Need to make Singapore Singaporean friendly
We have many calls to make Singapore more friendly to foreigners, to dogs and cats, to the disabled, to little babies in prams, to cyclists. I think Singaporeans may want to scream out loud, to make this island Singaporean friendly.
Singaporeans seem to be getting the wrong end of the stick most of the time, and are feeling being left out in the cold. They have been taken for granted, to be left alone to fend for themselves, to be fleeced, to be cheated, to be conned, to be abused, to be threatened, to be told that they are not good enough, to be called losers, to be told to go somewhere else, best, by foreigners.
Would there be someone out there kind enough to try to make this island a bit friendlier for Singaporeans?

Ah, fucking bullshit. No one can tell if you are a Singaporean passing you on the street. Especially if you are part of the younger generation from a mixed-marriage (aka chap cheng kia).
What you are "feeling" is always a product of your mind anyway. Are there people who feel "hostility" from their fellow-man? Of course. But unless there is OBJECTIVE evidence and a LARGE SAMPLE, this feeling is unwarranted and thus irrational.
I say LARGE SAMPLE because personal experience is unreliable and is always biased to the opinions of the individual in question.
So redbean, smack yourself in the mouth for me will you? Thanks.
I always have a wonderful time when I visit Singapore. Most of my experiences have been with friendly, though reserved, people -- whom I have identified (inconclusively) as "local".
But don't let my personal experience influence your judgement -- because it is obviously biased. I just happen to be a friendly, approachable person.
May redbean, you should ask people who feel hostility (toward them) to exude more friendliness.
You reap what you sow.
We can only consider ourselves to be friendlier provided we can start to be more tolerent and stop treating our local poor ,illiterate and old like dirt, when we can stop complaining about smokers just because we dun smoke etc etc
Just love the Second Comment, maybe because me am a smoker, drinker, gambler..........
"They have been taken for granted, to be left alone to fend for themselves, to be fleeced, to be cheated, to be conned, to be abused, to be threatened, to be told that they are not good enough, to be called losers, to be told to go somewhere else, best, by foreigners". Unquote. 'They' can be more intimately and sympathetically change to 'We', how can You be so detached like our elites?
We are being bullied by only our own masters, the foreigners have no part in it unless they happen to be your superiors at work. Never forget they are brought into our land.
Let's be fair and here me has to concur with many who say that we, Singaporeans deserve the retribution for our choices of leaders.

Matilah, can I generalise, just like you: )
And ok to my smoker friends. Would not say anything about smokers again: )
And Patriot, I got your point about elite and us. But you confused me by calling me an elite and I was dreaming that maybe I am one for a while. That may explain why I used 'they' and not 'we'.
My apologies.
'mei woon tee', no problem Mr Bean.
Just sit at the smoking section with me the next time we meet. Me will choose the seat where the wind blows the smoke away from your direction and provided Wally sits beside You.
Nothing wrong if You are an elite or anybody else, me treat all of You as humans. Me respects all life forms, even the mosquitoes, so long as they do not suck my blood. But liars got to keep a distance or me will have no hesitation to expose them if i can.

patriot, redbean:
smoke, drink and gable to your heart's content as long it is in an appropriate place. No one lives on this planet alone, but we can find time and the place to be alone or with people of the same leanings.
For e.g. I don't masturbate and spray my cum all over the bus or taxi. I wait until I can get to a public toilet -- preferably a ladies cubicle so I can fantasise about the woman in the next stall :)
But seriously, this is all about being "nice" and "decent" -- which is individually behaviour based.
Just because you "perceive" that people are not nice to you, doesn't mean it is true. They could be having a bad time. They might be in an impatient state.
You can't ask others to be tolerant and expect it to happen. You can only control and moderate your own behaviour.
If I could close with a tip: I like humans being "unaware". I don't even mind rudeness, although I might respond if it is directed toward me... but usually I either ignore it or hatam back then split. And I do this for the very same reason I like the irrationality of humans: for entertainment.
Be thankful your're not in, say, China. People spit --PUI! MAny times the missile of bio-hazardrous material has missed me. It is disgusting, but they don't know better...yet. It is common practice, part of the cultural weave...despite being unsanitary and gross.
How to get angry or feel hostility toward that? You'll drive your own self CRAZY!
Relac lah brudder.
Well said Mr Matilah Singapura.
As well said and as appropriate as your Nick. Redbean is just appropriate, it is now cheaper than greenbean. Someone just drove up the price of the Latter.
