to state development fund 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The charges include abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust.
High Court judge Mohamad Nazlan Mohamad Ghazali's judgement:
“I find that the prosecution has successfully proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt. I therefore find the accused guilty and convict the accused on all seven charges."
"The defence has not succeeded in rebutting the presumption on the balance of probabilities or raising reasonable doubt on the abuse of power charge."
The charges against Najib, who was PM from 2009 to 2018, involved the transfer of RM42 million (US$9.8 million) from former 1MDB unit SRC International into his personal bank accounts in 2014 and 2015.
He was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust, three counts of money laundering and one count of abuse of power.
More charges will follow. It is understood that he still faces another 20 or so charges.
Any PM or Head of State who abused or misused his/her powers must not be spared from the law. Of course, all such criminals would try to cover up their tracks but the law's long reach can easily find out the truth if need be.
A traitor to his own countrymen is worse than a corrupted PM like Najib.
Such traitor should be executed if found guilty. No leniency or mercy must be shown to such traitors.

The theatre of conflict has shifted from the Middle East to the South China sea since the last 3 years. A big bully would know it is easier to create chaos of small states than to contain one strong and united China. So now everything is being throwing at China, rock stock and barrel.
How much lands have the Whites shamelessly stolen from others?
The USA itself belongs to the Red Indians. The shameless Whites, the Brits initially, posing as Christian missionaries, landed and pretended to be spreading their religion and ended up seizing the land of the Red Indians.
Hawaii was insidiously and discreetly wrestled from the Hawaiians. Diego Garcia residents were forced out by the Brits/US and were resettled in a less conducive environment for survival. Australia was treated as a penal colony for British criminals and it ended with the Whites seizing ownership of the continent from the Aborigines.
The Whites attempted the same trick on China but with little success. The attempt to spread Christianity to China, and also to India, by and large failed and China was later forced to open it's doors to the opium trade and also ceded territories to the Whites.
India on the other hand was under British rule. The sad part was that the British looted the country, estimated to be as much as $43 trillion in all, took all the loots back for the development of the UK. India was left in poverty, starvation and underdeveloped for decades after independence.
What good have the Whites brought to benefit mankind other than looting the resources of the land which they ruled for their own benefit.
All the US Presidents should be charged for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Including all their military chiefs and CIA chiefs.
The Legendary Poor Rich And Powerful Najib Razak
Malaysia's Ex-PM Najib Razak has been found guilty of all 7 charges by a Malaysian court.
For corruption, he gets 12 year and a fine of MR210 million.
For the other six charges, he gets 10 years each.
Total would be 72 years if the sentences were to run consecutively. However, the sympathetic judge has allowed the sentences to run concurrently.
Say what you want but luck has obviously played an important part. Najib's unceasing prays, five times a day, for the past three years have yielded dividends, so to speak. Allah is Great!
As Najib has been granted a stay of the sentences pending his appeal, he is still a free man. He can still freely influence his close and beholden friends and loyal puppets to do his biddings, to ensure that his sentences are quashed, or at least commuted.
He is still the Chairman of BN and is still in control of UMNO. His BN and UMNO are a part of the present coalition PN government, of which BN has the biggest majority. If BN pulls out of PN, the present PN government collapses.
This means the present PM (I don't even bothered to remember his name) is sitting on a very shaky throne full of booby traps. Depending on how he plays the dangerous game of political maneouvres and manipulation once again, his days may be numbered.
The present PM was once Najib's Deputy until he was sacked by Najib for speaking out against him and for preparing to sell out the then PM Najib. Ironically, to gain the Malaysian King's favour, the present PM had to seek Najib's blessings to join force with him to form the new coalition called PN.
In politics, today's friend can become tomorrow's enemy and today's enemy can become tomorrow's friend. It's all about power balance and alignment.
He who wields the Power has many friends. He who lost his Power loses his many friends. That's why a smart political hack will do his utmost best not to lose his Power at all costs, by all means.
As always in the schemes of things of a cunning, ruthless and power-crazy political hack, the end always justifies the means.
In the Malaysian scenario, it seems that Najib is still smarter than Dr Mahathir and Anwar combined. Probably, the present Malaysian PM is still very much Najib's stooge, probably bought by Najib's ill-gotten $billions behind the innocent curtain.
A shrewd politician like Dr Mahathir has soft power but not enough hard power (plenty of hard cash and murderous muscles).
Najib, on the other hand, has both hard and soft powers, even until today.
Despite the convictions by the court, Najib is still not disgraced. He is still very much respected as Boss-Ku (meaning, My Dear Boss).
I am quite sure Najib still has a place in the hearts of many multi-millionaires and power-traders in the Singapore society. Money is everything. Money is power!
