The SDP protest took place
I thought it was another joke. But it did took place on Saturday at Parliament House led by Chee Soon Juan and his SDP comrades. And 15 of them wearing red T shirt with the words 'Tak Boleh Tahan' on their chests to protest against the rising cost of living.
It was reported that 15 were arrested subsequently.
Chee Juan Soon has taken over as the 'bu tao ong', the infallible toy. He has taken over the position of JB Jeyaratnam. You can whip him, jail him, bankrupt him, he will be back.
This is another sad story of how opposition politicians could end up. Very pathetic for a first world democracy.

I'm less sympathetic towards them when they are a bunch of klutzs. This is some cheap trick capitalizing on people's discontent. With these people clowning around just makes the opposition lose credibility.
i wont go as far as to say they are retarded only becos they have have certificates of achievements to prove otherwise, but it is clear that our opposition are no big picture people. they are either contending some unimportant details with a myopic mindset or ranting on myanmar or timbaktu that are irrelevant/ boring; these are not strategic people who can size up and grasp relevant issues quickly and act on them effectively.
More people should join Hero Chee in the protest... however due to the consequences and aftermath, none dare step forward, chickens like me, cannot even think of stepping forward.
The 5 percent inflation that government gave was probably just a figure for the MSM to publish, and for the bosses to not adjust salary to help employees out in the current economic situation.... average cost has gone up at least 10 to 20% if not more.
Also has the unofrtunate opportunity to see not ONE but TWO old lady carrying TIN/ ALUMINIUM cans walking acorss traffic lights at 9 pm on a Sunday night... What is happenning to our FIRST world standard of living and our first class best paid ministers and civil servants.
they are battered politicians, wounded and cornered. just like JB Jeyaratnam, nothing to lose anymore. They will continue to do what they are doing, the spoilers.
in a way, they are the sacrificial lamb.
It is precisely such antics that puts a lot of Singaporeans off voting for clowns like Chee and Jeya. No matter how bad I kena tekan by PAP, I will never ever give my precious vote to morons like them and their like.
we have different kinds of badness in our political system.
it takes two to clap. i don't approve of his antics though, but i can understand his plight.
not a good thing to push another person to the end of the road. let the loser have an escape route to bow out gracefully. something like appointing marshall as an ambassador. i am not suggesting that chee be made an ambassador. he has done too much damage to his own image.
"If you are a troublemaker... it's our job to politically destroy you. Put it this way. As long as JB Jeyaratnam for what he stands for - a thoroughly destructive force - we will knock him. Everybody knows that in my bag I have a hatchet, and a very sharp one. You take me on, I take my hatchet, we meet in the cul-de-sac."
- Lee Kuan Yew, The Man And His Ideas, 1997
i agree, the opposition is becoming irrelevant by the day. this is not tikam, you dun simply wayang here there like some thing wrong and hope for sympathy votes. we are rules abiding people you know, not misfits like you.
