For every Singaporean who loses his job, two foreigners got employed
When a Singaporean is being replaced by a foreigner, one job is lost to him while a foreigner got employed. For a foreigner being employed here, he quits or does not apply to get another job in his country. His country gets a spare job and his countryman gets a job.
This is the generosity of Singapore. For every job we create, two foreigners are employed. Never mind if one Singaporean becomes jobless. That is our contribution to the world, job creation. And if there are 500,000 foreigners working here, we have actually created 1m jobs, regardless of whether a Singaporean is being replaced.
Singapore deserves a Noble Prize for being so magnanimous and noble.

If what you say is true/ correct -- which I doubt very much, then that would suggest that employing Singaporeans is "slowing down" employment growth.

Matilah, this is only applicable to the PMET type of jobs and more relevant to those at the top. The professionals and highly qualified will definitely get themselves employed here or elsewhere.
As one goes down the ladder, the correlation may be lesser.

The employment situation for Sinkie is getting from bad to worse.A univesity graduate getting paid $500 without bonus or leave and get slapped every now and then

I wonder how our leaders feel when they read this report. Or have they lost their hearts in their pursuit for $$$ ?

That is an intern which means no degree yet and for work experience.
the boss is out of line and should be disciplined.
Pay wise for interns about there and better than even in Australia/USA where sometimes people work for free to get the coveted internship at certain companies

Unless you can stop technology such social media which also utilises a lot of companies outside of OECD countries.
MNC's can and will place their operations where they can earn the most profit without affecting their operations.
A lot of Singaporeans are also gaining jobs because MNC companies find them cheaper than say Europe prime example shipping and logistics.

Some Sinkies got to understand the Saying that Charity begins at home and UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF HOME OR MORE CORRECTLY FAMILY. Family of kins, family of clans and family of nation.
Any normal and sane human will care most for self and follow by kins(parents/children and succeeding offsprings) then clans. Many do believe that nationhood comes after self, however, that is too seldom so in practice in my view.
So, to cut it short; if aliens are favoured over the locals which is quite obviously and apparently the situation in Sin , then the Rulers are going against the Wisdom of Charity begins at home.

Hi theonion, the context of my article is clear for all to see.
The MNCs are not here for charity. Singapore is a very great place to do biz. There are many advantages, tangible and intangible, that make Singapore a choice place for MNCs. There is no need to be beggars and begging the cheap companies to be here. The good companies know why they want to be here.
The super rich know why they want to be here. Do we have to go down on our knees to beg like third world countries or badly managed countries?
Solution?Moral of story?
Sinkies should work harder and long hours so that we do not need foreigners here to work.
If every Sinkie can work 88 hours instead of 44 hours a week,he can help to reduce one foreigner.Thus will not create any job for them and their countrymen .
Daft Sinkies are spoilt intentionally spoilt,over pampered,cannot work longer hour,taking all kind of leaves and many jokers were so happy about paternity leave.And Faisal think he done a good job.haha..
All these only make Sinkie more lazy,more unproductive and thus create many opportunities for more FT to be here.
Me work round the clock.Occasionally get time off to see Geylang mei meis and get my battery charge ,motivated and enable me to continue working long hour.
If only 50 percent can be like me,no need for lame protest on 6.9m.Ask Gbird to go stage and sing Ai Pia Chia Ay Yeah more meaningful.
What to do?Keep getting spoilt and work lesser hour and cause our children being boss around by FT .

Bro, luckily my son as an intern was posted to a prestigious organisation who took care of him.
The polytechnics and Unis should make sure that their undergrads should be interned to those big organisations with proper training rather than to those two dollars companies who exploited the youngsters

We do not need any foreigners at ALL. So many people are brainwash think that we need foreigners and our population are too little and our students too fuck up.
WE DON NEED NO FOREIGNERS.
Iceland has 300,000 population with very little foreigners. And Iceland is among the most prosperous country in the world without natural resources.
Iceland university take him citizens as post graduate.
In fact the only thing sabotaging Iceland is banks.
Many Singaporeans do not know how this FT policy hurt us. Without FT, when PAP need road sweeper, they got to bid up the price until someone take up the job. The create equality and spread the wealth.
With FT, the wage of our manual worker drop to slump dog level. In fact, a lot of our social sin is due to FT. FT policy is an important component to transfer wealth to the rich and also instrumental in Kuan Yew vision of creating an India 2.0 caste system in Singapore.

Not all,but most just wayang wayang ,report at 8,surf net,lim kopi,lunch,some paper work,445 get ready to go home...actual working hour?max 4 nia nia.
After 5pm,can look for part time job,cleaner ,pump attendant,waitress,sookoority ...work another 3 hours and sleep again...so you work round the clock and get 2 salary.Maybe minister oso jealous if you got million dollar salary.
Why spent our spare time bringing the dog like Ah Huay for poo poo or gossipping at kopitiam?
Work longer hours,we should advocate.
How productive can Sinkie be?
Our inproductivity is systemic and degeneration of Singaporeans by PAP and manager class.
Singaporeans are most intelligent people in all matrics and test. PAP and managers are problem.
You may want to ask how productive are French or German? I tell you they all are work very short hours and spend time fuck and fuck. In France most children are out of wedlock.
France and Germany got long holidays. France has some incest problem in their society.
How you compare these countries with Singapore still quite moral and hardworking.
They problem of our countries is our leaders play too much politics. I prefer an ang moh boss than Singaporean/Chinaman boss most of the time until now.
In SG, the biggest sin in work is no non-performance, but conflict your boss.

Thank you theunion. But the ST reports says and I quote "According to Shin Min, the victim is a 29 year old university graduate who was also an intern"
I take this mean that he is graduate(from SIM) but some reasons chose to work for this soft ware firm for the past three years as an intern earning no pay but receiving some allowance and plenty of abuse.The employment situation must be stark bleak for him to stay on under such circumstances.
The formula for GDP by increasing population is a flawed and dangerous one that have very severe consequences in the long run. If this is a good solution then other clever western countries will be pursuing it relentless, so will the Japanese.
And why is China trying to curb its population growth, and why so many populous countries are so poor?
People must learn that it is useless to keep voting for the same useless papaya party who only knows how to take and take and make lives miserable for everyone except themselves and their cronies. While I pity this intern who has been abused by his boss; I question his wisdom. A 29 year old guy can't stand up for himself and need his parents to seek justice for him just don't seem right. Years of education have been wasted. Nonetheless I hope the boss would be punished and be made to compensate that intern.

- Not everyone has balls...some balls too small, some too big, some flatten, some matilah. Cannot expect everyone to behave the same. Cannot expect everyone to be rich or wealthy or intelligent or smart or well dress or have Lee Conyou as father. However, basic morale compass must be there. Basic housing and transport needs must be setup. Cannot be so shameless and expect people to vote for you when you cannot fulfil basic roles properly. People must learn that gov is a service provider and if they are lousy and beyond any hope, just drop them like a bomb. Do not be taken in by dirty tricks before GE.

"I AM glad that the Govt is open to the idea of having anti-discrimination laws,

We have many in our society who are willing to work, but are unable to secure jobs because of discrimination.
Our elderly citizens who have a wealth of work experience can so easily motivate the younger workers.
We have people who are recovering from depression and other types of mental illness who can contribute to society.
And we have young mothers who can be brought back into the workforce to boost the economy.
Then we have elderly retired nurses and teachers who can strengthen our health-care and education systems respectively.
Also, former prisoners who have been rehabilitated should be given opportunities to secure jobs.
By doing so, we can prevent them from going back to their old ways.
But all these can come about only if we have enlightened employers who are willing to employ job seekers
without discriminating against them because of their age, health status or past."

- you are so naive to think this way. with the open legs policy, working 88 hours will not help, the only other ways is to work until drop dead or migrate to WP camp which is the only born singaporeans camp. papaya has already turned into an ahneh camp and foreign born singaporeans camp.
Please do not deprive the youngs of the young mothers of their mother love and tender care. If the mothers are not ready to provide their children the best personal love and care, PLEASE DO NOT PRODUCE BABIES.
As for those calling for 88 hours work week, got to send them to IMH for examination or send them to concentration camp. They are only fit to be slaves.
