The death of Kim Jong Il has brought out some of the ugliest traits in some human beans across the world. In Taiwan, a news reader had the rude audacity to imitate the sorrows and grief in the way the North Korean news reader broadcast his death. And the Taiwanese thought it was fun. And some thought it was justifiable to win viewerships by such a poor taste act of disgraceful conduct.
The biggest disgraceful act happened at the UN when a 1 minute silence was proposed for the death of Kim, a national leader. The shameful boycott of this 1 minute observance was led by the US and its shameful allies, the European countries, Japan and South Korea. It was only a gesture of respect and condolence to Kim Jong Il, the leader of a nation. They really stooped really low in human decency to do such a darn thing.
Kim Jong Il was not Hitler nor was he a George Bush or Tony Blair whose hands were dripping with the bloods of Iraqis. How would the US and the European nations, supposedly civilised nations, behave in such a creepy and disgraceful way?
It was definitely uncalled for, and a very mean thing to do so.

Relax lah. The guy brought it on himself. He fancied himself as a super villain in the style of "Dr Evil", plus he had the audacity to frequently wave his little kim chi cock at the South, Japan and the US.
The guy was playing the game like a seasoned player. He was masterful in the ways he made everyone kelam kabut by launching piece of malfunctioning ordnance.. classic humour lah like Austin Powers movie
His legacy will endure for sometime yet...
..Although he is apparently dead, waiting for a prince to wake him with a kiss, or a blow job.
He is his own legend - a super hero to the hungry and dumb North Koreans, with his own set of amazing super powers.
Kim Jong Il is immortalised far better than anyone else. On youtube. On Facebook and twitter, on countless of blogs, forums and gag sites on a porn-infested internet.
Therein lies his power. We all should be a little awestruck, and perhaps a little envious
You are being ridiculous. Just because someone died doesn't mean there must be respect for that person.
Kim Jong Il was neither Hitler or Saddam, but he is not someone deserving of any form of respect. Millions in North Korea died of starvation under his leadership while he indulged in the best culinary the world can offer. Oh, what about his attacks on the Korean Navy ship and the artillery attacks? Should leaders of Mafia and Drug Pushers all be accorded UN 1 Minute of silence just because they killed less than Hitler?
For goodness sake, catch up a bit on current affairs and KNOW what Kim Jong Il had done before you start hitting out at countries.
Hi Roy, welcome to the blog.
The 3 things you mentioned. The famine was due to natural disaster. And you believe 2m people died?
The shelling of the border island the North Koreans admitted. You believe that they sank the Choenan? Even the South Koreans don't believe it? Please tell why you believe that it was their work?
The South Korean Govt is so embarrassed by the wrong accusation that they dare not mention it again or would they allow the North Koreans to examine the evidence. If they knew it was the North Koreans, war would have broken out. Heard of false flag? The devils who did it are laughing at the stupidity of the South Koreans.
And you believe the craps about his wanton lifestyle? There may be 60% of North Koreans that are blind and unthinking. Their lives maybe not be as comfortable as ours, but they are living better lives than many Asean countries or African or Asian countries.
North Korea is no paradise, but not a country in despair.
But you are free to disagree and believe in what you want to believe, like Matilah. Matilah can go on hating this bogey man.
I am neutral as I do not know him. Respecting anyone in death is a decent thing to do. And trying to humiliate someone out of political disinformation is mean and cheap.
Other side of the coin , if one choses to see both sides.

Roy, just because you believed in a lie, and you think people are stupid for not believing in the same stupid lie?
Don't be ridiculous to ask redbean to read up on current affairs. You sounded so naive.
Hehe...
just two wishes for the New Year; one the Koreans get themselves united by war or by love of their nation and fellow countrymen like the Germans.
The second is for China to fight a war with the US, who wins in the end is not important. The important thing is the Chinese will get to know themselves better.
The crowd here is interesting. I was told I ought not to believe in the news. Then the question is: on what basis do you think I am wrong?
Re: Anonymous at 1:23pm.
My sources are from Newspapers, websites, documentaries and interviews of deserters. What's the source of your insights that let you KNOW those of mine are all lies.
Re: Redbean
1) Famine lead to starvation. I get. The way Kim lived it up while people died. Was that a natural occurrence that is beyond his control?
2) 2Million died. I know many died. The exact number to me is immaterial. BTW. How many do you believe died? Where is your source? You were in North Korea and you counted? You estimated? What makes you the authority? If you are not who is the authority on this statistic that you relied on?
Or do you just doubt EVERYTHING that is reported on N Korea? Why? Is 2M your magic threshold? below which one should be accorded a minute silence upon death?
"Even the South Koreans don't believe it? Please tell why you believe that it was their work?"
Where did you know of these? From the same media sources I get mine? I am trying to be objective. Show me evidence and I shall believe. The international courts (despite their problems) reached a conclusion. Unless you know better, casting doubts without basis is not convincing.
"The South Korean Govt is so embarrassed by the wrong accusation that they dare not mention it again"
Fact:They have been mentioning please follow their election news bite.
"Would they allow the North Koreans to examine the evidence."
Could you tell me why they should allow the North Korean access to the evidence? How would and should North Korean presence affect the result?
"And you believe the craps about his wanton lifestyle?"
You do not? He has 3 sons with 3 different woman. Tell me that is a lie. What makes you believe otherwise?
"There may be 60% of North Koreans that are blind and unthinking. Their lives maybe not be as comfortable as ours, but they are living better lives than many Asean countries or African or Asian countries."
How do you know? You assumed? You interviewed North Korean defectors? Seriously, you try to cast the facts we accept as truths as lies. Why should I believe you over the N Korean defectors? I really hope the N Koreans are happy and not starving. I want to believe. You have anything that can help except your words?
FINALLY RESPECT.
I believe we should respect a person's death. To honor him with minute of silence is a completely different thing. If we "respect" every death with a minute silence, the world will be quiet all the time.
Why can't you respect of those who walked out a right to their opinion?
Hi Roy, good that you are trying to prove your case. Believing the news blindly without questioning is what I have said. One needs to look at news more deeply before coming to a conclusion, esp political news. I repeat, political news. Is that too much to ask or too difficult to grasp?
We all read the same news and the same facts. Even after scrutinising and questioning the news, I never claim that my interpretation is right. It is just my view based on the given information. I do not have the audacity and arrogance to insist that I am right and others are wrong.
I may disagree with you but won't call your views ridiculous and that you are naive. I said you are entitled to your views. Fair?
I have stated some of my reasons for saying that the Choenan is likely to be a false flag incident in another post. Even then I can not be sure. You are absolutely sure it was the work of the North. That's the difference.
Having 3 wives is nothing under the traditional societal norms. The ordinary people have more, even in the not too far past of Singapore. The Emperor or any court official had more. It was their norms. And what is that compare to Kobe Grant and Tiger Woods? And how is that compare to the young Singaporeans and the lifestyle? I won't make judgement on that. Did I disagree with you on his 3 wives and 3 sons? What are you arguing about?
They ate while the famine caused many to die. What is that so troubling? All the leaders everywhere did that when their country is in big trouble. They will continue to eat and party.
The Americans continue to party when the twin towers were falling. they did not jumped down with them. They did not even cry. Is that a problem?
2m or how many million, what is the real number? You quoted it, I never quote any number. Anyone who quoted something is saying he believes in it unless qualified.
The South Koreans still claiming the Choenan was sank by the North! Sure they are, but why not go to war when they are so ready to do so? It is another case of opening the mouth too early and die die must continue to stick to it though they know it was rubbish. Oh, this is my opinion, an assessment, you don't have to agree. You can still insist the North sank it.
They made such a wild accusation and refused to let the accused examine the evidence, and this is acceptable? I believe you are a believer of kangaroo court too.
How do you know that your 2m are true?
As for the quality of their livestyle, just look at the clothing of the ordinary folks of recent pictures taken by our own innocent journalism students. Their clothing are much much better than many in our region, just comparing ordinary with ordinary. That should be enough proof that they are not starving and needing foreign aid. Of course they are asking for aid, and if they could get it, why not. Why should they give up their nuclear facilities for nothing?
Oh, I never say those people cannot walk out. I said they are mean for doing so. It is customary at the UN or even here to observe a minute's silence for the death of a leader. That is nothing too much to ask for at the personal level. Can't they put aside politics for once and don't have to behave like a pack of hyenas everywhere they go?
I still say it is shameful, but I would not say anyone who disagrees with me is ridiculous or naive. These are values statements. There are such things where you can't accord a right and wrong on them.
Haha...
Redbean;
You are doing fine. Me never been to Korea and on the Issue of the Choenan, me believes You got it right.
I believe Redbean simply based on sensibility, an essential faculty to reason and reason well.
patriot
I spent time examing the photos of Choenan issued by the South Koreans. The explosion was either from inside the ship or from the bottom of the ship.
A torpedo attack would create a big hole from one side to the other side.
Dear Roy:
1) Famine lead to starvation. I get. The way Kim lived it up while people died. Was that a natural occurrence that is beyond his control?
If you take a look further away, taking 2 world wars into consideration, both Germany and Japan overextended their armies and both common people and soldiers were starving be they at the frontlines of safely back home.
Would you contend if this was within the powers of these nations to avert, by their rulers back then, that the overextension was a concious choice or 'natural occurence'?
Would you also happen to dislike these rulers for not starving together with their people? Surely these rulers would not have 'lived it down' by any measure, no?
Closer to home, would you also conceptually dislike certain people in power with the same unbridled ferocity you've dished out against Kim?
Would these same people not be 'living it up' with far more wantonness than Kim in retrospect?
Oh wait, they can only starve in coffeeshops not restaurants. I stand corrected by Vivian.
2) 2Million died. I know many died. The exact number to me is immaterial. BTW. How many do you believe died? Where is your source? You were in North Korea and you counted? You estimated? What makes you the authority? If you are not who is the authority on this statistic that you relied on?
It seems our hero has deviated to Joseph Stalin: "One death is a tragedy; one million is a statistic." Do you happen to employ equal zealotry to all human atrocities or just famine in particular?
If you say "The exact number to me is immaterial." then why the numerical obsession? Would you justify your numerical obsession with an equal conceptual obsession as well?
Do you believe the weapons of mass destruction tale told and rehashed as a reason to war other nations?
Do we ever question if that nation itself has the most weapons of destruction themselves?
Do you believe all reported news being its own absolute with no human inclination for propaganda or tort? Please say you are more astute than this.
p/s: 3 wives with 3 women isn't many by today's standards. Isn't that what Singapore is now gunning for? 3 or more if you can afford? If anything, Kim should be our population control idol.
Surely angst of this magnitude can be better harnessed as a tool for change over embitterment on a blogpost
Hi aunty, Matilah, Wally, agongkia and many in Sin will be very happy if we scrap the monogamy law. I may go along too: )
Aiyah the whole institution of modern marriage as we know it is BULLSHIT lah. I can't understand why the gays want it..OH WELL.
Marriage used to apply in a time where women were dependent on men and patriarchal families were the not just the norm but the standard. Even societies were structured like large patriarchal based families.
Women have much much more choice now. They needn't be with a man to start families, they arewell capable of financial success and independence
