Residents to elect their own mayors?
Someone suggested this to be a better thing. My question, why do we need mayors in the first place? To give more pay to the mayors? What can the mayors do that the MPs cannot do or vice versa? Oh, MPs are part timers, too busy working and making money. Are mayors part timers also? If full timers are needed, why not make MPs full timers? $16,000 pm is not small change and deserves to have a full time person on the job.
Either we make the MPs do their job or replace them with mayors. It is an either or option. There is absolutely no need to have both. We are a little pee sai. Got so much work for mayors, MPs and town councils to do? Got very powerful CCC Chairman some more!
Please don’t waste public money and resources. We are too small and no need to create so many levels of appointments and work and money to pay to so many people.
Why don’t we create a mayor post for every constituency and 5 or 6 mayors for big GRCs? Are our people that incompetent? London and New York with more than 10m population only has one mayor each. They are not falling apart. Are our HDB estates better run by our mayors than London and New York?
Do we need mayors for every 20 blocks of flats or every 100,000 people? Hey, our mayors are all super talents earning super talent salaries, definitely more than the mayor of London and New York.
Are we getting value for money? Or are we made to become Santa Claus?

FYI mayors also receive a lifelong pension after serving two terms. Bloody waste of money on redundant political appointees!

It's not so much work but rather very difficult work.
So difficult that even the strongest Sinkie opposition is not even ready to do it!
That's why they were never voted in by the 60% to become mayors and majority MPs.

It's not difficult work lah. Rather it is difficult for the opposition to be ready to do the work.
Please be clear about that.
PAP is running a very expensive government.
I don't think Singaporeans can afford this government anymore.

Governemnt always complain that we are not cost effective, affecting our national productivity. Hey, look at the government, do you think they are cost effective? For some costly departments instead of being managed by one super minister are manned by multiple ministers. Good example is PM Office.

No need to be cost effective lah. OPM just spend and spend. Any MP not happy, money not enough, create another mayor position and make him happy can oredy. If mayor salary not enough, promote to minister and park in PMO, like that also can.
If one has the right connections, can easily get a highly paid job in papists without doing much. If the people do not like it, can stop voting for papists. But the people like it very much and so the problem becomes bigger until this small island has so many mayors.

Singapore, an island city, should have ONE mayor and a small staff. That's it.
The Crown Colony of Singapore used to run quite fucking well with just a governor and a small govt.
50 years of big "we-control-EVERYTHING" PAP is Govt, Govt is PAP" and the people, now converted to Sheeple collective believe that "big govt good", "parliament good".

All the opposition candiadates are of very good calibre, Jee Say, Sylvia, Soon Juan, LTK, and not forgetting CSM.
Just vote for them, easy as 123.
