Why are the people questioning govt policies?
The noise is getting louder. The people, well known to be daft, are questioning govt policies formulated by the top talents of the island. They are openly criticizing the high ministers’ salaries, the high public housing prices, the high influx of foreigners.
My advice to the people is not to go over board. These are well though out policies that were good for the country and themselves. Without these policies in place, the island would have long turned into a big slum.
It is time that they think deeply, if they can think at all, and say a big thank you for their good fortune. Don’t they want to have jobs? Don’t they want their property prices to keep going up? They need them for their retirement and to pay for world class hospital bills.
Say thank you please.

Yes, Yes, Yes, a million thanks for:
1. Smashing the dreams of young couples wishing to get married and having a home of their own. Who the fuck can afford it nowadays?
2. Making Sinkapooreans more cosmopolitan in outlook. Now, every other person you meet anywhere in this dot of a rock is a foreigner from, in order of suffocating presence, an India Indian, a PRC Chinese, a Filipino Pinoy and big hairy Ang Mohs from everywhere!
3. A world class MRT system so packed that it's a surprise that no oxygen masks dropped from the coach ceilings for those feeling faint from the stench of the foreigners enumerated in 2. As usual, no one in seats reserved for those needing seats including yours truly who is old and infirm gave up theirs. Where the fuck is the enforcement? Rude and disinterested MRT staff ensconced like fish in their airconditioned glass tanks complete the picture. I took the train a few days ago, after an absence of many years just to see how bad it is. Now, I treasure my jalopy more after the disgusting experience.
Save for that dark fella in our "White House", I have no beef with the supposedly "high" salaries paid to ministers. We're lucky that they didn't peg it to the earnings of those crooks in Wall Street so don't push it huh.
The End of an Era.
Indeed.
LOL.
Obviously Wally is a strong voice against my proposal: )
I heard it loud and clear. I ain't no deaf frog.
Now you can feel the backlash from the PAP supporters.
Their take is that govt is listening to us and so we should shut up and go on with our lives like pre-GE2011.
Fact is nothing has changed in our lives post-GE2011.
Show us real change and we will keep quiet.
People are beginning to speak up because they've seen that their submissive kwai kwai atitude has benefited the elite more than them.
able bodied teens of the elite have no problem doing 2 year NS because they and their parents have benefitted from the economic system. Middle class and lower middle kids however do the same NS and have to work doubly hard to get somewhere in life. And how about first generation citizens who are exempted from NS?
The average person is slowly beginning to connect the dots. And the picture from these dots dont appear to benefit them.
The ruling party maybe sincere about trying to help local middle calls Sporeans. We look forward to the new policies and the reforms.
One mortal predicted doomsday that never happened and he is at it again. If only he can tell Singaporeans their fates, he will be paid millions Sin Dollars.
Luckily, no Sinkapoorean predicted a similar fate for this tiny rock, so, can we say we are very safe? There are great plans ahead by the Rulers to work with the people for all Singaporeans to have a great country together. It is an intent and not, mind You; NOT left to providence and fate. Do You have faith in the Man?
As for the decoration piece in the Istana, nature will take its' course on him soon and that will be the end of his history in Sin.
The key is to have a TOTAL accountability and transparency in government so that all other policies are opened for vigorous debate before implementation. In this way, people will be satisfied and will keep quiet even if the policy is not popular to individual but beneficial to all or the nation as a whole.
So, how is this extremely high ministers' salary/benefit to be opened for review?
Hi ching chong, welcome to the blog.
There is a new opening up. Would it lead to an age of renaissance, or a hundred flowers bloomed and doomed?
Vow of the Goddess of Mercy.
I shall not become a buddha until all sentient beings are saved.
"There is a new opening up. Would it lead to an age of renaissance, or a hundred flowers bloomed and doomed?"
No "age of renaissance" as long as Kuan Yew is around. He will not fade away but continue to exert his influence. A few dozen flowers however will bloom. What will they look like? Giving the impression that the are caring and trying to identify with the people is not enough. A strong leader will have to emerge from within the party to undo sacred cows.
Finally., good to hear someone, our dear redbean, reminding the people not to go overboard.. Rome was not built in one day.
Just when they start to get the PM listening.. they go overboard.
SDP is also now claiming... that the PM has heeded their call.... hello their call? I made a comment in an earlier email with their so many postings on their site when the PM made his speech, with all the blah.. blah.., that their purpose was to try afterwards to claim credit, that it was their idea..
No sooner said then done, in their latest article to try to claim that they were the ones with the idea for the ministerial salaries cut.. hahahaaa. what a joke.
All this talk about the island turning into a slum or going back to fishing village days without the PAP, true or not?
Even Hougang and Potong Pasir residents were told that their neighbourhood will become slums if they voted Opposition. True or not?
Fortunately, there are still Singaporeans who can think deeper and who never believed all those grandmother stories, that is why they voted for change.
And because they voted for change, they now give all Singaporeans a chance to question Government policies.
Yes, it is time for Singaporeans to think deeply. But ironically, why are good policies needing to be overhauled if they are so good in the first place? Something is not right!
Amazing that the daft Singaporeans still got so much faith in this govt. They keep taking the people's money through high HDB prices, high medical fees, and all kinds of fees, and lock up the people's savings in CPF, not willing to return except in trickles.
And they pay themselves in the millions that is so disgusting. The daft Singaporeans deserve this govt.
Singaporeans are not daft,
they are quai(obedient).
They are obedient because
they are scared(fearful).
They are fearful beause
they are 'kiasi'(frighten of repercussion/punishment)
They are kiasi because
they are intimidated by
the power of the Authority.
Please pity them and if
not understand their plights.
