HEALTH ALERT -- Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption
By Mike Adams
The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has just completed a detailed review of more than 7,000 clinical studies covering links between diet and cancer. Its conclusion is rocking the health world with startling bluntness: processed meats are too dangerous for human consumption. Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives. Processed meats include bacon, sausage, hotdogs, sandwich meat, packaged ham, pepperoni, salami and virtually all red meat used in frozen prepared meals.

Consumers should stop buying and eating all processed meat products for the rest of their lives. Processed meats include bacon, sausage, hotdogs, sandwich meat, packaged ham, pepperoni, salami and virtually all red meat used in frozen prepared meals.
They are usually manufactured with a
carcinogenic
ingredient known as
sodium
nitrite. This is used as a colour fixer by
meat companies to turn packaged meats a bright
red colour so they look fresh. Unfortunately, sodium nitrite also results
in the formation of
cancer-causing
nitrosamines in the human body. And this leads to a
sharp increase in cancer risk for those who eat
them.
A 2005 University of Hawaii study found
that processed meats increase the
risk of pancreatic cancer by 67 per cent. Another study revealed that every 50
grams of processed meat consumed
daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 50 per cent. These are alarming numbers. Note that these cancer risks do
not come
from eating
fresh, non-processed meats. They only appear in
people who regularly
consume processed meat products containing sodium
nitrite.
Sodium nitrite appears predominantly in red
meat products (you won't find it in chicken or fish products). Here's a
short list of food items to check
carefully
for sodium nitrite and
monosodium
glutamate (MSG), another
dangerous additive:
* Beef jerky
* Bacon
* Sausage
* Hot dogs
* Sandwich meat
* Frozen pizza with meat
* Canned soups with meat
* Frozen meals with meat
* Ravioli and meat pasta foods
* Kid's meals containing red meat
* Sandwich meat used at popular restaurants
* Nearly all red meats sold at public schools, restaurants, hospitals, hotels and theme parks
If sodium nitrite is so dangerous to humans, why do the FDA and USDA continue to allow this cancer-causing chemical to be used? The answer, of course, is that food industry interests now dominate the actions by U.S. government regulators. The USDA, for example, tried to ban sodium nitrite in the late 1970's but was overridden by the meat industry. It insisted the chemical was safe and accused the USDA of trying to "ban bacon."

Today, the corporations that dominate
American
food and agricultural
interests hold tremendous influence over the FDA and USDA. Consumers are offered no real protection
from dangerous chemicals intentionally added to foods, medicines and personal
care products.
You can protect yourself and your family from the dangers of processed meats by following a few simple rules:
1. Always read ingredient labels.
2. Don't buy anything made with sodium nitrite or monosodium glutamate.
3. Don't eat red meats served by restaurants, schools, hospitals, hotels or other institutions.
And finally, eat more fresh produce with every meal. There is evidence that natural vitamin C found in citrus fruits and exotic berries (like camu camu) helps prevent the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines, protecting you from the devastating health effects of sodium nitrite in processed meats. The best defence, of course, is to avoid eating processed meats altogether.

Oh ny God! Every morning we are eating luncheon meat when we order fried mee hoon unknowingly killing ourselves! KNN!
Despite the many problems in processed and canned foods. Humans are living longer and getting bigger in size. And many are suffering longer of course, plague by all kinds of health and medical problems.
Worse are those kept alive by medical equipments but have absolutely no quality and purpose in being alive. Their sufferings invariably affect their next of kins.

Health Alert!
---------------
Protect yourself from unhealthy government policies.
Vote Opposition to check on the quality of the policies before they become law.
Like 6.9 million.
I have no intention of giving up ham. Or sausages!
Incidentally, the news report is at least 2 years old...
thank you for the info......
but, almost all canned foods contain the food additives mentioned by you .......
not only meats...even liquid foods....almost everything as long as canned .......
unless we ban canned foods....otherwise are we saying .....
EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!
Whats d issue? Medishit life coming soon! Cancer or not also jiak, loong chong jiak! :)$$$$$$$$:) Loong chong compulsory! Dare say dont want, get a few big guys, hold down your old bones, catch your jaws, force open your mouths and legs and shaft down your throats and arses. Wind pipes burst and arses pitcha never mind, no problem got medishit in place take care you old bones liao, until technically 1,000 years old. See! How caring and good! Loong chong take care!
It's all in the genes and fated lah, processed meat or not, smoking or not,......
Why some non smokers can get lung cancer while smokers don't?
"Warren Buffett is a man who loves Cherry Coke. He jokes that he owes his good health to “Cherry Coke and hamburgers....." http://www.bonappetit.com/trends/article/warren-buffett-famed-cherry-coke-lover-fails-blind-cherry-coke-taste-test
Moderation and don't over indulge in anything.
Aiyah, eat also you die, don't eat also die.
Better eat all the sin food and die earlier before you cannot afford to pay the medishield premiums
"Moderation and don't over indulge in anything."
Live so long for what?
You think we all so lucky ah.
We all can continue to get paid to live in Istana meh?
We can only hope to have an euthanasia law implemented in Singapore.
So that we can die quickly and no need to burden our family.
Here's a toast:
'To good food, good wine and bad women. May we all die with a big smile and our cock standing."
No need for Euthanasia if one wants to end it all.
For those afraid to die(kiasi), painless death is still very scary.
Those who are not afraid of death, they always go without leaving any hint.
We should live well. The problem with over indulgence is to create disharmony within our body system that could lead to pain and suffering unnecessarily.
Keep your body in balance to avoid or minimise pains and suffering while you enjoy your life, and die easily.
Die quickly, you mean, before seeing the medical bill, right!
Kaki
Here we go with another attempt at SCAREMONGERING on the so-called "dangers" of sodium nitrite and nitrosamines. Please lah, if you eat in moderation and in frequently, no problem lah.
In fact, consuming too much sodium -- found in ALL foods -- is probably more dangerous for your heart.
>> And this leads to a sharp increase in cancer risk for those who eat them.
NONSENSE!! Correlation does not always mean CAUSATION. My alternate hypothesis: Those people consuming large amounts of processed meat over many years probably have BAD DIETS and BAD LIFESTYLES anyway. i.e. too lazy or stingy or both to cook or eat properly, too lazy to look after themselves in other aspects of their lives.
>> monosodium glutamate (MSG), another dangerous additive
Rubbish. Some people are hyper sensitive to MSG and show side effects after consumption. If you're not one of them, there's nothing to worry about.
>> And finally, eat more fresh produce with every meal.
Finally, some good advice based on irrefutable science. I eat vegges and fruit with ALL my meals -- even breakfast -- large 150g leaf salad and assortment of fruit. My daily consumption of vegges and fruit close to 1kg on some days. Average 600 grams.
@Gintai 927:
>> Every morning we are eating luncheon meat when we order fried mee hoon
Every morning eating fried shit will fuck up your heart, unless you exercise like an athlete.
>> Mike Adams, the Health Ranger a leading authority on healthy living
No he isn't. He is a QUACK and a scaremonger who bullshits the science to prove his point. He is certainly no "authority".
Life is in the Hand of the almighty though one has choices of foods.
Eat, drink and do whatever that make happy.
A short happy life is much preferred over a long fearing and worrying one.
Worse a suffering one.
Going to work and working can also be dangerous and may be even more dangeorous but that does not mean we stop doing that. Sometimes, it is a matter of no choice.
