Clean city? Singapore not there yet: Vivian
The above is the title of an article by Samantha Goh in the ST on 2 Feb to hammer in the point that Singapore is a dirty country. It also implied that Singaporeans are still guilty of littering and needed to get their acts together. There was also a photo of the litter left on the Alexandra Arch Bridge, tissues, plastic bags, beer and liquor bottles, plastic bottles, food wrappers. Guess who did it? The jokers and jesters would immediately blame the Singaporeans.
The ordinary Singaporeans who have been walking around and knew who the culprits were do not need second guessing. It is the foreigners that littered the public places, stupid. Don’t blame it on the Singaporeans.
Singapore is not yet a clean city? Where have you been? For kids who were born yesterday, they can be forgiven for their ignorance. Are you a Martian? We were a clean city in the 70s and 80s. We were very proud of this fact and accolade. The whole world was in praise of our beautiful city, clean and green then. Every foreigner stepping out of Changi would be wowed by our clean and beautiful city. Of course you won’t know with the blinkers over your eyes.
What happened? Please look at your darling foreigners. They are the filth that were brought in here to litter and dirty the place. Get rid of your darling foreigners and we would be clean and green again. Get rid of them and the trains and buses would smell good and clean again. There are just too many of these filth living among us and bringing down the quality of life here, and the cleanliness of our once beautiful and clean city.
Please come down from high heavens and be real. Please say the right thing and do the right thing. If not, we would not only be a dirty country, we will slip from 1st World to 3rd World with the presence of so much filth in our midst, in your watch.
We have been there!

From a CLEAN city to a CLEANED city!
My neighbourhood used to be a wonderful place to live in and bring up kids, a very clean and green environment.
But, it is not the same anymore.
It is full of litters now.
We have DETERIORATED!
Really from a CLEAN city to a CLEANED city!
wHY? WhY? WHy?
Sad! Very Sad! Very Very Sad!
Please dun be a toad living under the coconut shell lah.
Stop self praising n thinking that this is a clean city.
Travel more to compare .
Whether its a small lane or a public road in Taiwan Indonesia or Malaysia etc.. i hardly find any litters on the streets even without bin around and even make me feel that there are no more smokers in those countries.
One of the possibilty is that their people are self discipline, the cleaners take pride in their jobs and clean every corners and not hide the bin so as to lesson their responsibility.
We need more responsible local sinkies to be cleaners .Please help to contribute and be a cleaner and keep Singapore clean.Whin lesser .
The only part that made sense is for more Sinkies to be cleaners then they would not be so gongkia.
Redbean should be made a cleaner so that he would appreciate foreigners who come and do all the dirty work here. Instead of sipping Starbucks at home sitting in front of a computer and complain money no enough.
Democratic city?
Singapore not there yet.
The 40%.
Wow rb you sound really agitated and becoming a loose canon leh
You don't even have a clean government in SinCity and you expect a clean SinCity ?
Is this another riot ah?
Are the PRC and Malaysians having a friendly discussion about picking up the rubbish Vivian has been spewing from his mouth?

At the real singapore site, two videos attached to the Article complaining about SPF Brutality at the Thaipusam Festival, show near full bloom riot almost happened.
Well, many Sinkies have predicted the LATENCY of large scale rioting happening. It maybe just happen anytime, now that most in Sin are in foul mood due to pressure and unhappiness in living. Those that cant bear anymore have taken their own lives, hence the Many Suicides. Others took the lives of others in homicide.
A larger group are like a volcano waiting to erupt. Thus, I go with those who predict riots happening. Hope we have the Luck to avoid it though I see election time as a most potential one.

Clean is very subjective. Just like fair, equality, happiness.
This is the guy who said there are no poor people in Singapore.
Poor people or no poor depends on the definition. Once it is defined, it is objective, and comparisons with other countries can be made.
PAP's definition of "poverty" is the same as their definition of "dignity".
"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals.
Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity."
So if poverty = dignity;
then the PAP definition of poverty is an annual salary below $500,000.
even then, $500,000 a year is still below the PAP definition of "peanuts" or $600,000/year.
There exists a poverty line for rulers.
For the poor, no line for they are not elite or talented, so not measurable. Neither is there anything to commensurate.
That's the problem nonentity faces.
