Our success story and the riches we have accumulated are
coming together nicely to make merry. We worked hard, very hard, to achieve
what we have today. We have grown up, from being young adolescents to young
adults that wanted everything that are symbols of success to celebrating our
successes. It is time to party.
We have so many things to celebrate for and we do it in very
big ways. We went overseas to celebrate with overseas Singaporeans and ex
Singaporeans. We celebrate National Days and a big 50 year anniversary bash is
in the works for 2015. There are so many things that we celebrated and partied,
the F1s, the arts festivals, the international sports events, New Year and all
the various festivals, saving mother earth, saving energy, green day, lights
off day, teacher’s day, mother’s day, father’s day, children’s day….founding
father’s day, mother and father in law’s day….dog’s day, cat’s day. Why not, we have the money to spend.
The latest in the news is a one year celebration to mark 50
years of Singapore India relations. There will be a series of celebration in
both countries with visits of dignitaries and delegations and shows and
whatever. It will be a year-long celebration that would include a Singapore
festival in India
and an Indian festival in Singapore.
There will also be opportunities to celebrate our relations
with the Asean countries in the same way, with the Americans, our protector,
our former colonial master the Brits. We forget to celebrate the crowning of a
new prince, but did we celebrate the Queens titanium
anniversary or moon rock anniversary? We should also celebrate our special
relationship with Israel
for helping us built our armed forces. Now who else shall we celebrate as there
is still plenty of money in the kitty? Nevermind, we will remember more
countries and occasions to celebrate while we are in the partying mood. The
people will be joyous and maybe got free chicken rice to partake too.
I have had fond memories of the last few days when the
British Forces were here. There were celebrations everyday and in very big
ways. They needed to spend whatever funds they have accumulated in the kitties
of the Officer and NCO messes. It was like throwing money away as it was not
right for them to take the money along. If they didn’t spend them, the money
would become OPM. The SAF officers would inherit the wealth which they did not
contribute to it. They simply cleaned out every cent they had and left nothing
for us. Why should there when they would not be here tomorrow?
Everything is happening in the island today in a different
way. There are so many celebrations that Sinkies would be so happy and could have
made them the happiest people in the world, or at least a people in perpetual celebration.
Spending money is always an easy and happy thing to do, especially OPM.

Strange thing loyal Sinkies stay back serve NS, work, career, rice bowl disruptive yearly in camp training, annual IPPT, RT for many not so fit husbands and young fathers, do more national duties via having two babies, have to squeeze sardine packed mrt with foreigners from some strange land every day at least twice and what do they get? Not even a cup of coffee from the G, less mentioning a packet of chicken rice. Quitters have the luxuries to enjoy home cooked food and chef specially flown to far away land to whip up a storm to let quitters satisfy their taste buds to their fullest.
Time for this bochap Sinkies garment to wake up and at least organise a DAFT SINKIES DAY IN SINKIELAND at the Padang or Floating Platform. With the high cost of housing, medical, cars, rentals and practically everything, Singapore cannot afford a financial crisis. It will be like a tsunami that will sweep everything away, jobs and foreigners.
And a financial crisis is going to be an external factor that cannot be stopped. The house of cards supported by high cost, depending on every Sinkie to have a high income to pay for them is simply unsustainable and a high risky affair.

If TJS had his way when he was Loa Gow's principle private secretary and Civil Servant, he would have eliminated all manufacturing in Singapore, transform Singapore into a financial hub. Financial Services suck people blood, especially blue workers transform raw materials to things we needs to survive.
Since the 60's people like Loranzo, Soros, T. Boone Pickens, Saul Steinberg, Ivan Boesky, Carl Icahn, Kirk Kerkorian..... stripped many well know American companies from an on going entity to bankruptcies and blue collar workers becomes unemployed. George Soro, try to bring Malaysia down using currencies, he failed. Many of these financial wizard still around today getting richer by the day while shipping jobs overseas.

I can answer this better than many Sinkies. I was homeless for over 8 months after my wife passed away. Dragging three bags (all I can carry) living in Gaylang's cheap hotel, sibling homes and in hotels. Almost like JBJ. The only differences - JBJ was a politician and I am just another poor old man, just lost an BTO leased pigeon in the Sky.

Can you really remove the PAP, even if you succeed, what will happen - to failed States like Middle East? What will happen if they leave or remain?
What happens if there are one or more calamities anywhere in the world, what will happen to the food’s chains. Jc, from what I have read, tjs paper on the 60 billion reinvestment was to invest into sinkies to built capabilities. He did not say to get rid of manufacturing but to get rid of inefficient and low value added industries not suitable with our higher cost structure which is now sustained by cheap FT that creates all sorts of problems. But Shit times then twisted the focus of the paper to state that he wanted to get rid of manufacturing totally.
On tkl, I understand this guy was told to go because he refused the turn the company into a profit only company but one that provides cheap coverage for the masses. Do u have so e insider information that we are not privilege of or you are relying on the shit times which merely distort what they said or done?

Well said. His backgrounds beside MTI were financial sectors (Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, Peregrine.....) after he left Lao Gow. In 2008 financial sectors shook the world, have NEVER recovered and expecting tremors much worst than in 2008.
I always wonder what did he contributed opening our doors, gobbling uncontrollable FT, PR, NC (new citizen). 5.2 today and tomorrow 6.9. More likely 8.9 millions. I never read "shit times" and have NO inside information....base on what he is doing today. Selling insurance and consultancy. We need insurance, but regulated... how much Insurance can make! Why should NTUC have monopoly away from its core mission... protecting workers right and from predators? NTUC is one of the many predators. Briefly, Tan Wah Piow doing what needs to be done.
