Child bearing a social responsibility

Yong Kong Peng wrote to My Paper saying that child bearing is both a personal and social responsibility. This is a new twist to what child bearing is all about. People is our national resource and citizens have a social responsibility to produce babies. Put it in another way, child bearing is a national duty! How many of you agree to this? And if it is a national duty, would the nation be responsible to bear part of the cost of upkeeping the child? Interesting ways of looking at things that we take for granted. So for those who produce more children are more responsible and should be rewarded?

For those who deemed that they are not fit to bear any offspring, whether physically or financially, would have decided not to contribute to the national birth-rates. For such, they are eliminating possible social problem. In a way, they deserved to be rewarded too.

I will acknowledge the conventional wisdom that Yong Kong Peng spouted about producing offsprings as a responsibility.

However, Yong Kong Peng has to be reminded of the great responsibility parents have, to be responsible for the wellbeings and happiness of his/her natural reproduction(s).

Today, we are very much aware that most citizens are challenge just to survive, most are not happy themselves. Are they ABLE TO GIVE HAPPINESS TO THEIR CHILD(REN) ???

It is a social responsibility if you want the country to survive as a nation of Singaporeans and not a hotel for FTs.

Don't want to have children? Can, but don't grumble about the avalanche from foreign seas.

Yong Kong Peng,
don't keng, keng. What you trying to say is that producing baby is a economical duty. So why beat around the bush ? No one going to poke your backside if you tell the truth or your godfather does that to you ?
