Malaysian University admission standard very high
It is reprinted in My Paper of a report in The Star/Asia News Network of a number of top Malaysian students with perfect scores for the STPM but either failed to get a place in Malaysian Universities or being given a course not of their choice, or courses that are unpopular or of lower economic values.
Chai Yee Lin obtained a perfect 4.0 CGPA score, applied for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and bio medical courses but was given a veterinary science course in Kelatan University. Another student, Chong Yong Sheng, also with perfect score was not even good enough for a place in the universities. And another girl, Deveshini Uthani was devastated as well for not given a place. Her score was poorer, 3.96. She thought it was good enough and that she had done her family proud.
What all these students failed to understand is that there must be many many students with perfect scores, probably 10,000 or 20,000 or more. Thus, their perfect scores were actually average or below average. And the standard for admission must also be very high.
These students should work harder if they want to get admitted to Malaysian universities. On the other hand they may try their luck in Singapore Universities. Here the entry requirements would not be that high and they may even be good enough for an Asean or a Singapore Govt scholarship with food and lodging thrown in. And if they did well on graduation, they may even be given citizenship.
The competition of the local students is not so fierce as the local talents are deemed daft and would not have that kind of scintillating results. It has been proven that many third world students have done much better than the locals and even in employment. Even a youtube porn star was once a scholar in a Singapore university.
I will encourage these top Malaysian students to come down south. Oops, they are not tops in Malaysia but tops in Singapore, I think. They will be received with open arms.

As usual politicians lied. Taking away quota is a bullshit thing. Backroom, selection is still based on race. When will people ever learn?

First thing first, three pure science subjects. No three pure sciences NO TALK.
Also, minimum pass your second language hoh - if not sorry. U lucky, last time must meet certain grade.
Then interview, no females please. After married, becomes homemakers aiyoh sayang!!!
Waste lots of monies you know in subsidy.
Go to Ireland and other Aussie Unis- NO need these requirements lah- O levels also can. Just come here and study and if you qualified will you you the medicial degrees lah- No hassles.

We do not not care where degrees they come from. As long as it is a degree, - forged or otherwise.
We need you all badly- we short of our own talents.
Last time my neighbourhood GPs so many doctors from Edinburg, Ireland and dont know what lands also practicising medicines.
My mum's forehead sitched by by a pinay Doctor so deep that has to go twice to private and polyclinic to remove the stitches.
So Welcome ASEAN (AH SIAN) good friends, come to SIN, our Unis, we welcome U. Vacancies reserved for U, sinkies not qualified.
Afterwhich, you all can film yourselves naked and posted on U- or All tubes for all to see.
We the PAP very generous ones. We purposely have one Minister to tell the sinkies not to study in the Unis so that we specially reserved these places for you.

RB - of course you are being facetious, right? You know the real reason, right? It is all about kulit-fication, not qualification (hint: kulit means skin in Malay). Notice that those with high scores being denied places in universities are all Chinese, whereas Malays with barely passing marks are offered choice places like medicine and engineering.

Mahathir backs moves to punish minorities and reward pro-government voters, companies
Last week, the Malaysian government announced its allocation of public university seats for the upcoming academic year. Only 19 percent of Chinese students got places, along with 4 percent of Indians despite the fact that the two together make up about 30 percent of the student population. Last year, Chinese students got 23 percent, in line with their proportion of the overall population.

Actually hor, in the past, say 20 years ago, a lot of bright foreign students (maybe 99% of foreign students) were from Bolehland. And so are professionals like doctors, engineers, etc too. Have you heard of PRC, India Indian, Mynamar or Pinoys then? No, tio bo?
But in recent times, not many come from Bolehland anymore. Or maybe not enough of them for PAP to grow the GDP. Or maybe Sinkieland now not good enough for these Bolehland talents. So no choice, PAP have to supplement it from other sources lah.
So there you are, so many PRCs, India Indians, Mynamar and Pinoys all over the place.
And more to come, as quota of 6.9 million not reached yet.
Bolehland has racial quota.
Sinkieland has talent quota.
So those Bolehland talents who cannot meet the racial quota and talent quota and also money no enough have to go for veterinary science course in Kelantan University lah, tio bo?
West Malaysia has always been our traditional source of workers including PMEs. The two people have been closed all the years. It is always our preferred choice to have the Malaysians here than from other third world countries.
If Malaysia does not want their own local talents, like us, we can always welcome them here.

Provided they are willing to come lah. And provided they are talented enough lah. Or else PAP will reject them just like they reject those not so talented Sinkies by not giving them scholarships.
I'm all for them coming to SG. I'm sure they will do well here. Even if SG does not take them, I'm sure places like Australia, NZ and UK are more than keen to have their talents.
To add, these students are NOT 'rejects' compared to some others I know in my industry.
Rather they face a very challenging and 'moronic' quota system that makes absolutely no sense but bring the country further backward.

The purpose is to stay in power forever.
Not to build up a skilled and talented core of Singaporeans who can replace THEM.
It's not about what is good for Singaporeans or Singapore.
It is about what is good for the POLITICAL PARTY.
At least they are honest and they never mentioned that they run a meritocracy system. To be admitted to a MU, it is not only about CGPA scores, it is about many other factors including CGPA scores.
IN comparison, someone said that they run a meritocracy system but get their family members to head this and that and control the reserves, get all the foreigners in to control the locals so locals cannot shine. Only provide 99 LH shabby flats and crowded public transport. I hope this kind of 'communistic' rule will end. Who is more lousy?

Is not Malaysia also a developing country?
Preference is ok but ratio cannot be set based on that.
One must know talent is not
restrict to a area or zone.
But more importantly Number of Scholarship given to foreigners should not exceed those to Singaporeans. That include Malaysian.
It should be not much issue as long most of these students came here paid their school fees themselves which not only can lower education fees overall. Also
there must be rules to limit
number of these graduates working here after their course completed to prevent depressing market.
