Malaysia is secular - said Karpal Singh
Karpal Singh quoted Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Hussein Onn that Malaysia is a secular state. He also quoted the Supreme Court ruling in Feb 29, 1988, 'We have to set aside our personal feelings because the law in this country is what it is today, a secular law...'
Is it that people have short memory? Or perhaps the ruling of the Supreme Court in 1988 was written in English and some cannot read English today? Malaysia is a secular or Islamic state. It cannot be anything in between, a halfbaked state, not knowing what it is.
This will be a good opportunity for the Malaysian govt to state it clearly what it is so that all Malaysians do not live in a state of make beliefs, believing what they want to believe but totally different from realities.

Quotes of dead men are worth jack shit. It's the people currently in power who decide whether it is a islamic state or not, and karpal singh is not one of them.
I have a bad feeling that after Abdullah, an Islamic state it will be if the likes of Hishamudin or Khairy takes over.
It is inevitable. And with the Chinese population dwindling due to natural attrition and migration, there is nothing they can do to stop it.
either way it is a good thing. just make it clear then those who want to stay can stay and those who want to leave can leave. then everyone can be at peace with themselves.
no need to argue or deny any more. waste of time and effort.
It is already clear as daylight. Those who don't like it can go back to where their ancestors came from.
i just wish the govt will make this an official view and publish it in the media.
Mahathir said to stop discussion of Islamic state
He said too much talk on this will harm the country especially the Chinese and Indians. What about the Dayaks, the Ibans, the natives of Borneo and Sarawak, are they muslims and want to follow muslim ways of life and principles?
In the first place who is the clown who raised the issue in public? And why after saying it officially, the rest are not supposed to talk about it? Why should anyone be allowed to start a fire and no one should talk about it?
Why don't the culprit who brought this issue into the limelight be caned?
Quotes of men currently not in power are also worth jack shit!
I say to Mahathir: If you're a rooster, crow; if you're a hen, shut up and lay eggs.
hey, everyone has a right to speak ok. even mahathir.
Mahathir or Mati-lah?
matilah also lah.
since some of you raised your objection he has been very restrained. and even when some of you still keep picking at him, he has remained quiet.
let's make friends then enemies lah. you have transformed him man.
OK lah, since Malaysia is circular.

matilah, you get it?
it is fair that people put out outrageous posts will be whacked outrageously.
sori. we have NO inclination to bash no one. outrageously or not.
an intelligent blog for discussion need not be contaminated wif obscenities & attacks on other's religions, opinions etc.
as u said beanie, we will discuss the issue u raised & views shared by bloggers here.
